The Titanic? WTF, but then they had the freeze dried bodies at Pequot for much of last year.

So, I'm looking at the Foxwoods Poker Classic schedule.... is there no $10K event this year?

(No, I wasn't going to buy-in for that, but I was considering a satellite attempt or two).

How's the 2/5 NL at Foxwoods these days? Last time I played there live was 2006 & 2007, walking out +$2K was the norm. Was worth putting up with the terrible floor and the horrible dealers. I'm sure it's dried up? Is Mohegan any better?

Thinking about taking a ride up to one of the Indians tonight.

Looks like the main event is $3500. I see no reason why you can't try to satelite into that.

Also the 2 shootouts are $200 and $300 instead of the usual $300 and $600, and they both fall on a weekend for once... sick.

Oh I will. I doubt it would draw any top pros though. There were a couple last year.

That's good though. I don't know about you, but I'd rather play against Joe the Plumber than Phil Ivey.

Still the norm as of last two nights... 5-10 is pretty easy also, fun games though

2/5 'norm' is still very good at Foxwoods and even better at Mohegan. The games this past w/e were awesome.

id have to agree 2/5 games are very easy.

im sure this has been asked. but what kind of plo games do they have going? i always have seen a 25/50 plo8 game going, but thats alittle high for me. id actally rather play plo than plo8. but if i have to play either one i will. i def want to start getting into it more. also im going to assume that if its a 2/5 or5/10 the max buy ins will be 100bbs right?

Not much of a deck to muck there...
You could have sidebets on whether the dealer's "hand" can beat yours on the river.

I'm doing some research for a future Los Angeles card room horror story (or series of stories and essays). I promise they will be more frightening and appalling than this old story since in the intervening time things have gotten goofier here in LA.

I need to know the nitty details on the rake and jackpot drop for the $2 BB and $5 BB NL games. Information on the 4/8 limit game would help too. I already used the search function and the information I've found isn't quite detailed enough. For 1/2 NL I've read that it is 10% with a $4 cap and they take an extra dollar for jackpot when the pot reaches $20. What I need is the specific thresholds or triggers when each dollar is taken and if they at least require called action (i.e., does an uncalled bet or raise count toward the rake).

This may seem obvious based on what I know so far but many years ago, before the NL boom, I played 20/40 and 10/20 limit at Foxwoods a few times during family visits and the incremental drop triggers where at non linear points. In other words in these limit games something like $2 was dropped on the first $40 of called action (nothing on less), another $1 on the second $40 of called action, and a final dollar on pots of lets say $150 or more. So it really wasn't a 5% rake with a cap; it was a $4 max rake with specific triggers that weren't always at 5%.

So....

For both 1/2 blind NL and 3/5 (or any $5 BB NL game) when is:

- The first part of the rake taken and how much is it?

- When is each subsequent piece of the rake taken?

- When is the jackpot drop taken?

The same information for 4/8 limit holdem would also be helpful.

~ Rick

PS Bonus question: Is it fair to say Foxwoods is the largest poker room East of the Mississippi?

$4/8 Hold 'em: $2 at flop, $1 at $30, $1 at 60.
$1-2 NL: raked game; $1 per $10 in pot, up to $4
$2-5 NL: raked game; $1 per $10 in pot, up to $4

BBJ is collected when $20 is in the pot at 4/8 LHE, same thing at 1/2NL. The 2/5 game is not included in the BBJ.

As far as when its taken, I think it really depends on the dealer. I've had situations where I bet $8 into an $18 pot and the dealer doesn't take the $1 for the BBJ if no one calls. On the other side. There are dealers that where if the pot is $16, and you bet $4 and no one calls they still rake for it. I don't think many people pay attention to things like that, so I just keep my mouth shut.

They shouldn't take it since it isn't called action; am I correct (amirite in youthspeak )?

Assuming they shouldn't (since it isn't called action) and it doesn't impact the award of the pot or the action what's the downside of speaking up?
