I am very skeptical on the "this is what the players want." excuse. This should in theory get the tournament over sooner which benefits the casino, not the players. It's a legit structure for the turbo dailies, but not for a $400 buy in tourney.

Seems like the CoC promo brought in some action despite the circuit event happening at HSI. Hopefully the good promotions continue.

Antes make tournaments go faster. It gives the players something to play for and a reason to attack. People light 4 and 5 bet in effort to win the antes. You have to play loose (or get really lucky) or you blind out. Without antes the tournament is essentially just a cash game that raises its blinds every 40 minutes.

I don't know if I believe that the players requested this format either. I know a couple people have been vocal against it to both dealers and floor.

Someone bring Jason and Horseshoe back

3/6 FLHE runs most days, 6/12 FLO8 runs on Fridays, and 3/6 FLO8 runs on Saturdays. Other limit games rarely run if ever, though I occasionally see a list for Stud8 and it is listed as an option on Bravo.

I had the shrimp egg rolls. They were not good. Matter of fact they were down right terrible.

Chicken fingers & fries seems to be the most popular.

You guys have a nice poker room. Dealers are pretty good too. Played in a really fun game on Friday. Good action, good chatter, lots of laughs. Thanks for the hospitality.

Ill just leave a few things here that I overheard this weekend.
1) A few of the better dealers/floors are leaving soon to go to the new casino in DC.
2) The cage in the poker room, even though already understaffed most times, is going to fixed hours.
3) Middle-upper management told the poker floors to tell the players if they had any issues with how things are handled or any new changes of JACK that the players should direct their issues to JACK via social media comments on twitter and facebook.

Again, it was a good run...

Maybe Hollywood Indiana will get some of their business back if things keep going this way.

I've seen all 3 of those things from the Cleveland JACK room and hasn't really done much in terms of overall turnout... just the monopoly giving them the ability to treat us like second class citizens some more.

The problem is they have the same humdrum people that were making decisions after TK at HW back in the day making the same ho hum decisions here at JACK. They are conservative and very happy with how things are now. They should just drive 1.5 hrs North and visit Columbus' room. They don't gaf how the players feel. I'm not shocked that the recent wave of people bailing had little to nothing to do with the Cincy poker scene pre-Horseshoe. Most of the remaining floors are complete imbeciles.

What do people think of the new cards? Just wondering if I'm in the minority or majority when it comes to hating the jumbo sized print on the cards and that these feel flimsy and cheap (compared to the nicer KEM type cards). Playing Omaha I practically have to pick up my entire hand off the table like playing 5 Card Draw in western movies just to spread it out to read it or look at my hand one card at a time. Plus they just feel so cheap and they get warped and bent very easily from all the extra squeezing to read the jumbo print on the card.

If you're going this month, there will be a $500 high hand every 30 minutes starting at 12:30 PM on Sundays. Should double the normal sized crowd to at least 10-15 tables?? Cincy is a little nittier than Columbus, IMO (due to the smaller max buy-ins).

I also HATE the jumbo index cards. The quality of the new cards is **** as well.

I said most, not all.

They have such a good opportunity to be an amazing room, but the ones who make the decisions are very out of touch with what players would like.

Are they the same kind of cards they use, on the table games? I don't like them. I have enough trouble protecting my hand playing holdem, and they seem cheap. I can only imagine what your dealing with playing omaha.

I like the jumbo index.

I also like that they went back to KEM over Gemaco. The Gemacos are heavy and brittle whereas the KEM cards can be bent back a bit without creasing. The Gemacos also had trouble with the shuffling machines, which would slow down the game.

Switching back to KEM is the best thing they've done since becoming Jack.

A couple of the regulars last night said there was only 109 entrants in the 50K grtd. Maybe other regional events hurt it? By comparison, there was 94 in last night's 10K.

Columbus had a tournament, HPT was 45 minutes south, and the WSOP Cherokee main was this last weekend. It was a big weekend for poker. Who would pick the 50k guarantee over tournaments with actual structure sheets except players who don't travel? Also maybe some bum hunters haha.
