I was there yesterday.
Decent crowd but wow .
Only games were in Pequot.
And still sadly no poker or poker signs of life

Poker seems to have become so low on the priority list for Foxwoods I'm beginning to think that it may never return. Especially with Mohegan opening first, the locals will establish themselves there and what would Foxwoods realistically offer to entice them back?

a seat at more than 10 tables of which half or more may not even be their normal game?

Considering that the just settled with all the poker dealers after being laid off I would say that they aren’t opening any time soon. But according to this post from the union they can be called back up to December 31 2021.

Regular tournaments that get over 50 players

You underestimate how many regulars who won't play with a pandemic raging. Mohegan is not going to establish themselves with 10 tables and 7 handed.

I'm sure if it goes well they will add tables. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see both casinos poker rooms open and thriving. But given the current state of affairs, having a head start in reopening will really hurt the competitions ability to re-establish itself.

Staffing will be the biggest problem and hurdle. It has been at the ICs here in CA.
A room will not just go out and rehire a bunch of dealers and then have them sitting around doing nothing. And dealers will not want to do nothing, getting a tax whack on the implied tips they are then not receiving. (I realize this is not the case everywhere, but in some places...) Couple that with the extra stimulus and unemployment that Congress is about to award, and it may be tough to get dealers to come back.
Check out the Bravo app and some waitlists at places like Thunder Valley, Graton, Agua Caliente and Morongo. All the regular cardrooms are shut down, and yet the ICs find it hard to get enough tables open; knowing full well that when Newsome reopens the State, the demand will return to regular levels at the venues. ICs will not hire a ton of dealers to then just have them idle in 90-120 days from now.

Played in NH rooms until they got hit with Covid intermittently. I am sitting it out at present because IMO, the pandemic is out of control. But plenty of players obviously feel differently and are raring to go. To each his own...I guess.

Anyone hearing any rumors if Foxwoods is thinking of reopening poker? Mohegan has had close to 100 people on the waitlist all day today.

Has anyone seen the "new" booking systems for rooms here? It's different...not hard to navigate

I just got an email “letter” from Foxwoods that I’m going to lose my nearly 1000 reward points on March 1st if I don’t come to the property. Has anyone else received this email about their points? I’m sure there are some people that are afraid of Covid and aren’t coming. They don’t even explain how I keep them, do I drive the 2 hours and put my card a slot machine and play 1 spin and keep my points??

Foxwoods reward points have always has a 12 month shelf life if the account is inactive. Your best bet would be to send them an email regarding the matter. Could be they will issue extensions in light of the pandemic (though I would not be very optimistic).

That's all you need to do to keep your points active for another 12 months though - put any gaming activity on it, even as little as 1 spin on a penny machine.

is foxwoods still checking ID to make sure u are from a neighboring state before they let u in? and lets say u fly to CT from texas, they would make u show proof u have quarantined for 14 days before allowed in? somehow i heard once only a few states were allowed inside.

Nah. There's No one checking that stuff. They scan temps with some video monitoring thingy as you walk in. That's it.

I can't help you there. Maybe someone else can. Might be best to check with the hotel prior to booking just to double check.

UGH... But i don’t want to lose my points. So I guess I have no choice or they aren’t going to offer another extension.

I was at a game last night and heard a little chatter about the room opening in March. Anyone have further details?

You have 1000 points which has a cash value of $500 and you won’t drive the 2 hours?! You can just drive there or get a ride and play one spin to keep your points or......drive there and cash in your points for $500. I could be wrong about cashing it in thou. Unless you’re seriously disabled, I don’t think there’s much of a problem. I wish I had 1000 points to worry about!

You can get even more than $500 buy buying certain gift cards with points, although I'm not sure what the latest hacks are with that.

Oh trust me I don’t want to lose them. So I booked a night on 2/18 - Free! I’ll come in the afternoon. My wife will go straight to the room and sanitize it and stay there. I’ll play a little bit. She plans on spraying me down with sanitizer and make me take a shower when I get back. She’s deathly afraid of the virus, I’ve already had it. But even she looks like it as a night out of the house. So I won’t be losing my points. So we’ll either get room service or I’ll go down and bring something up and have to re-sanitize.
