They were trying to get PLO started, but I had to leave at 11 and it still hadn't started yet.

for the tourney players, The 80.00 tourney got like 75 people, i remember looking at the screen it paid 8 with 1400 something up top. There's no play it in though, when there were 22 people left avg stack was 11 bigs. And yes, as someone mentioned above it's 60+20 juice absolutely unbeatable long term.
Ya. Action was great for the holiday but some decline back to normal was expected. PLO usually only runs weekends so no huge surprise it didnt get off.

I agree they tournys play short though. Played in the deepstack on the 4th but like you said, even that got short pretty quick. Unsure about the dalies but it wasn't so much the structure though as much as people just not willing to commit their 6BB stacks as light as they should. Actually had someone call 2.5x pre and fold on the flop with 1BB left. Not complaining just shocked it happened.

Thanks for the update. Played there a good amount years ago but having 2 kids in the last few years has really put a damper on my playing time. Plan on starting to get back up there more regularly again.

Best time to go is during the WSOP Circuit. Next one starts up in about 3 weeks.

Agree, the starting stacks for the normal tournaments ($80,$135) aren't really big enough to have much play at all once you get down to the final 10 or 20 players. They had 118 entries on July 3 for a $135 tournament (only $100 to the prize pool) and yet the final 9 stacks with one exception were all 8-15 BB. We ended up basically splitting $12k 9 ways. It was a fun tournament until the shove/fold phase.

The small starting stacks also discourage re-entries and late buy ins since you are starting with a 10 BB stack at the end of the entry deadline (blinds 200/400/75). You can get more players if you start with say $8k. Sure the tournament would last an extra hour or two but they only run about 4 hours now.

Agree with this completely. Played a $80 a couple years back and it was the same thing. Final table went quick with a lot of action the 1st few hands then the final 4 of us ended up chopping it. The funny part of it was since they still had the pokerpro machines it took like 20 min of all ins every hand to end the tourney so we could get paid out.

I think its more the structure needs work than the starting stacks. Up front its a good structure but then starts to quicken pretty rapidly as it goes on. The last jump i remember was 10k/20k to 15k/30k effectively giving the 2 big stacks about 15BB and the 2 small stacks about 5BB. Even with the deeper stacks of the 270 the big stack heading go the final table had about 25BB with myself and 1 other around 20BB and everyone else less than 10, including 3 with 5 or less.

Id rather they take a level or 2 out up front and add one mid-late. People will still rebuy and play but it gives more play later on. Side note: i mainly play cash and am assuming dailies are the same structure i played with less chips so someone correct me if this is wrong

Don't go all in. Go ALMOST all in, then fold on flop. Leaves three of you with one ante or whatever behind in two hands guaranteed to loose at least two with a huge and a tiny stack. Though obviously won't need this in the future.

That is weird. When are you looking for? Once summer's over and the GSMNP tourists thin out it should be wide open. Maybe it's because you've never stayed there? I used to never get offers from them until I stayed there. Now I get them very regularly. Probably all it would take would be a phone call and they'd find room for you.

They get $500 for rooms in the summer; they're not giving anyone free rooms hahaha

That's for sure. I've noticed I need to book a month in advance Sun-Thurs; if you're looking to stay over the weekend forget about comps since they're getting close $500 a night. I agree that once the summer ends it gets a bit easier to find comps.

I am going for global championship in a few weeks. Caesars palace is fairly pricey but I can get rooms they make their own rules somehow.

I thought seven stars were pretty much guaranteed free rooms anytime. Guess not.

I know one who not only got a free room, they got two for multiple nights on the biggest weekend in Cherokee's history.

Not all stars are equal.

Has anyone played in the Saturday Monster Stack ($580) recently? Interested in how strong the field is, how many players typically enter, and what the payouts are. Thanks in advance for any info.

i haven't played the tourny but i've been there playing cash pretty much every saturday since they moved it to 4pm. first couple weeks they got 10-15. 3 weeks ago was about 20-25 with the week after being 40 and i think they had about 25 again this week. i believe they pay top 10% rounded up so about 3 spots get paid with 5-7k up top. Obv highly dependent on field size

rooms been extra busy the last few weekends though so the higher numbers may not be typical long term. also with the WSOP in town the next week and a half tournys should be great in general

Really seems like 580 is a ridiculous tourney to run. 250-350 would get so much more action. It's as if they are trying to push people away.

Yeah, but when you're the only poker in a four state area, you get away with a lot. High rake and no promos. Although if they ran promos, then it would be even more outrageous rake/drop.

Great thank you for the info. Any idea how strong the field is? I would imagine it's noticeably tougher than smaller buy in tourneys that are laughably bad (however Ive still yet to cash in any lol). And forgot about the WSOP Circuit I may try to play in one of the smaller buying tourneys this weekend.

They have a 250 on Sundays. Usually gets 70-100 runners. Last time I played was just over 5k up top, 3k for 2nd. 10k starting stack. Really soft.

And on top of that, they cap the entries. Pretty sure they only have 4 tables allocated for this tournament unless something changed recently.
