I agree that it's not fair, but that has nothing to do with my point that I would prefer promos that you don't have to play badly to take full advantage of.

Honestly though, I think the whole jackpot/promo thing is a racket and just a disguise for more rake. I'm sure none of the local casinos give back to the players all that they take in promo funds.

Another reason I never go to Gila is that their comps are complicated and hard to remember. They would win market share if they tried something radical like $1 per hour.

And yeah, I'm surprised DOG hasn't caught onto the CAZ poker comp redistribution.

Fort gives you $1/hr for food and no one goes there. They were also giving $100 for 7 hours in a cash game for many months and still could hardly keep one game running.

So no one has even commented on my post about the magazine ad I read saying Gila River casinos now offer comps for poker. I am curious about what they are. Yes, I could just call and ask, but I find one often doesn't get accurate info that way.

Okay. I think Gila's locational disadvantage is lesser.

I have not heard this, but am going there this evening for the game, so will look into it.

I asked several dealers and no one seemed to know for sure what the deal is, but there definitely is some kind of thing like that they are adding. The one number I heard is $0.70 per hour. Not sure if it has started yet.

So can you cash it out like at CAZ? Is there a way to see your balance?

I am not sure. I asked and no one seemed to really know exactly how it is going to work. One staff person thought they were going to send coupons or something in the mail but that seems unlikely. Most places with a similar program seem to just keep the money on the card and you can use it when you buy food or whatever.

A little birdie told me this about the comps:

Quote:
Can't cash em out. Able to be used in the casino only.

Don't know about seeing the balance. My understanding is that while earning them went into effect June 1, redeeming them won't start until next month.

They basically give you .70 cents an hour it goes into a "bucket" from all your play in the casino from blackjack , slots , etc. You can use it just like anything else you use you card for. The only thing is the policy there is that they do not tell you what your balance is, and thats true of many casino's. It's just that many of us are familiar with Harrahs where they show you everything.

Just discovered this thread. Does anyone else play the Tues/Wed tournament? I've been playing about once a week. The structure sucks but its insanely soft.

I'm going to be at this casino this weekend, never been there. What are the typical games I can count on being played, any limit hold games?

the problem is this wasnt promoted enough. had i known about it, id left vegas, slept in a sleeping bag outside the fort if i had to, and collected the $100 every single day and saved up a TON of a bankroll. someone PM me the next time a good deal like this happens anywhere. --and thats at any casino everywhere in the entire USA

They are on bravopokerlive.com if you would like to look for yourself.

They almost always have 3/6 and 4/8 going. 8/16 goes periodically, probably 4-5 days a week and almost always on Fri/Sat nights.

They also have some smallish spread limit. Personally, I like the casino itself better than Casino Arizona and the poker room is very comfortable. With good climate control.

Thanks for the info. I'm in the hotel now and about to go down to the poker room now.

Looks like a nice place, but I can get a much better deal on a room at the Harrah's Ak-Chin (is that the right name) which is also in the area. However, it doesn't appear to me they get much poker action. What can you tell me about that place, if anything?

It's way out in the middle of nowhere, I wouldn't even call it the Phoenix metro area, and they hardly get any games. The one time I was there was either Saturday or Sunday afternoon, and there was no poker going.

Don't go there unless you really need to save some money bec you'll end up driving to Gila River to play, 15 miles away. It's an older property and while it's not a dump it's nowhere near the quality of the newer casinos. Ft. McDowell was in much the same position some years back but while they didn't build a new casino which I think they should have they at least built a first class hotel.
