I haven't been in probably 8 years so I'm curious how the games are at Horseshoe and El Dorado. Is it still low-limit? Regulars or fish?

Any help would be great!

Thanks!!

If you're talking about no limit hold em, Horseshoe is 1-3 and I think El Dorado is 1-2. The games are better at Horseshoe but I hear the players are worse at El Dorado (never been, so don't know). Horseshoe has some regs but they're usually in 2-5. Most of the 1-3 players are terrible. Loose-passive but will call/shove wide ranges. Most players aren't too tricky though, so you can play pretty straight forward. If you think someone sucks, chances are they suck. If you think someone's good, they might be better than you. I play fairly ABC and value bet a tight range and get paid off pretty regularly. As you're from Dallas, I hear games MIGHT NOT BE as loose as Winstar. Good room to play in though IMO. Games often stop running around 4-6 AM and don't start back up till 9-10 AM. They have a website where you can check their promos (just google it).

From what I understand, El Dorado has less games going and they're not as focused on no limit hold em as Horseshoe (so more lower stakes limit). Again, this is just what I've heard from dealers/players at Horseshoe so no idea if it's true. USUALLY the bigger/juicier games are at Horseshoe though.

Whenever I've been to El Dorado it's just been 1/2 NLHE, but it's been a year or two. Whenever I played there the players were quite bad.

The Horseshoe has been showing 1/3 or 2/5 with no cap on Bravo on Fri-Sat sometimes lately. I'm heading up next weekend and will be curious to see how good either of those games are, if they go.

Action is not what it used to be at Horseshoe. $2-5 rarely gets going during the week & only sporadically on Fri/Sat. $2-5 is not uncapped- It's $500 buyin or 70% of big stack. Games usually shut down by 2-3am during week & don't last all night on weekends. You might catch a decent game here or there, particularly if a rich dude shows up, but they will often die down when fish loses their buyin.

I was at El Dorado this weekend. They spread 1/3 NL on the weekend while a tournament was going. Only a few ring games going.

I was at the horseshoe last night. Played premium hands and won about 150 bucks over the course of 4 hours.

I think I played the biggest pot of the night when I got in 3 ways with AK against aces and something else. Pot was about 450.

People were fish but it was more of slowly lose there money limping type of fish.

Last time I was there they had a maniac that was raising every hand 30 bucks preflop and it was great.

He's a regular from what I hear so you might get lucky and run into him.

I've been at the El Dorado 3 weekends in a row for business and have been playing the 1/3 game. There are only 2-3 tables going at any time. One time, I was at a table with about 4 decent regs and some tight old man rocks. The last few times, it has been a good mix of fish, rocks, and drunks.

I saw one guy shove about 170bb deep on a K52r flop against a guy who 3 bet him preflop, who is one of the old man rock type players who will only call with AA or KK. Well, he had AA and the drunk guy had K8o and hit another king on the river.
