Have there been any major changes to the poker room upstairs within the last 6 months? such as more or less live vs. digital tables?

Are they still going to have the sitngo tables in the event center constantly registering? I think I remember them having something like $125's running a lot a couple of years back.

Does anyone know if there will be wifi in the event center during the circuit?

Also last year, did they have lots of digital cash games running throughout the circuit in the regular poker room?

Have there been any improvements to the hands per hour speed in the 2/5 cash games? Such as having an automatic shuffler installed in the tables?
Haven't played any 1/2 since the change. I imagine the guys that were min buying before are min buying at $50 now.

More live tables have been added. 10 live tables total all 2/5 or higher holdem/plo. The 1/2 doesn't run as much as it did. No tables during the week and only 1-3 on the weekends. Most play has moved to live tables. I have seen 1/2 live spread rarely but with a $7 rake. The PLO is time charge $7 per half.

No wifi in the event center. No free wifi in rooms. $11.95/per day/per device. Ridiculous.

The 10 tables in the poker room have auto-shufflers. The temp tables in the even center will not. Dealers now keep their own tips. Speed/Accuracy is improved with a few notable exceptions. Floor decisions are very hit and miss. Some floors are very good. Some aren't.

Didn't play any sit n go's. Seems to be a demand for them but the employees had a hard time managing them in December.

Play is as bad as it ever was. More regs now but I mostly play PLO so YMMV. Play during the series is insanely bad.

$50 min at 1/2 sounds absolutely dreadful. That would single handily almost ruin the games.

No matter how many donks you have at the table, you're bound to have a few min buying robots that are shoving all in pre so frequently they shut down almost all normal play.

I've only played there a handful of times since they added live tables regularly, but yea I think it's kind of annoying. I've literally watched guys who I assume are regs, play nitty for an hour on a short stack, and wait to either double up or get stacked, and then rebuy $50 a time multiple times as they inevitably lose. There was never much of a wait list though, so they obviously need this to keep seats filled I guess.

Seen a friend of my lose 125 of a 200 buyin and cash out 1700 on the 1/2...never been there to experience it, but it was only 4 hours of a journey to the top...was up 1550 on 2/5 at the same same time....makes you feel stupid sometimes

Are the upcoming WSOP tournaments run by live dealers or on the e tables?

That would be a lot of e-tables. should be around 200 live dealer tables.

Regarding the Harrah's Cherokee WSOP Circuit events:

I think there are definitely a lot of kinks to work out with Cherokee current poker setup. First of all the Cherokee poker room managers seem to find all the action from the event to be more of a chore/hassle when they should see all the opportunity. The room is run by a bunch of old school guys (no offense) who do not understand the dynamic of today's poker community.

The WSOP crew is doing a very good job considering what they have to work with in cherokee. The issue of multiple chip colors and chip shortage falls back on Cherokee. WSOP uses Harrah's Cherokee tournament chips in the circuit events. It isn't the fault of WSOP that Harrah's doesn't have enough chips on hand to accommodate the massive number of entries for these tourneys.

Regarding the cash games... the WSOP crew is doing everything they can to accommodate the players. During the day, all of the event tables are needed for tournaments. As soon as the fields shrink down enough to open tables (which happens to be late evening) WSOP started running cash games for the hoard of players chomping at the bit to play. It would be nice if Cherokee could acquire about 20 extra tables of their own (similar to the WSOP tables) that could be set up during the event for all the extra action.

There is so much potential for this Circuit stop. I only hope Cherokee can get their act together and realize that potential and capitalize on it. I fear that the two parties (WSOP and Harrah's Cherokee) may become frustrated with the situation which could be very detrimental to future Cherokee events. I believe the bulk of responsibility lies with Harrah's Cherokee to make future circuit events successful. With the monopoly that Cherokee has on regional poker, this could turn into the biggest and best stop of the whole circuit. But Harrah's Cherokee needs to decide that is what they want and take the necessary steps to make it happen.

As a poker player in the monopolized region, I truly hope Harrah's Cherokee makes the correct decisions.

As poker players we really need to express to Cherokee how important this event is to us and let them know we want this event and future Cherokee events to thrive. We are the voice of the poker community and we have to make our wishes known in a professional/presentable manner. Good luck to everyone still in playing in this event! See you at the tables.

Harrah's owns the WSOP so any problems is Harrah's/WSOP joint problem in my opinion. It doesn't just rest on the Cherokee location casino. It's a traveling road show with all the moving parts the joint responsibility of both the casino as well as the traveling WSOP crew, which did a great job imo, but they've gotta communicate and work it out together. I will agree the in house casino seems to be a little lackluster in its preparation, and perhaps its a lot to take for them, but that's just a general view and I've seen improvement each year and the staff dealers are nice. Year 1 was terrible regarding any cash game situation period.

Again, I have noticed improvements each year but one thing they can't get right which is a Cherokee specific problem imo, is the cash game and dealer situation. The night before Event #1 there were a bunch of empty tables, with no dealers available and wait/interest list galore for awhile. They should have dealers waiting around to make money if anything, not a complete lack of them. I waited over an hour for a 2/5 NL table Friday around noon. That may be standard for other circuit events as well, not sure, but basically the cash room is tiny and just might not be much they can do about it until later in evening when they can open tables elsewhere like they do, but unfortunately didn't check any of those out this time.

I really believe that Harris Cherokee does a nice job for the event I've been to several and with the size of this event it generally runs very well I think one of the biggest obstacles to the room been taking very seriously is the lack of the ability to use electronic devices on the poker room a lot of players get very frustrated by this one challenge

Rumor has it the poker room will begin running LIVE dealer tournaments sometime in August 2015. I believe it will be on a trial run to see what kind of crowds it generates. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this?

Unless they add more live tables, I would think not. They only have ten and there full on the weekends. Maybe during the week.

Haven't heard any such thing myself. Anthony hasn't mentioned it. PokerPro is perfect for the MTT's, I certainly hope there's no switch.

Can anyone tell me if either a live or electronic table version of PLO Hi usually runs on Saturday evenings? If so is seating usually available or is the wait long? Thanks in advance!

Yep. Usually runs around noon on Saturday through Sunday evening if the game is good. Eight players on the list now. The wait can be long as the 4-6 regs often play the entire time. But you can get a seat. I'll be there around 7-8ish tonight and plan on playing through Sunday. Say hello if your there. I'm 40'ish guy with red hair. If your a PLO player I can put you on some weekday homegames depending on where your from (only if you play bad lol)

Starting tonight players will now be allowed to use electronic devices at the tables. The only stipulation is no two way communication while engaged in gaming activities. So players will still need to step away from the table while texting or making a phone call.

Genuinely curious, as I live in SC but haven't been to Harrah's Cherokee yet - but are there really many grinders there at all? I almost always see 2-3 tables running on bravo besides the weekend, which brings it to 7-8.

By grinder I mean people who play largely for a good chunk of their personal income.

Seems like it's just too sparse to make a decent living playing there full time. Maybe I'm wrong?

Good decision. The blarring hits of 80's rock was a buzz kill. This especially makes sense on the e-tables where there is no dealer giving verbal instructions.

There are maybe 2 fellas making a small living there, and then you also have probably another 3-4 degens that are at best surviving on poker to feed their gambling habits that live there at the casino. I haven't been around for a while, but that's what I remember of it.

Please dear God don't turn the weekly tournaments into live dealt tournaments..

Huge props on finally correcting that rule with electronic devices though.

Will the new River Valley Casino have a poker room? Anyone know regarding poker there? All I know is that it opens in August. The official Ceasars webpage is pretty vague regarding anything gaming related there. They have a list of casino games, and it doesn't mention poker anywhere on the page so I feel like there wont be poker.
