Going to be moving to the Charlotte area and looking forward to checking this place out over the Summer.

Based on prior posts in the thread, it looks like staying overnight at the actual casino is prohibitively expensive for a lot of people. Has anyone tried any of the 2.5 star hotwire hotels that are in Cherokee, NC? If so, are they close to the casino?

I've stayed at both Holiday Inn Express in Sylva and Cherokee. Not the cheapest option, but certainly less than at the casino itself. Both facilities are fine, with the one in Cherokee across the street.

Area hotels have become somewhat expensive too. 125-200/ per night on the weekends, but much cheaper during the week. Casino rooms aren't terribly hard to get for free or at a reduced rate/79 a night weekdays. The weekends are a different story. 299-525 depending on your ADT.

You can check prices/availability on Total Rewards website and use whatever offers you have to book. If you call the casino directly they will often put you in an area hotel comped or at a reduced rate.

Days Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Fairmont Suites, and Stonebrook Lodge are all right across street from casino and within easy walking distance. Weekend price for all of them will be $150+. Holiday weekends will be around $200+. And they all fill up quickly every weekend so plan in advance.

How are the cash games when wsop circuit rolls in? Majority of tables live rather than electronic ( for 2/5)? Considering a trip in August.

They did away with the electronic tables altogether. They get a lot of cash games going during the WSOP, so it's worth the trip.

Sry for extra posts. Do they keep 2/5 cash games at 10 handed during the series? :-/ Also (and I'm assuming not) do they bring in extra.shufflers for the cash tables or hand shuffled as per mtt tables?

* During series how often are people buying in to equal biggest stack or is avg buy-in still between $5-1k. What are room rules for table transfers and bringing or matching stacks?

Thanks kindly in advance!

Just came back from playing here today. Played 2/5, and my table did not have an auto shuffler (everything was hand shuffled). I played extremely poorly, and still ended up making a little bit of money even on a tight table (deck smacked me in the face I reckon). I think I saw two people buy in for close to $1k and the rest were between $400-$700.

Played the April series, from my recollection 2/5 was 9 handed (althoûgh they do 10 in tournys i think). Action is split between the poker room and event center. About 15 tables in the poker room have auto shufflers but those will mostly be filled with the biggest games and 5/5 plo. I think there were maybe generally 10 2/5 in the poker room with the rest in the event center. Everything in the event center and the back 7ish tables in the poker room were hand shuffle.

People buying in for the biggest stack is really table dependent. Ive had some where people will auto top and some where no one will. No idea on the table transfers question

I concur with the other posters. I got table transferred a couple of times at $1/2 and was able to bring whole stack which was over the max buy in.

So just to recap during the WSOP circuit even they run additional cash game tables in the event center? And there are more higher stakes games running than normal? Are there still a lot of 1/2 games running in the regular poker room?

I was there a few years ago when a circuit even was going and I remember the wait list for everything being ridiculously long.

Yes. As tournament tables empty they will open up new cash tables in the event center. I was only there for a few days but remember a 10/25 running (might've been 25/50.). There were 7 tables of 5/5 plo give or take and 1 table bigger than that. The rest in the poker room was 2/5. They tried some 1/2 in there the first few days but that all ended up in the event center with the overflow 2/5.

Wait lists for 1/2 and 2/5 may be long depending time of day. First day i sat in 15 min. Next day, i was about 70th on the list for 2/5 and took about an hour and a half. 1/2 had a 150 person wait at its max if i remember and i heard of 3hr+ waits at certain times

Edit: if you're asking the number of 1/2s it was 20+ but all in the event center on busy days

I was there for the first one after they moved it (about 3 weeks ago). Pretty sure there was only 1 table. Dont know if it rebounded since but even the weeks before when it was 7pm it wasn't doing all that well

Thanks for the input. Sucks that turnout is so bad. I was hoping to play weekend after next. Will have to call the poker room and see what they can tell me.

Spoke to poker desk and they said typically 20-30. Also, he thought around 50 for the regular Friday 7PM. Is that accurate or wishful thinking? Hoping to come up weekend after next.

i'm not usually there on fridays but during the week i believe the 7pm usually gets about 30-40 and the 10pm usually gets 40-50 so i'd think 50ish is within reason for a friday

Does anyone in or near Atlanta make trips to Harrah's over the weekend? Would be interested in doing a carpool. Me tagging along and contributing to gas some weekends and some weekends I drive. Probably would go on Sunday's mainly (leave in am, drive back at night).

How are games here on your average Thursday/Friday nights and Saturday/Sunday all day?

Moving to the Charlotte area pretty soon.
Also, anyone know of any home games in the Charlotte area? PM me if so.

Games in general here are somewhat softer than what id consider average.

Weeknight games (thursday) are generally decent to good action wise. Usually 3-5 1/2s and 1-2 2/5s plus tournament tables. Saturdays there will generally be 10-12 1/2 and 2/5 games going. Possibly more as it gets later. Games are generally softer than weekdays (as you'd expect) but theres not quite as much action of course. Its pretty generally pretty easy to fînd a good game if you have decent table selection skills though

Cool, thanks for the heads up.

There's currently ~15 casinos within 2 hours of me, so I think I'm in for a change of life style.

I go when I can which is a few times a year. Wouldn't mind linking up with others myself.
