You know what else sucks? Buying into a 2-5 game for $200.

It's been at least 18 months since I've last played in this room. I MIGHT go play here this week/weekend. If so, then I'll do a brief write-up of any improvements (which I'm guessing are zero) that have been made.

Pretty full house last night all but one table was going. They could of opened at 11 pm they had 25 poeple on the 1/2 list. Why do they play 10 handed here and not 9. What is with no talking your opponent while you're in a hand against them

I think they seat 10 players to a table because of the low amount of tables.

No talking when heads up is worst rule of them all there. I dont think the dealers or floor kno the reasoning behind half of the crazy rules there. They just enforce them and look at us like we r morons when we question or don't understand them. If there is a dealer in this thread please respond and explain.

I am a dealer here. I fully agree that this no talking heads up rule is a bad rule. There is no rhyme or reason that i know for this rule. I could guess all day but whats the point.

You are correct there are also other rules that are weird/ inconsistent with other rooms and general logic.
At the end of the day I'm doing my job to provide for my family. If that means enforcing rules that i dont always agree with, then thats what I'm going to do.

If anyone has any further questions ill answer to the best of my ability.

Here's another one of Elgin's great rules: You can't sit at an empty poker table and wait for your poker seat.

About 18 months ago (one of the last times that I played in the room), myself and another player were on the wait list. We were sitting at an empty table. No players, no dealer, no chips. After a few minutes the floor walks up to us and says that we can't sit at the table. I explain to the floor person that I'm waiting for a seat in the poker game. Floor person says, "It doesn't matter, you can't sit here." The guy sitting next to me, then pulls the chair back
a few feet from the table. The floor person then says, "You guys have to wait for your seats outside of the poker room."

In retrospect, I should have immediately left the casino. However, since I had just driven 30 minutes to the casino to play poker, I ended up sitting in front
of a slot machine (I didn't put a single dollar in it), until I got my seat.

Edit: I was thinking about playing here this weekend, but I decided against it. Too many bad rules, too many bad dealers, and the high rake makes the games difficult to beat.

I do not recall who told me this, but it was a middle aged guy wearing a sport jacket/suit.

BTW...Kudos to icehaze for responding in this forum. Back when I played here, there were a couple of dealers that were just plain terrible. I was not trying to imply that every dealer was bad. There were some dealers who were excellent/very professional at the table. I'm sure that icehaze is one of the good ones.

As far as I know, Alpha is an engineer with a high paying job. I doubt he could go completely bust from a 2/5 game at the GVC

Is there pretty good action on the weekends? If I came in on say Saturday would there be a long wait? Looking at maybe trying this place out since I want to play and live near Rockford.

Just to give you some background.
I live in the west suburbs and Elgin is the closest poker room to me but in recent years I have played mostly at the shoe. The last experience I had at Elgin was years ago and swore I would never return. At that visit I wAited a few hours for a 2/5 game and while Waiting I played high limit blackjack. Once my name was called I went to play poker and while playing the dealer asked me if I was chewing gum.... And I said no. He then called the manager and the manager actually looked inside my mouth for gum! So crazy. I hate to say this but I'm the guy they should want at their casino... And they were treating me terrible! So I vowed not to return.
Well... Years latest I returned and I was pleasantly surprised! Poker room... Looked nicer than before (expanded), dealers were 5 star! (Nice and good), and as far as the managers...... I will admit that I do like to check my phone a lot..... They did bust my chops...... But they did it in a much nicer way then before..... So I have to say they were 5 star too. I think they understand that there is a way to keep the rules but not be so Militant and angry with everyone. So maybe I am giving them great marks too soon.... But I will give them credit. It's way better than before.

Am I wrong? Anyone else feel the same?
