For cash I can always go elsewhere, this will be my first time going to the Nugget, I didn't go there when the Marina was still around.

I wonder how many players there are going to be.

there have been serious cut backs in promotions for the 2-4-6 LHE players. the comps and tier points were cut in half (making it more difficult to get the reduced priced buffet), the cracked aces no longer pay double in the last hour, high hands reset at $50, not $100, and the terms and conditions for being paid if you do get a high hand have also changed significantly...

Rumor has it that GN is closing their poker room this month.

Went to Golden Nugget for their monthly freeroll Tournament of Champions this Thursday (Oct 10). They announced that the poker room was closing permanently later that night, so one more AC room bites the dust. Management gave them virtually no notice, everyone was told Two days before. As of today, if you go to GN's website there are no poker links on the home page anymore. No mention of the room closing of course

That was a very very nice looking room with an amazing tournament structure. Only played their once, but I had a good time, despite getting knocked out of the tourney with AA.

they had great offers but lacked diplomatic skills in dealing with customers and lacked understanding of poker room rules and procedures. There is no way the higher management was going to put up with the nonsense any longer.

Not sure where to post this but I'll post this in both threads: as per their facebook page, the poker room is flip flopping with the High Limit Slots area. So the High Limit Slots will be in the back and the poker room will be up front.

Does that mean poker is coming back to GN?

what do they think is going to happen that is going to be any different than last time?

you are right next to the Borgata which is really the only casino in A.C. that can even increase its profit margin anymore

every time I played in a tourney it was "reg-infested" & there was usually one cash game going

now you have also internet poker which is not going to make more people show up to play at the casino IMO

anyway, this is about as exciting as a repeat of Sanford & Son

Well, one thing that MAY help is moving the poker room to the front of the casino where people can actually SEE people playing and, just like impulse buys while waiting to check out at the grocery store, could potentially trigger a unplanned decision to sit down and play.
Other than Revel's former poker room, the GN last poker room location was probably the worst I have ever seen at any casino. You could actually be standing ten feet from the poker room entrance and not know it or be able to see it.

The lack of which prevented me from even considering trips there when I went to AC.

for the ppl who used to play in gn, is the comp rooms easy to get like borgata?

it does not matter where you move the poker room IMO because increased traffic will only be on the weekends & will just take players away from other poker rooms

when the original room opened in February 2012, players came out & then they went away

my point being, there are even less players in A.C. now because of legalized poker in the neighboring states & now online

when NY state legalizes poker, it will just get even worse

there are too many rooms in A.C. already without a sufficient playerbase

for example, I live 50 miles from A.C. in South Jersey & I will be playing poker in Delaware this weekend

multiply that by 1,000's & that is why it does not matter where the GN moves its poker room

As far as things go, you can minimize the costs of a poker room in order for your gamblers to have a place to go to blow off steam. LV rooms are mostly tiny compared to Borg or ML ( or Commerce or Foxwoods ) standards

It is good to see they are giving it a go once again.
