Can't make it this weekend, anybody going or already there that can give some updates? Hopefully, will make it there next weekend.

Would like to see how many runners are averaging each, how the cash games are going, etc

I’d be interested in updates as well. Thinking to come in for the main but none of the other tournys near the end of the week really interest me. Hoping cash will be good

I just checked the Bravo app, it's looking pretty good in terms of the MTT's.

Event #2 150K GTD: Prize Pool is up to $324K, final flight just started at 4PM, 1080 runners

Event # 3 Seniors 25K GTD: Prize Pool @ $87K, 437 runners

Event # 4 25K GTD Started @ 3pm, 225 runners so far

Cash: 20 tables currently running, meant to check this status last night to see how busy it was.

Just got back from the weekend

Tables are set up in the convention center only, not the outer area by the concession stand/restrooms. At peak on Sat night there were still a few open tables on the floor. About 90 tables set up.

Staff- Dennis’s crew and WSOP dealers

SNG- running on the first 2-3 rows as you walk in. Mostly $125’s that filled quickly with a sprinkle of $200’s and the smaller ones-$70?

Cash games- 1/2 I think mostly in the convention center at peak with 2/5 and Omaha variants in the poker room. Pretty sure no 2/5 was put in the convention center. No 5/10 game- I was told by a dealer it was because there was no cap on the 2/5 but never confirmed, the 2/5’s were mostly deep so just dove in. Sat night peaked around 38 cash tables and probably no more than a 10 min wait for most games.

It was like a mini circuit event with a mix of grinders and recs but did not seem to have a lot of first timers (although a lot played like it, which is why we love this place)

They went conservative on the guarantees probably because of possible weather this time of year but it was extremely mild- except for the nice breeze in the convention center.

Thanks for the updates guys! Nice to see that they're doing well on their guarantees as usual. Would be interested in 5/10 next weekend depending how the main goes, will likely only stay 2-3 days.

2/5 at Cherokee is technically not uncapped unless they changed it recently. its 1000 then table stakes so while it does get big sometimes, from my experience its not common for people to buy in for more than that

1. Primary reason in the past for the big games being in the poker room is because they had a 5000 dollar well [Making bigger buyins possible at the table in the bigger games]. This has now changed with the well being only a couple hundred and only used to color up rakeband make change. The other reason is that the convention center has no Bravo on their tables thus they prefer giving TR points to the bigger buyin cash games. Keep in mind, 1/2 will still be in the poker room on days in which the room isn’t full spread.

2. I would also speculate the guarantees are mild because they have no idea how big the event will be when it hasn’t been advertised as much nor has the WSOP branding and rings/points incentives.

From the few tables I ended up at, it seemed between the time of year and the lack of WSOP branding, there seemed to be almost no first-timers, tourists, or gambooolers/drunks there to spice up the games. Seemed like tons of familiar locals faces that I see grind out all the Cherokee events. So though there maybe not be the smattering of circuit-traveling pros, the action really seemed a lot less fishy than the usual WSOP circuit events.

Finished 6th in Event #1, had 170 runners. Went back yesterday and played cash, now spreading 1-2 PLO. Had 8 tables still going strong when I left at 3am. Cherokee is great action, just hate they have no competition, don’t give good comps imho.

Haven't been here in years but I'm going back on Friday. Last time I went all the poker tables were electronic 1/2.

I know they've added real tables, but is it only at 2/5? Do they have dealers for lower stakes games?

They completely got rid of the electronic tables. All the games are live now including 1/2

So it was pointed out to me this past weekend that there is now a 1/2 PLO game with a $200 max buy-in. Anyone played in it that could give some opinions on how the game plays?

The 1/2 PLO is very nitty at the moment. it should be much better this weekend due to the circuit being in town.

Thinking about making my inaugural visit to Harrah's Cherokee for the WSOPC in August. Question: if I'm gonna come in for a Fri-Sat-Sun trip, is the action better the first or second weekend? And by action, I mean 5/5 and higher PLO and 5/10 and higher NLHE.

5/5 PLO here will be great pretty much all series. Usually there’s a PLO bracelet event near the beginning so that tends to bring some higher action with it. The biggest games are generally around the main though which is near the end of the series.

Thinking about heading up to Cherokee some time this weekend. I've never been, but from what I've read earlier in this thread seems like the wait list for cash games can get long on weekends, and I imagine will be even longer on a holiday weekend. If I want to put in maybe 6-8 hours of 1/2 NL, what do you all think would be the best day/time for me to show up? Obviously in terms of minimum wait times and maximum fishiness of games.

I plan on heading there for the first time for the circut main event. Are there any recommendation for basic/cheap lodging near by? I can stay in Asheville but I guess it will be an uncomfortable drive at night?

You def don't want to drive that far, plus if you bust early, the cash games are great for a good 8-10 hour session. Yes, plenty of places, fire up your ole search engine, trip advisor, etc sites. Also, want to make res far in advance, they fill up fast with the spots across the street. Also, some great deals on small cabins, etc in the area.
