This room is such a joke. No hoodies, no headphones, $8 RAKE, and horrible dealers...what's next, are they going to ban players from wearing hats?? Half the dealers in this poker room speak English as a third language, and cannot ascertain which player has won the pot.

The 5/10 has been running every Friday and Saturday for about 4 months.
The past month or so its been running on Sundays as well.
Starts a little earlier on Sundays.
During the week it's hit or miss, it ran yesterday and tonight.

not poker related but what has happened to the blackjack/craps mins on the weekends? are there $5 tables friday or saturday?

i make a 45 min drive from rockford to elgin a few nights a week to play 1/2 and 2/5 here.. after tolls and gas i spend about $25 each time just to make the trip. the rules suck, rake sucks, and comps suck, but so do the players. id like to sit with you guys and complain but the rake and rules probably wont change.. and maybe its for the better.. keeps serious grinders away i beat the **** out of this game (not a brag)

weekends are usually 15 min for roulette, 20-25 for blackjack, not sure about craps.. go there on a slow weeknight and you can find $15 blackjack havent seen it lower than that though..

I prefer to play my poker elsewhere but when I do play @GVCElgin it feels like a cave with vampire bats all around.

SO, we are leaving the Brighton with our drinks. The old timer Mgr asks,
"How's your day going?" "Great!" we say. He says, "Well if you try to leave with those drinks, it won't be so great". Rather than using a tactful approach
and explaining the difference in liquor license restrictions,he goes right for the jugular.

BTW - Lady Luckbox slayed em at slots, while I took a beating from da kid to my left who picked up 10 pocket pairs in an hour. Bullets twice.

Yeah it's a ****ty spot to grind to say the least but I still beat the hell out of the 1-2 games there......still manage to make a decent hourly/weekly/monthly.......make the drive from Rockford about 6 times a month to play at GVC.

Finally! They are now heavily touting the new Limit 10-20 Omaha 8 game. Played my first 5 hour session a couple days ago. Card dead, lost a couple hundo (the Missus more than made up for it). Friggin slots. Heading back ASAP.

The Good
Very soft. Poor card selection and position. Short buy-ins, quick gamble so they can go to the 2-5 NL table. Over the session, occupied seats ranged from 5 to 10 players.

The Bad
High rake.

Half kill. If you scoop, you post the $15 no matter the pot size, but you can also raise your arse off.
Some nice pots every hand and a few large ones ($500)

every once in a while, stupid high rake and alot of other stupid rules, crappy room etc.....games can be hit or miss.

Turning to pull into their parking garage last night and there was a cop poaching traffic - standing in the middle if the intersection at the stop sign writing seat belt tickets. Can the city of Elgin be this stupid? -I will not be making that drive again in the too distant future.

So is this place in Elgin pretty much a no way? I just moved to Naperville from East Coast so trying to find the right game to play. Have been to Hollywood in Aurora twice which is LOL rake and some weird rules and only 1-2 (but super soft), HShoe which is obviously the best around but an hour away and Majestic which was gross.

Any other good spots?

Planning to play HPT, MSPT and Chicago Poker Classic Summer Series if anyone interested in car pooling from Naperville / swapping action or anything.

If u play 2-5, 5-10 its quite beatable. Hi rake in 2-5 but 5-10 is 10$ a half hour which is much better. Eitger way, weird rules, horrible dealers, and even worse players, so not too bad a game overall.

U arent really that close to elgin either. I would go a few times to check it out urself but generally ur best bet is to go to horseshoe at non peak traffic times and leave to go home when traffic is over

U can also look into chicago charitable games and rockford charitable games. Schedules are on their websites. Might work out closer to u at times
