One of the "regulars" said that past play would also be comped. That would be nice, especially for the "regulars". Is this fact or fiction? Just curious.

Fiction, it will only be for future play.

It is just the beginning. Look for many more tournaments with different structures and buy-ins.

They need some tournaments, but I guess they can't really run much til they get more tables...

The casino hotel rooms are sold out every weekend through November. Anybody here know of any good hotels nearby that are decent?

Anybody have an eta on PLO?

I was there on Saturday night, but the wait at that point was 2-3 hours according to the gentleman / hosting. I went with the wife to watch her play some slots, never realizing poker had made its way into Harrahs!!

The tables were full, I saw waiting list of 12-20 names on the 1/2 list and I think 10 or more on the 2/5 list. I "think" I saw Omaha tables listed too? We left about 1:45am and they were all still full!!

I only had $100 on me and we didn't expect to be there more than 2-3 hours so I did not even bother to sign up. However now that I know, I am expecting to go a few times a year, MORE if the trips "pay" for themselves!

This got me so excited I dusted off the poker books, scratching around now deciding where to get in online to get practice! I got out of the whole deal a few years back when they were getting close / passing all the laws against playing.

Was reading another rumor that Harrahs hired a big gun in online gaming, maybe they are going to go online too?

I am looking fwd to going back, time to get in some play!!

Anybody else think they should have 10 man DONs (double or nothings) sngs instead of paying out 70/30??

good for both as they finish faster and they are less variance.

Here is the problem with running PLO.

You generally have a couple of 1-2 games running in the morning on the weekend and more people dribble in to play that along with the 3-6 limit game which generally starts up sometime around noon. By the afternoon you have 5 NL200 games going with one limit game and the staff has a NL500 game listed. They only have seven tables so they try to reserve the last table for NL500. It usually gets off or else they use the last table for NL200.

Whenever you might get enough interest in PLO there simply isn't a table for it. Until the expansion, don't expect PLO or stud.

Right now there would be a riot by the cash grinders if they tried to run tournies on the weekend. Plus they rake more on the cash game tables than off the SNGs, so it ain't happening till they expand.

I have seen expansion mentioned here a few times and a guy I know is bidding on the the fountain work for the drinks / bar system. Is there any kind of official links or word about the "expansion" that mentions a bigger poker room, etc?

Based on the evidence, they could add 3-4 tables easily on the weekend just to meet the current supply of players and I suspect the supply will = the tables as they grow. IOW if they went to 20+ tables, they would be full on the weekends, HOPEFULLY with the same curious folks that normally play slot machines / that don't mind paying off folks who can play.

The question will be, if they have 50% of the tables sitting empty 75% of the time (168 hours per week) not sure if they will invest in the tables? I am an accountant, I think in terms of break even analysis, etc.

Then again, those slot machines are probably $$$$ too and I bet they have a worse "empty" ratio...

Based on limited observations there has been limited crossover between the cash crowd and the SNG crowd. I can count on one thumb the number of regulars who like the SNG structure.

Again, based on a limited look, the people playing the SNGs haven't a freaking clue what they are doing. The juice ain't an issue, its the variance. If you don't mind that, play em.

The weekday games don't have a lot of action from what I see so I suppose the SNGs would be fine as long as you aren't gonna chop.

The games are pretty funny to watch, the blinds will be 200-400 and there will be six limpers, and then someone will bet 400 and everyone will fold. Awesome.

By the time the new construction is finished total casino floor space in Cherokee will basically double and yes, the poker room expansion is almost a certainty.

There is no room to add additional tables as they are currently configured. I have heard rumors that they may reconfigure and expand to 20 tables in just a few months but I think that is just a rumor at this point.

The line we get from the staff is that they haven't done, and won't do any advertising for the poker room because they think if they did they might have 700 people show up on the weekend with only 7 tables. But they think they can fill out a room of 25 tables for weekend play once they advertise the room.

I do know they did some advertising of the SNGs this month but the jury is out on how much effect, if any, this will have.

I am pretty confident that they can easily support a 20-25 table card room there and make out fine. Do some rake calculations, 40 hands per hour times five bucks a drop times seven tables.

There are usually no raises preflop unless a few select guys are there, then it ranges from $8 to $15.

Preflop raises are $6-8 dollars and there will be 2-3 players to the flop. Play is very aggressive on the flop. Typical table 6 or 7 guys will be more or less the equivalent of Pokerstars NL100 nits.

You can catch trout right outside the entrance to the poker room. In the creek.

I was there labor day weekend and noticed the 1/2 seemed to have a lot of super weak players at it. It looked to me like the 1/2 was more profitable than 2/5, is that normal? BTW... I coming again this weekend.

Thats about right. The 2/5 games are never that good. Pot avereages tend to be just a little more (and sometimes less) than at the 1/2.

Also, there was an 1/2 PLO game today, ran for at least 10 hours. Good Game.

Yea, I played in it. The first 2 hrs of playing the pot average was at ~100. Were you playing?
