I played the 1-2 PLO during 2017 WSOP in April and if I remember correctly it was $2 bring in and $200 max buy in? Such a horrible PLO structure LOL. Is that still the case?

Yes, and I agree its horrible. It's probably the softest game in the room. Several of the 5/5 regs went broke. That game can be great or meh, depending on the lineup. I wish they would change it up a little, say 2/2 with a $5 bring in. The 1/2 is way to small and the 5/5 is too big for me. With match the stack the 5/5 plays bigger than most. Not usual for everyone to be > than 1000bb.

I play a 1-2 PLO $5 bring in $500 max game in Florida that is probably the sweet spot for PLO structure in that there's money to be made but not a ton of money to be lost because the game is so incredibly soft. While waiting for a seat I watched somebody run a $800 stack to $5k in the span of 10 minutes. I also like 2-2 w/rock at Hard Rock Hollywood, it's a $1,000 max so I imagine that's similar to the 5-5 at Cherokee before late at night when stacks get deeper.

Any have input about Memorial Day Weekend waitlists for 2/5?

I booked a nearby hotel to play Sat - Mon, but starting to get concerned waitlist will be too crazy to even get in. I wouldn't want to be waiting over an hour really. Are they still kicking people after 10 minutes of standing up?

Did the BBJ hit? I see the jackpot is at 88k at the reserve now at 4k. Promotion 160k.

It will be busy, but since you are staying close you just need to keep checking Bravo and utilize call ahead. If you go and play golf all day and expect to walk in at 7pm on Saturday and get in a game you got no chance. But if you're there to play poker it will be easy to see the list and call ahead and not have to wait too long.

They aren't very strict about picking someone up after 10 min. But now there is a 30 min dinner break where your chips stay on the table and a hour or hour and a half dinner break where they pick you up, but you go to the top of the list no matter what when you are finished eating.

Yeah about 2 weeks ago. Straight flush over straight flush at 2/5. For having one of the worst bad beat qualifiers ever, people are hitting it relatively often.

For the hour and a half dinner break, can you return with the chip stack you had when you left if you have more than the starting limit?

Thanks for the reply. I only am there to play poker so I'd be on the list by noon each day.

I assume you can (have to?) keep your original stack. But knowing how poorly they run that room it's anyone's guess and probably different floors will give you different answers. I'll try to remember to ask next time I'm there.

Yeah you won't have any issues.

Could go either way but I would expect the opposite. I would expect you must comply with the cap.

No idea when the WSOP Circuit is coming back. Probably not until 2022 if I had to guess.
Check that … WSOP Circuit coming to Cherokee August 12-23. Nothing official announced that I can find, but several dealers were talking about it and I just saw a notice on Facebook that Top Shelf Dealers is looking to hire dealers for that event.

I guess we will be getting a full Circuit schedule announcement coming in the next month or so.

Any news if they still have the plexiglass up and are requiring masks? I was in LV the other week and they were starting to take the plexiglass off the tables. From some of the LV vloggers you can see the rooms without plexiglass or masks.

It does not bother me if a mask is needed, more wondering. I'll be up there next week and will make sure to bring some extras if they are needed.

Can someone say what the current rake is for a 1/3 NL game? Thanks.

They don't have 1/3 but do have 1/2. The rake is 10%, capped at $7. There is an additional $1 taken for promos once the pot reaches $20.

Sounds great, hopefully they have a better poker room where they don't try to rape you with the rake. I live in Atlanta and refuse to go to Cherokee unless the circuit is in town.

No poker at the Kings Mtn Casino for a number of years. Probably not until hotel/event center is complete.

Regardless of what they do with Rake, that poker room is going to be crazy good with action for the first 12 months. maybe longer

No mask or temp checks. Still 8 handed and Plexiglass but it's only side dividers.
A few dealers had info that they want to remove Plexiglass but no firm date. Said the will probably keep the 2 panels on either side of the box. Said they would probably keep it 8 handed even after Plexiglass is down.

WSOP is coming in August and at least one other time this year.

8 handed play as new standard could be the only thing associated with pandemic that didnt suck.

I heard from one of the project managers. Basically no set timeline but not in near term plans. They want to get most ROI out of space early on. I.e. they make a lot more money putting slots in the same sq ft as poker room.
