A Tax Return is your money that they borrowed for free.

What is the week night action up there like? I'm thinking of going tonight for a couple of hours.

It's ok. Wednesday is typically the slowest night of the week though.

Last night there were 3 or 4 full tables of 1-2 running about midnight. The 2am tournament brought the number of cash tables down to 2.

I think the early tournament filled up(90 players) and I think there were about 40 entrants in the 2 am tourney.

I don't know how it was after the 2am tourney ended.

So weeknights have a 2am tourney? How many does that attract? What time does the early tourney start and is there late regristration?

They did last night. Like I said, I heard the early tourney filled up (90 max players) and the late night had about 40 enter. Just what I heard.

Schedule for today says and I quote: 7pm; Reg 1pm $50+10NLHE. I don't think there is a late night tourney tonight.

Call them and ask for the poker room. They will tell you current amount of tables running.

Does anyone else suffer from very dry, almost rash-like skin from this casino?

On another note, what is the best way to get a room comp via poker play?

You don't have to play much at all to get comp'd room offers during the week...on the weekend is another story however.

Any advice on the best way to get the free weeknights (not via receiving the direct mailings)? So far I've only played Fridays and Saturdays and logged about 8hrs per session each time.

I spoke with one of the Floor, the young guy, dark hair. He was very unhelpful and didn't seem interested in answering room comp questions.

I don't know that there's a secret to getting a room comp'd other than logging enough hours to pay enough rake. I put in 2 10 hour sessions a few months ago, and they started emailing me offers through my Total Rewards card. I would think you are very close.

There's never availability on the weekend, though. Ever.

I just tried logging into the total rewards site and booking a random weekday block of nights Mon-Thu ending March 1st and it showed all rooms completely comped. I guess this answers my previous question.

Whats your tier level?

Gold- sometimes a M-Thu. Never a weekend
Platinum- better chance at weekday. Occasional weekend(if it's slow).
Diamond- any weekday, baring a special event, any weekend with advance notice.

It's important to get to Diamond if you want room comps. Easy to maintain once you get there. You can keep your status for the next year + 3 months. Ex. earn in 2012 keep until march of 2014.

The website is best way to go for a room comp. However, Harrahs system is weird. I have 4 different room comps from now until Apr 15th. If I remove my offer code and just use my tr# i actually have more available dates in Feb. then I do if I use as offer code. Makes no sense. Available dates in March and April are the same, offer code or not. Just to show what a difference tier score makes the only blackout date for me is march 3rd for the next two months. Diamond is fairly easy to get just playing poker. So try it with and without a code it does make a difference sometimes. They do blackout huge amount of dates and every weekend if you are a lower tier, but if you can stick it out it gets considerably easier. It doesn't hurt to call either, if you cant get a room ask for something off property. Most times they will comp that or give you a much lower rate $25-$45 a night at a decent hotel.

i know several diamond players including me that have blackjack problems and still cannot get comp every weekend. during the summer you can forget about getting a room on weekend if you just play poker.

Do they offer a poker rate?
I'll never be able to stay during the week but would like to stay almost every saturday night this summer, plan on playing 20-30hrs a weekend.
Currently I'm only gold level but I'm sure I'll move up soon.

If not, can anyone reccomend hotels within Asheville range with reasonable rates for the summer season?

Not sure if your trying to chop a drive up or something, but Asheville is a hour away from the casino.

Your best option would probably be to work a rate out with a local hotel and pay them up front for a month at a time. In 2010, I had it worked out with the pocahontas 2 miles away from casino for $35/night... not that nice of a place at all, but i just look for a close place to take a shower and sleep. Once you start to know people and chop up rooms it can get pretty cheap.

Thanks for the info, I never even thought to try to work out a long term deal with a local hotel. That's a good idea.
I'm not looking to chop anything, I generally don't like relying on others, I'm a pretty selfish dude.

This is a common misconception.

Tier level has no direct effect on whether you can get a comped room or not.

Comped rooms are based on your ADT. If you just play poker, your ADT won't be high enough to get weekend rooms on even half-busy weekends. However, you should be able to get rooms during the week. I am a Diamond member (exclusively from poker) and I cannot get weekend rooms unless I book 3 months in advance for a non-busy Friday night.

The Pocahantas, Golden Eagle, and others are good options like JediBurke said. The Chief motel is right across the road from the casino and they offer weekly rates (something like $150/wk). These places never fill up during the week, but on busy weekends, make sure you don't try and find a place at 11pm. Also, a lot of these hotels are not chains, and the office closes at like 9pm, so you might want to go check in before playing poker.

Ruth Chris steakhouse is suppose to open in mid 2012.

Wish they also upgrade the food court food as well. The pizza is borderline disgusting.

I doubt they will update the food court, even though it is sad.

Ruth's Chris should be awesome, but it will obviously be very expensive and not an option to eat at more than once a month or celebrating something special imo. I've heard that it will be privately run, so atleast that is good news.

I don't understand why ppl so happy about live dealers? Do u actually like getting Half the hands AND tipping dealers? You are basically happy to be making less money. Electronic tables are the only reason to even go to cherokee. If they get live dealers il hit Florida where at least there won't b 1000 nits

I know this is a little off topic but i am just starting to get into video poker and was wondering if there are any video poker machines in cherokee with good payouts. If so where are they located in the casino. Someone was telling me the pot of gold machine and shamrock 7's machines are good. I like to play jacks or better mostly.

I'd like to know this too. I was looking around over the weekend and mostly saw Double Double Bonus machines with bad pay tables. I didn't see any JOB machines, but my search wasn't very thorough.
