See, I told you I'm a fish!
Come down to Foxwoods this Saturday. I'll be the guy wearing a rose on his shirt pocket. So you'll know which table to change to.

Ha. I certainly look out for you then. That's a look I haven't seen before in the poker room.

Ok, I'm a man of my word! I'll definitely wear one.
What I'll wear over my shirt though, I can't say right now.
A sweater, a hoodie?

A cardigan (see what I did there ) and Mr. Rogers sneakers is a good look.

Hmm, didn't even think of that, thanks.
I just hope I don't disappoint. If I know you guys are on the (bum)hunt for me, it'll force me to play more disciplined.
No more limping. No more chasing draws. No more calling raises with 4 2. In other words, no more fun.
Oh well. Looking forward to it guys.
But I only play 1/2, y'all will have to move down stakes I presume.

Isnt Foxwoods still the best comps in New England for poker players? And they want MORE?! I also doubt Encore will match FW in comps so Idk what they expect.
Foxwoods is well behind Mohegan now for regs but still much better than anywhere else. I remember when MarylandLive opened and the West Virginia and Delaware regs were super excited about ML offering $1 per hour as they never had comps anywhere before that. CT players are so super spoiled in this regard.

Mohegan is just too ****ing complicated. Plus how fair is it that everyone has a diff “number” they have to hit everyday?

Don't they take take care of their top x amount of players and then the rest can burn?

Once you get the hang of Mohegans program it is pretty simple. I'm hard pressed to find an area where Foxwoods beats them.

Mohegan pays $2 for 1/2, $3 for 2/5, and $4 for 5/10
Foxwoods give $1.70/hr across the board.

Mohegans gives $10/daily food coupon for 72 hours of play per month.
Foxwoods gives $15/week food coupon for 20 hours of play per week.

Mohegan gas is dollar for dollar.
Foxwoods gas is 1.5 to 1.0

Mohegan offers a daily achievement award that pays either 25 or 100 points/free bet/free slot play. Each players daily goal resets every 3 months based on play. Foxwoods does not offer this.

Mohegan offers Choice Credits each month that can be used for entry into buffet, lounge, or to purchase show tickets. Foxwoods only offers lounge access.

Pretty much. They really take care of the poker regs compared to the occasional rec player.

It's been a long time since I've checked, but isn't Mohegan's gas price essentially 1.5x the regular price, vs Foxwoods who has pretty much market price?

This goes to Big Whoops point about catering to regs. If you have the Ascend card which many reg poker players possess you get 20 cents per gallon off to bring it down close to where Foxwoods is. It is higher but not close to 1.5 higher.....maybe 1.1 or so. I'll check next time I'm up that way.

So it was confirmed through multiple sources that the poker room is indeed moving upstairs. It will be where the slots and a few table games are. This is also the spot where the rewards desk is located.

Wow!! So we've got both CT rooms moving to areas of their respective casinos with greater foot traffic. This can be nothing but a good thing although it was an obvious move as the downsizing of their gaming floors had already began taking place.

Heard that Mohegan will be finishing up the wiring over the next 4-6 weeks and ready by end of Feb/early March. Any word on Foxwoods?

Still, where Foxwoods is placing the poker room, albeit it a much better location for us, I don't see it increasing foot traffic significantly. No one is going to be going to the Hard Rock for dinner and say to themselves "this looks interesting. Maybe I'll play this poker thing here for a couple of hours." Where it resides now may blow but I don't believe its preventing new people from playing who were there to play slots or table games in the Rainmaker.

I feel it has to have some positive effect as the line of people waiting in the Rewards line will either be staring into space or seeing a poker room in front of them that may or may not peak their interest. With it downstairs none of these people would even see it with the current "barrier to entry" especially for first timers.

I don't know why you feel people at the casino to gamble who are eating, grabbing something from Dunkin Donuts, or waiting at the Rewards desk wouldn't find something new that interesting. I would certainly place this number of people who do decide to "play this poker thing for a few hours" at greater than zero as you claim.

LOL. Its not a "barrier to entry". Seeing the room will not get their gambling juices flowing more than you think. They already know the poker room is right below them as all the poker room signs indicate. But you missed my key point where I said "Significantly". If you're waiting for new blood to be standing in line at Rewards desk or DD and think "interesting. I believe I'll try something new and invest $100", then they're going to be few and far between. Best wishes.

As you've well documented the room traffic is shrinking. Moving it upstairs will not replace what's lost.

A stairway down past a waterfall with a second set of double doors is absolutely a barrier to a first timer who may be interested in seeing what this poker thing is all about. When I referred to "foot traffic" I was insinuating the people who will be organically walking past this space today to eat, grab coffee and most importantly wait at the Rewards desk. I was not claiming that this would be a significant increase to "poker room foot traffic" only that a greater than zero pct will buy-in and play in poker games.

I don't think we really disagree much only miscommunicating a few of our words.

That is a whacky stairway anyway. One thing there is no miscommunication on: The room will be so much better located for those of us current players.

If anything is gonna help increase the flow of new players it'll be the Atrium bar right there which people will be complaining about being too loud

Going to miss the dungeon. What are they putting downstairs? Upstairs definitely seems like a better and more accessible spot.
