Thinking of heading up August for a bit - I will be around the area and notice they have the WSOP going on starting AUG 2nd. How is the action?

Hotel - food - area?

Probably not gonna stay at cherokee as they wanted $250 a night? Found some cheaper hotels nearby.

Action during the wsop will be great. Expect to wait a while to get on a table on a weekend/when a tournys going to be restarting. Last WSOP I went to (November?) I think I waited 2 hours on a Saturday to get on a table. Worth the wait though.

Obv with the circuit hotel rooms will be higher. Book in advance or it’ll be ridiculous even in a week night.

Food wise Brio right next to the main poker room is the best imo. A lot of people like the Chinese place downstairs on the casino floor though. I’ll be heading down the weekend of the main and will update if anything’s changed.

cool - I booked at super 8 by wyndham - hopefully a good room - it got great reviews. it's 1 mile from the casino

How many TR do you get per hour at the poker tables? I couldn't find it mentioned in this thread - also how many comp dollars.

I'm gonna assume 17 TR and $1 an hour?

I do not remember the TR credits. But you have to play in the poker room to get them. If you plan in the event center they do not have a way to track your play to give you the points.

Yep, Brio is my main staple of food source there and then the noodle bar for late night eats.

I just booked a room a few nights ago for this Sat at the lodge for only $119. Harrah's wanted $409 for premium room with my TR membership. HA ha ha...right.

They comp'd me 3-night stays several times during the WSOP but only Sun-Thurs.

Was up there this past Saturday. Played a sit n go with 5 women >60 years old. Was amazing. Cash games were good (albeit with about an hour wait).

I'll also suggest Brio. Great place...but from between 6 and 10 you are looking at at least an hour wait if you can't go slide in at the bar.

Love Cherokee and wish it was closer to my house. Damn hike from Raleigh.

Went to cherokee and played 5 days - action was good. Dealers were meh - and everything is a little "slower" there. Some were good but most of them were not. People were over paying pre flop - someone would raise to $25 - and people put out $30 sometimes and dealer would just scoop it up. I would say something like hey - he put out $30 and the dealer would say no he didn't. I said count the pot than - and he did and indeed the player did overpay $5. Really ridiculous **** like that would happen, and while the dealers did work 10+ hour sessions I think they should listen to the players who are fresh.

The rewards were screwed up. Players are only getting about .41 per hour and half the tier credits they are supposed to if you were swiped in. IF you went to the event center, and they manually entered your hours than you got full credit of .90 cent an hour and 17 tier credits.

I talked to the supervisor about this and they told me to talk to total rewards so I talked to total rewards and they told me to talk to the supervisor. LOL

Any ways they told me to call back in a week - so I guess i'll do that as I played 30+ hours and would like to be compensated for my play especially since rake was $7.

If you played in the main room though - you got a little less than half credit per hour though.

For a casino that is making tons of $$$ since it has no competition I was frustrated.

What is the rake at 2/5, 5/10 and 10/20 NL? I hear it is $7 at 2/5 but is there a BBJ/promo take as well effectively making it $7 + $1?

When 5/10 runs - I assume it is time game. Is it $8 an hr? $10? Is the a BBJ take there? I called them but they seemed confused about what I was asking.

2/5 Rake is 10% to $7. Im not sure what the 5/10 or 10/20 as those game only run during big events like the wsop. There are no promos or BBJs.

Rake is 10% to $7 on all games from 1/2 to 25/50. Used to be a time charge of $7/half on the 5/5 and up PLO but it's now the same as all other games.

No promo or BBJ.

Only allowed to run it once.

Games are soft, not as good as they used to be when the smallest live game spread was 2/5. 1/2 with $200 cap has hurt the games.

All other stakes, you can buy in for the biggest stack. PLO there is excellent and generally plays deep at 5/5 and above.

During the tournies, 5/10 is usually the biggest NL game and 25/50 is the biggest PLO, with an ocassional 50/100 if the right players are there. The 25/50 game is usually better than the 10/25(less nits, more gamblers

Thanks for the reply (both of you). Good to hear there is no promo take at least although that is still brutal rake for 1/2 and 2/5...but $7 max instead of time is probably better at 5/10. Do you think 5/10 will run consistently over Thanksgiving weekend? Thinking about makin the trip - but not if 5/10 doesn't run. Looks like they have a WSOPc $400 w/ 500k guarantee that weekend.

During WSOPc they will have all of that you want, plus bigger PLO games.

Are the design on the dollar (or other values) chips at Harrah's Cherokee in Murphy are different then at Cherokee?

Ive been there the weekend and week after thanksgiving for the last 4 years or so and have only had a 5/10 NL game jump off 1 time... and then break in like an hour. These idiots come to the 5/10 table with their backpacks and headphones. They sit with like 7 1K chips and wonder why no one on the list shows up. They basically scream "Hey im a pro and no fun to play with" come sit with us. I tried to tell them to keep their backpacks away from the table and order a beer... they looked at me like I had 2 heads.

I cant speak for the weekend during the main. maybe 5/10 runs that weekend... I usually leave that Friday

Probably best to call and ask. I know that a couple of years ago Cherokee would not cash my Murphy chips but a lot can change in two years.

I'll probably have a book bag, especially here since I'll be in the casino literally all day - but I'll most likely be drinking & having a good time.

Guessing I'd have surely heard about it by now, but did anything ever come out of the rumblings they might put another casino in the Concord Mills (or thereabout) area?

Born & raised in NC so just curious more than anything.

My experience also. 5/10 doesn't run much and never multiple tables. But the 2/5 does and you can match the biggest stack, so it plays much deeper. 200-1k intial buy-in. Lots of tables with 3-5k stacks. I'm mostly a plo player these days. Those games ard huge during any of the series.

Most recent article I've seen, linked below. Sounds like it's been at a standstill for a while now.

No, this will not happen. The casino's line the pockets of the politicians, and would never allow competition this close, although officially the Cherokees are only allowed to have a casino North of I-40. Not sure where you heard this rumor but please send link if you have one.

Also the rumored Kings Mountain casino, in partner with the Seminoles will never happen either. Power broker and local politician Tim Moore would be the key to this happening, but 90% of his donations are from bible thumping, backwards arse folks. Mr Moore is already in hot water for shady dealings, and I would expect him to be indicted within the next 6 months of his hiring of a no-show job for a friend, plus he has another case involving someone giving him $40K with no show of work provided. Club Fed looks to be in his future.
Wish either would happen, but it ain't gonna.

Anyone play in the 1/2 plo recently? How's the game? I've played the 5/5 many times, it's a great game, but plays big. Not really rolled for it. From what I understand it's 100-200 buy-in, no matching largest stack. Probably plays smaller than I'd like. Any info appreciated?

No not usual. I noticed it was extremely busy as well. Didn't see anything special happening poker wise on their website. Maybe a popular concert or something. Was 14 tables running w/ 4 5/5 plo tables after 2am.

Anyone one know the conversion rate for reward credits there? Have about 12,000 and going on vacation that way in June and was wondering what free slot play that might get to keep the wife busy while I play. Thanks.
