True. Chasers also doesn't give me two free hotel rooms a week, tons of resort dollars, free concerts and other stuff.
I'm not saying I'm happy with this, it sucks, but this being the death of the room is almost certainly false. It may even increase traffic if the promos are even better. It is starting to become clear that bigger and more frequent promotions draws better than lower permanent rake.

So I have it on very good authority that everyone will be receiving an email, asking you to vote on an increase in rake. They want to take $2 for promos making the total rake a max of $7.
Unbelievable
Just like California!

From Terri via an intermediary who may or may not be a poster here...
They are shooting for June for the move and it will be 61 tables

That line garnered a mild chuckle 2 years ago. Now it just deserves a sad, lazy, exasperated eyeroll.
I do believe the management of FW poker room is so out of touch with the poker scene that they believe it to be true

Did they hire a former charity room owner who is recently unemployed?

The ONLY way I would vote for that is if they get rid of the flippin BBJ jackpots and do HHs 7 days a week.

Agree or disagree?

They have already been doing this for many years and the game is far from over. I play in 9 different rooms semi-reg during my travels throughout the country. The ONLY two that are not currently 5+2 rake/promo are Foxwoods and Mohegan.

Except it actually is true. The best action rooms I play have the highest rake and no comps, the least action rooms are in CT which have the lowest and one in FL which pays high comps. Why people continue to ignore that high comps (and low rake) lead to nit regs taking up space while the rooms without as many of these types lead to better games is interesting.

I'll agree that rooms with less incentives for regulars (higher rake, lower comps) tend on average to have more action and looser games. This is pretty clear.

Nit regs, ABC regs are some of the easiest, stress-free, and profitable people to play against though. The money doesn't come as dramatically as action rooms, but it flows.

Paying the extra 40% rake to play a potentially looser game could be better, but it's not a slam dunk. I would probably only choose those games when the extra rake is offset by valuable promotions. If you want looser games, play weekends and later at night and table select for looser games.

$5 rake + $2 promo drop + $1 tip (unless you're a cheapskate) + $2 flop drop makes it a tough game to beat.

Throw in the fact that every table at Foxwoods is full of at least 4 cross word doing/newspaper reading OMC uber nits only there to accumulate points, collect their free desk fans, beach chairs, and coffee makers and to covet their free Sun-Thurs rooms and Hampton room access to eat some of the grossest food available in the casino (but hey its free)... lets not forget mixed in with the 4 OMC $6 raiser with KK or AA only, is at least one miserable $1-2 pro sporting his overstuffed back pack (with all his worldy possessions inside), sunglasses, Beats by Dre headphones, flat brimmed cap and the same hoodie he wears 7 days a week which allows you to smell him coming before you can see him.

ALL these combining factors make this a lousy room to play in which sucks because I really like most of the dealers and floors... Get me to some action packed lower raked crazy games at Twin River... Please and Thank You

The funny thing is, the only people who will even notice or care about these changes are the players you just described.

My point is the price of poker going up combined with having to play with 4 or 5 of these players at every table in the room makes this place less and less desirable... Imho I'm sure there are differing opinions on this topic mine just happens to be as I stated. The funny thing to me is that nobody seems to know how much the $2 flop drop sucks especially in the land of $10 nit reg pots.

I disagree. I’ve been playing 1/2 there due to the 2/5 being an even worse game, imo, plus you know....the banishment.
I’ve started keeping a log of exactly how much rake I’m paying an hour. It’s been too few hours to make an informed conclusion but my point is that there are players beyond the nit pool who care about how much rake we are paying.

On a different note, does anyone have any details about the new progressive jackpot promo?

can you help ?.. the house randomly selects a hand and you must match it?
does everything down to the suit have to match exactly?

I got a feeling the player base that dominates the 1/2 and 2/4 limit will oppose this. We'll played FW. Chase them away! Which I'm all for.

Yes. The house “draws” a high hand. The pot gets progressively bigger until it’s hit. After it hits, the next 1/2 hour a new hh is drawn.
Does not specify suits

After much thought and discussion, I have come to the conclusion that this promo sucks. Someone told me that Encore is shooting for a May opening. Can’t come soon enough. Bye bye Foxwoods

Are you allowed to play anywhere other than Foxwoods right now?

I've played Twin River a few times as well and I believe technically they wouldn't qualify as a 5+2. A couple others I've been to once or twice that may or many not have been 5+2 (honestly don't recall) include Melbourne and Tamps Hard Rock in FL, Commerce in LA, and CharlesTown in WV which was far and away the best action room I've ever played in the pre-Maryland Live era and they offered zero in comps. Chasers is another with limited comps (isn't it like $,50 an hour?) and wild action due to the lack of nits doing crossword puzzles and earning points for lounge access.

I haven’t played in most of those rooms but isn’t Chasers extra $1 only on promo days? And Twin is not $5+$2
I think it’s too early to say that MGM is an action room. Most rooms are high action when first opened

Do they 'weird' hands like 77722 as high hand, encouraging 72 to be played???

The 2nd sentence of the pics posted:

"A random hand will be chosen from a list of 20 hands (Tens full up to Royal Flush)..."

There are more than 20 hands between those 2, so not sure how the list of 20 is made.
