Competition would be great for Cherokee. I'd love to see a casino in Kings Mountain. Closer for me.

I mentioned competition, or the lack thereof, on a Facebook post from the casino, in response to another customers question. They snap banned me from being able to comment lol.

can't speak for all circuit stops, but at Cherokee it's cash only in person to register for tournaments.

Just got home from Cherokee, had a great time, especially in the cash games. So, I am already thinking about coming up for the November WSOPc stop. Does anyone know if walking to and from the casino from the Econo Lodge is safe enough at night? Thinking about staying there as it is next to the river park and wife and dog may come along. If I can walk, she gets the car.

If you aren't used to walking, that is a fairly long walk (1.2 miles according to google maps.) and heavy traffic through the tourist trappy section. I have no idea about the crime rate. The hotel website says they have a shuttle that runs until midnight.

Thanks for response. I don't mind the walk, I am more worried about walking late at night/early morning with a lot of cash on me. One thing about poker is all the cash involved. Normally, I am lucky if I have $5 on me. A pocket full of $100s is another matter.

Lol at there plans to add another $1 for a promotion. They want start taking up to $8 from every pot?!! I think the only time ever worth going there seems to be strictly WSOP circuit time.

And playing cash in the event room, I don't think I got any credit at all for hours of play.

I wouldn't. It's too far imo, and it isn't safe. Stonebrook lodge or Fairfield are good options for walking. Although a few years back an elderly couple were robbed/killed walking to the Fairfield.

Both are 100ish weekdays 200ish weekends. Cherokee will pick up part of the cost at local partners if you call. Microtel is a good option and there shuttle runs to 3am on weekends. Just call and they will pick you up.

Any announcement/info on this? The rake is too high already lol. Couldn't find anything on the website. They are opening a sportsbook. Poker is supposedly going back downstairs. Is sportsbook going where the poker room is now? Didn't make it to the WSOPc in August, but will try for November.

Thanks for response. I stayed at Days Inn right across the street during the circuit and that was fine and I got room for around $80. But, I was only in my room to sleep. What I am trying to do is find a place my wife would enjoy more and that Econo Lodge is right next to the river island park and not far from casino. My wife doesn't care about the casino LOL. Leaving her the car would be a bonus. But, we may get a cabin on a creek or something and I will just drive while she chills in scenic surroundings with a good book and the dog. I heard about that killing, but generally I think that was a one off thing. But a 1.2 mile walk with a pocket full of money worries me.

New sports book is being constucted on main level where kids arcade was. Not sure if bowling alley is staying or going, Im guess going (sports bet revenue >>>>>>> bowling revenue ) Poker will move down there as well.

Temp sports book is opening in a month or so. I don't know timing when poker is moving down there, but it is. It will prob open same time perm sports book opens.

Regarding rake... yes its high. When the sports book opens and poker moves down there I suspect the action will be crazy good and most will have no problem paying the higher rake as increased win rates will more the compensate.

So, help me out please, as I am not aware what the sports betting in NC has evolved into, last I heard, the legislature had approved sports betting, but governor had not signed yet. I am flying to Vegas next week, for poker and sports betting, but if Cherokee has legal sports betting, that's my destination, 3 hour drive. Thank you very much in advance..!!

New law allows sportsbetting only at the 2 casino's properties. No mobile betting allowed off site. Not sure if they will have app for onsite betting. Caesars will run book, of course.

If you mean $5-10, only during circuit events. $2-5 runs every day and buyin is match largest stack at table so often plays deep.

I'm looking for a heads-up on the current sportsbook situation. Is there a temporary setup running? If so, what's it like? Anyone have pictures? Can I go watch a game yet?

This page from their site says late fall. It mentions a temporary location but does not indicate if it is open yet. Give them a call @ Tel: (828) 497-7777.
