Generally get around 2500 runners total. Last November it was 2643.

My question is if the cash games are equally good for every stop? I went to the cash games one weekend in February and they had a ton of games. I am wondering if it's like that the other stops too?
yes cash games are popping off every series, doesn't matter if its November, August, Feb, or April.

Posting nothing other than promoting your home game in threads? Yeah, not so much.

ELI5: How does this room get so many players? Cherokee is not a big city. There isn't much to do there outside of the casino. There ARE a handful of major cities AROUND it but honestly they aren't really that close: Asheville, NC is an hour away, Knoxville, TN is 2 hours, and both Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, GA are 3 hours. That just doesn't seem like enough to keep the ecosystem going but they always seem to have games going in general and during the WSOP tour stop it is really popping.

Because there are no other legal poker rooms in huge radius

It'll be interesting to see how the Virginia casinos impact business at Cherokee, but there will still be patrons coming from points South and West. It's a nice poker room and there's good action.

If you're talking about me. I actually said that the cities are too far away in my opinion to drive the current business turnout in my personal opinion.

Don’t forget that Cherokee had tourist traffic before the casino existed. There are some people who go to Cherokee and then visit the casino; there are some who plan a casino visit and then visit other attractions.

I grew up in IN and we would take a long weekend to the smokies at least once most years. Tech we would normally go to Gatlinburg but almost always visited Cherokee NC unless weather did not permit. This was LONG LONG before casino was even thought of.

Point is that the area had a level of traffic wo the casino.

Also as you noted the play you specifically referenced was during a circuit event. If a site can’t get some cash games popping during a stop they won’t be able to keep the stop.

Could someone post the structure for the monthly $50k tournaments that have been running?

I don't have the structure but I've played it and it's quick, pretty much a turbo. Very shallow stacks if you bag for day 2. Day 2 goes very quickly.

The Smokys are the most visited park in the US. Combine that with it being the only poker room around and you have the answer. It's crazy to think that the place started as a tiny one room casino some 20 years ago. Seems like they've added on every year since.

2-3 hours isn't that far for a degen to travel to get their fix. For a lot of people there it's either home games or Cherokee, at least that was my impression when I was down there.

Even if it does not seem like it should be enough, just the fact that they always have games going shows that it is. As already pointed out there are no other legal casinos for hundreds of miles. Even if just a few people from Charlotte, Atlanta, etc, and the smaller towns in that huge footprint go to Cherokee to play people poker, the room will be full.

Last year in February when I went to Cherokee during the WSOP stop, the poker room actually shutdown at some point early in the morning like maybe 5am or something and didn't re-open until around 10am or thereabouts.

I am curious: is that still how the room operates? I was surprised at the time they would even close the room at all because there were so many games running.

If it IS how it works, does anyone know the exact times? I am more concerned about the opening time and I seem to remember it opened at 10 am but I could be off an hour or two or it could have changed.

Thanks in advance!

I remember that, too. There was a line in the morning to get into the poker room, and you had to draw for a seat as you walked in. I hope it's open 24/7 now.

Thinking about going to Cherokee for the week of the main event for the wsop circuit event was looking for someone to split a room outside of the venue as the prices at harrahs for that week is outrageous. Please PM me if interested

According to the Bravo app:

the room is open 24/7 during the WSOP circuit events.
open nonstop Friday 10AM-Monday 6AM during non circuit weekends.
closed from 6AM-10AM on weekdays.

Don't know how updated or correct that is but that's what it says.

Hopefully that's the case. Last year, I know they had a huge problem getting enough dealers, so I wasn't sure if that was part of the reason they did that or if it could happen again this year.

You can rent a cabin at the KOA about 15/20 minutes away for $50 a night. That is w/o a bathroom, but the bathhouses are heated and kept very clean. Basic, and you need to bring linens or a sleeping bag, but for $50, who cares?

We stay there in our travel trailer.

Headed up from Nashville tomorrow. Rooms were absurdly priced, so I’m staying 20 minutes away.

How do we get them to spread 5–10 NL / 5–5 PLO round-by-round?

How are the 1/3 games during WEEKDAYS? I work weekends so can't go then. Also I'm pretty broke and I'd probably only arrive with 2 buyins. Which I realize is dumb but I'm thinking it would be decently fine for a competent player playing tight.

I have never been to a casino before. Harrah's is five hours away so trying to gather some intel before I go. Many thanks to anyone who sees this post and replies.
