Based on the evidence, they could add 3-4 tables easily on the weekend just to meet the current supply of players and I suspect the supply will = the tables as they grow. IOW if they went to 20+ tables, they would be full on the weekends, HOPEFULLY with the same curious folks that normally play slot machines / that don't mind paying off folks who can play.
The question will be, if they have 50% of the tables sitting empty 75% of the time (168 hours per week) not sure if they will invest in the tables? I am an accountant, I think in terms of break even analysis, etc.
Then again, those slot machines are probably $$$$ too and I bet they have a worse "empty" ratio...
By the time the new construction is finished total casino floor space in Cherokee will basically double and yes, the poker room expansion is almost a certainty.
There is no room to add additional tables as they are currently configured. I have heard rumors that they may reconfigure and expand to 20 tables in just a few months but I think that is just a rumor at this point.
The line we get from the staff is that they haven't done, and won't do any advertising for the poker room because they think if they did they might have 700 people show up on the weekend with only 7 tables. But they think they can fill out a room of 25 tables for weekend play once they advertise the room.
I do know they did some advertising of the SNGs this month but the jury is out on how much effect, if any, this will have.
I am pretty confident that they can easily support a 20-25 table card room there and make out fine. Do some rake calculations, 40 hands per hour times five bucks a drop times seven tables.
