I swear, the 1-3 plays like the Aurora 2-5.
It's a totally different game from the 1-2 pre-covid days.

I've seen countless hands go 6 ways after a $20 or $25 pre-flop raise.
That NEVER happened pre-covid.

You cant just bet every flop and get folds 75% of the time like before.
Now you actually have to do a lot more thinking

Yeah, I've been 3 times now since they reopened, usually getting in afternoon on a Saturday and playing through to early hours, the game changes when evening draws in from being able to raise pre and bet and take it a lot to what you're describing above.

Going card dead in the evening is a little frustrating but if you make a hand you auto-win like a 70+bb pot LOL.

Going to South Bend this weekend, will be interested how it compares.

Ended up staying at RCG as Bravo had 50+ on the waiting lists!

Is this always the case right now, and do things actually move along? Looking at Bravo now at 1pm on a Thursday they have 23/10 on the lists for 1-3/2-5, yikes.

Played last night, absolutely amazing table at various points in the night, last two hours every hand was $25 and 4+ ways to the flop. Many were $80 and 3+ ways. Multiple players calling flop and turn bombs with any piece etc. Dream table.

Here again, actually a decent room with great action at 2 5, issue is the wait is often long because they can't staff enough to open all the tables.

Good action last night again, only played 1-3 as was with a n00b mate of mine so wanted to sit with him. Sort of play last night fairly standard:

I open QQ to $12 UTG, folds to SB who calls, BB folds. Flop K 3 3 and SB rips for my 350 effective, shows KK when I fold.

limped pot I check option in BB with 68o, flop 5 7 9r, I lead $10 crazy woman rips $200 I call and beat her A9dd.

Variance between tables is insane.

There was a 5-10 match the stack running that had a number of stacks north of 10k on it. I noticed 2 what I would call whales/VIPs from RCG 2-5 playing it too. Would have at least considered sitting if I brought more cash with me and wasn't with a mate.

Anyone have any idea if the vaccine mandate is enforced here? They are technically just outside of Cook County, I believe, but not sure what they're doing with respect to it

Nope, Club GVC still. They will convert eventually and you can transfer GVC pts across to Total Rewards apparently but not tried personally.

Playing here tonight, I know there are a few lurkers around these parts that go here. Is the steakhouse there actually terrible? It does not look good.

Given the fact they make the world's worst pizza, the odds of them making a good steak . . . good luck

Honestly, it is hard to f-up pizza that badly.

No flavor, no sauce, too much grease on top (pizza shouldnt be so "shiny")

It's embarrassing to think a major corporation could make pizza that badly.

Rivers is up on bravo I noticed, they must be close to opening.
I'm extremely interested in how that room impacts GVC.

They've stalled on opening the old buffet.
When they re-opened all the talk was that it would be ready by New Year's
Last time I peeked in there it looks like they are not even close.

I figured Rivers opening would have led them to speed up the process.

I was thinking that it would massively affect it, for me Rivers is a 20-30m closer drive from my house than GVC is and I would imagine it will be busy.

The rake at GVC is the highest of any non-underground game I've ever seen in the US outside of California (and in AZ they take a dollar from the SB before even dealing the cards), but I still maintain it's easily beatable even at 1-3.

The thing is a LOT of people at GVC aren't travelling out from the city, so GVC will remain the closest room I think.

I suspect initially GVC will slow down a bunch (though they just hired a ton more dealers, every table in the place was running on Friday just about), but will be interesting to see medium or long term effect.

Shoe room will likely die a death in the not too distant future, they still aren't open at weekends.

lol I've never tried the pizza, usually when I'm leaving I grab a diet coke from the sandwich place next to the pizza place and then hate myself for paying $4 for it, and get some absolutely disgusting thing en route back to the city.

If I can be ****ed and it's still open I'll make the trip to Raising Cane's in Wrigleyville, but I live right next to a 24 hour diner that I like. The dream.

Anyway am back there tonight, LFG.

Closest I've come to a physical altercation at the table last night after seeing red after a couple of little gratuitous comments from people, good times!

Good room and standard is still trash

Lol the steakhouse is trash. There's a reason they give it out for free to sterling+. Everyone there is eating it on comps.

Regarding the $8 rake, initial indications are that rivers will have a $10 rake. Illinois poker is just a shitshow.

Guy at my 2-5 table a few weeks ago was waxing lyrical about it saying how good it was. Did not believe him

Early indications from where? And yeah it's obviously annoying but I still think it's very very beatable.

Regarding rake vs. drop. Could someone explain to me how a rake is worse than a half hour drop? One time long ago I play in Biloux (excuse the spelling, please). The game was 1-3 and it had a drop instead of a rake. Every half hour I was donating $10 to have a really bad day. At the end of a siege of second best hands I was out on losses and another $100 on the drop. So I believe a rake in the long run is less costly. True, if I win a $100 pot I'm only getting back $90, but it is a winning hand. Rake or drop, if I walk away from the table a winner for the day I'm not thinking too much on the 'green's fee' I paid for a safe, secure game. Thank you.
