I disagree about the amount of dealers in the Carolinas with years of experience. Even though there haven't been casino poker games, there are underground games all over NC/SC. They may have to learn "better" procedure (especially when there's a camera watching) but they'll be way ahead of any new dealer just starting out.
Now why aren't all of them applying? I can imagine most of them don't want to work for Harrah's. Harrah's Cherokee specifically. And/or the pay isn't as good as their current dealing job.
I also heard from a floor for a crew that run some of the MS tournaments that they applied for jobs as floor and dealers and they were told they didn't have enough experience. And these are people who have 10+ years dealing tournaments all over. So who knows, there's tons of weird poker room politics....
