I like how the 1/3 is 1k cap although their 2/5 is 2-1k so that is astrange.however could be better than some daytime 2/5 @ Borg and better than. Going to oceans

Other than a couple nominal typos, what wouldn't you understand that post said? I like how their 1/3 has a 1k max buyin, but don't know why the 2/5 buyin structure is almost identical

1/3 is 1-1k and 2/5 is 2-1k as per their bravo. I like how their small game will play bigger than other 1/2 around the town when I look to avoid nitty daytime 2/5. However, buyins would probably be better served as 1/3 $100-500 and 2/5 $3-1k however if they won't actually get 2/5 that often it probably won't matter but they also could just cap the 2/5 at 1.5k and keep 1/3 way it is. The location is phenomenal from what I remember but I was in there during off season last time In October a couple years ago and only went in cuz I had a room for a few nights. Hence my theory that this would probably be more optimal for a daytime game. I will be there during wpo so this could all be a moot point and daytime 2/5 @borg will be better than avg.

Another day of tier matching for me tomorrow. Plan is to swing by GN, unsure of timing, but would like to at least put in a few hours of 1/2.

Will there be a game in the morning, or does it take until early afternoon for the first table to start?

1/3 is their small game as stated above. 100-1k

Arrived mid afternoon, after being denied matching at harrahs (Cant match back to back years).

Took a short wait before I saw an open seat when top of the list.

Got lucky and chipped up. Table broke when 3 players left for dinner, and a couple others left prior when they discussed it.

Good time, took a while to get used to 1/3 sizing. Lots of high hand chasers.

I'm not good, and still left up a rack. Cigar and over to Ocean. Got felted on my last orbit at Harrahs, needed to lock up profit.

What was average stack at your table/others if you noticed?

I sat at the table closest to the front door, near the desk. I didn't notice any other tables.

When I sat, there were mostly 250 - 400 (normal) stacks. A couple 600-1000 (large) stacks on opposite ends. We added a player from the other table with about 1k, and another young reg sat with 500+ later in the session.

Average stack size does't tell the correct story, it's probably in the 500-600 range, but nobody seemed to have exactly that.

No short stackers. Lots of people that were familiar with each other, but not necessarily from just GN.

Floors didn't really seem to manage the room. Unless prompted, they didn't check for open seats to fill. The 30 minute high hand wasn't quite handled the way I thought, and because I waited for others to color up, I wasn't colored up (rack was recently filled). I suppose I was walking to the cashier anyway, but a few chips in the pocket are much easier than a rack from the poker room, into the hotel, down the escalator, through the retail area, into the casino and over to the cashier. Now I know

No flop no drop here?

Also, tableside food service they offer is it a poker room generic menu or can you get delivery from certain restaurants? Buffet seems easy to get only a few hrs a day but looks quite lousy.

I’ve never tried tier match at golden nugget. Is there even any perks other than discount at their store?

I had an interesting conversation with the shift manager regarding rules after one player was taking $100 stacks of reds to put on black or red on roulette near us. It really did not matter since he had 3 times the amount we had and there was no buy-in cap. But another person argued that if there is no cap then he should be able to take whatever he wanted off. So apparently he needed an Atlantic City poker rule book. According to the floor manager, each casino can ask for variants of existing rules from the casino commision or whoever governs them in the intern of establishing a new one. The floor manager stated that there is no official rule book and he is the end all be all for the rules. Even if he had a rule book, he would not let me see it without an exception from the commision. I received a response from the casino commision with a link to table game rules but not poker.

Basically my question is if every room can have different rules, how do you know the rules other than asking a lot of rules questions from the floorman?

Happened to read first post of this thread and found the mention of rule(s) and subsequently no official rule book circa 2011 is beyond strange. Seemingly this room has been reponeded a few times since then including very recently. I'd wonder if this is still the case and the floor guy will just make stuff up on the fly, give favor to regs etc, kind of run the room like a home game more or less. Anybody know anything regarding this?

The GN has no smaller game.
The only smaller games in town
are at Tropicana and Ocean.
GN and Borgata have better
food, but you pay for the
quality by having to play
In bigger games.

Nice to see 4 1/3 games going with 12 on the list. Obviously because of comp bonus but will be interesting to see if this holds up during WPO

Been a long time since this thread saw any air, the black Friday effect has always had an exciting effect on poker in A.C. people want to get out and burn off some stuffing and pies. That nugget had 101 runners for a 65$ 2k guar..Tomorrow is the month's end 10k, all around town this weekend is an opportunity to push, the kids are off from school and the wife doesn't have to cook so pack up a few turkey sandwiches and turn cards.

Is it correct that they still rake $2 every hand for promotions after 2 am yet there is no promotion after that time to win?

What rooms take promotion rake only when promotions are running?

Every other room has promotions running at all time. Since there is no bad beat jackpot here, there is no promo to win. It's like when you are playing short handed and are no longer eligible for the bad beat jackpot or high hand promo. Do places continue to take out money for it since your not eligible? The answer is no they don't.

I think you either misunderstood my question or you don't know of any rooms where a promotion rake is taken only during promotions. Either way, it's not reasonable to expect rooms to take promotion rake only during promotion periods.
