They finally seem to be running the must move correctly at 1/2. Pretty happy with last two sessions. Only problem is when the main person goes on break.

What's different now?

Taking a quick nap and heading over to play a session.

Even if they did, it would still have to be $7/rake. You wouldn't want to play in such a game anyway.

I went back a few pages and I gather the live tables are all 2/5 NLHE? Any other live games offered now (PLO would be nice!)? We are heading there July 2. Never been.

Awesome, my roll can't afford it, but maybe I can satellite in for it. Hopefully the 1/2 game is really good during the series.

There are only 5 games running today. What's the deal?

Has anybody played the Tuesday tourney? If so, how many players were registered? Did you feel it was worth playing? Myself and a friend are thinking of making the 3hr trip up there. We will also be playing table games too but was curious about the poker room.

Any idea when they plan on using the 3 new tables? Maybe this weekend for the 4th?

They are in use already, or were the weekend before last when I was there.

I've noticed that BravoPokerLive shows 2 or 3 games of 2-5 nl going into the wee hours of the morning every night this week. is this the norm? Are the tables full? Is one a must move? Are the games any good or is it the same group of tight-assed grinders night after night? Thanks in advance for any responses. Maybe I'll come donate soon.

It's worth coming and checking out. Even during the week. Not that different from other poker rooms.

Not that different from most poker rooms?!
The Cherokee poker room is 1 of a kind, and not in the best way.
I would like to know in what way is this room like most poker rooms?

Borgata is best, Taj used to be good, Tropicana was good, Biloxi good, Vegas good. Cherokee is closest for now, it's profitable, it's good.

To answer your query: There is poker. Gambling is going on.

It is easy to attack Cherokee--they have so many flaws. If you don't like it, the next closest legal poker is in Florida 300 miles away.

Think about this: You are in business making a lot of money, you are one of the most profitable establishments of your type, your product is in high demand, and addictive, you have a monopoly in half of North Carolina, and your nearest competition is 300 miles away. You don't have to be perfect. That's the way Harrah's is running the Cherokee casino.

NinjaA, I would think that you would like the convenience of Cherokee. If you want comps in Cherokee you have to hit the slots or be a roller in the pit. If you are dumping $10,000 a month toward Cherokee's bottom line your every need would be met. Guaranteed.

I've always had a good time in Cherokee. I find it pretty pricey for what it is; I miss the late 90s at the Horseshoe in Tunica, comped rooms, free buffet tickey at any time, and good food, too, free alcohol at anytime--what a freakin' place that was.

If I had to rate Cherokee on a 100 scale: 88 B+ good but lacking.

Alcohol at Cherokee: Always ask your bartender what the well liquor is. $10 for a shot of Patrón is crazy. I think Jose mixto is the well for $4. I found Teacher's Irish Cream in the well for $4, a great bargain.

Awesome to see that 6 tables are running on a Thursday night, even if it is the week of the 4th. This weekend will be wild.

Played for 15 hours yesterday in a really good game. The place was full all day. I saw one ruling that I was unsure about though:

Player 1 had Q8o and Player 2 had 67dd, with other callers also that were irrelevant. Flop was 9d10dJx. Turn 8x. River 8h. Player 1 tables hand and says "I have three 8s with a straight." Player 2 says "i have a straight too" and tables his hand. Everyone else mucks. Dealer gives Player 2 the pot and Player 1 thought Player 2 had made a flush and didn't worry about it. No one else really paid much attention because we assumed the dealer was correct and we just missed the flush.

One hand is played out after that and the second hand is being dealt when Player 1 realized he had the winning hand.

The dealer called the floor to the table and after it was explained to them they asked Player 2 to give Player 1 the pot. They made sure they told them he did not have to pay him but it would be appreciated.

First question, how can they allow a hand to be disputed 2 hands later? Second question, if they are going to allow it to be disputed then why shouldn't the casino be responsible for paying Player 1 since it was ultimately a dealer mistake.

Everyone makes mistakes but I'm not sure if this was handled correctly. In the end (after much hesitation), Player 2 gave Player 1 the pot and the floor comped Player 1 a free buffet.

Shouldn't player 2 have gotten a free buffet?

Sorry, that is what I meant. Player 2 got the free buffet for being generous.
