from those 3 hrs of play, i got TWO FREE DAYS/WEEK INCLUDING FRI/SAT FROM NOW UNTIL SEPT1 lol. i obviously booked them all (1/2 of them at the ****ing WATER CLUB!!!!... that's like a $400/night value on fri/sat). so i ahve every fri/sat night at borgata free from now til end of august. that's {min, max} {12*2*119,12*2*400} = {$2,856,$9,600} value from playing 3 hrs at 40/80...

i'll cancel the rooms i don't use of course but still...this is just crazy how much better borg is than fw for this. i'll probably use 4 or 5 of those weekends. i can also use weekdays but i am unsure if 40 goes during the weekdays and it was great when i played it.
I agree.

I know that the reason that they are doing this is supposedly cutting costs but alienating your client base is not the best way to go about it. Just looking at gaming is silly, imo. I drop so much money at this damn casino in ways that have nothing to do with gambling. I shop here, spend hundreds per week on food(not comped), pay $15 per day to swim in their spa, get manis and pedis and facials at their spa, etc.
There was a casino in Vegas that treated their locals very well. There was a "freeroll" every week for locals that played x number of hours. We never played the tourney, we would always just chop the prizepool equally. Well the poker room manager was replaced, hag was promoted, freeroll done away with, locals, pissed off, went elsewhere. No locals supporting the room, keeping games going, room died. Last time I was in Vegas, dropped by for old times sake, had 2 games going, 1 NL, 1 limit. Not that this is going to happen to Foxwoods but I know that I am seriously considering my options

The problem with this is that unless you're paying with your points, they have no way to know that you're spending all this money on property and tie it to your account. It sucks but there's no practical way to do it.

Regarding this and the Borgata rooms, the AC/Vegas mentality doesn't work here. They have lots of competition right next door, they need to do these things. All FW/MS have are each other, they don't need to give all these things away to entice their customers - there's no place else for them to go. This might change if MA opens up casinos, but we're years away from that.

ETA - I agree 100% that they're alienating their client base with these changes, and that it's a bad strategy. But I don't have any other ideas to propose

There are no other options in the area for poker, unless you wish to play in the exponentially more defunct MS poker room, want to ride hours to the crap-pit that is AC, or risk your money getting robbed at some random's high-rake home game.

FW treats us well, even though they are scaling back.

NO, they treat YOU well. They treat Lattimer well. If my phone call to the host was any indication, the average poker player, they could not care less about

I am going to set up a meeting with Mohegans poker room manager. See what he can do for us if I can get a group of 2/5ers to give it a go for a month.

I will be able to provide the simple answer: they will do jack squat for you, as they do not really give a damn about poker players.

I have a Sagamore card over there, and they give me about as much as a green card holder at FW gets, perhaps even less when all is said and done.

I do like the Mohegan room better. But they just don't get the volume there.

I don't know what the prize pool or payouts are, but as has been discussed before, it can be beneficial to chop to stay below the $5k threshold.

IF weekly points stop at foxwoods I predict that room gets alot busier

Why? So people can go to a lower-volume poker room and still receive no weekly points OR hotel rooms?

It makes absolutely no sense.

$120 tourney had 40-50 runners first is like $1400

Looks like Borgata will be my regular Summer room if they continue the generosity.

Did you get the mailer for free rooms AFTER you played the 3 hours or did they give you the offer code immediately? It's been a while since I made the trip down...I'll have to talk to Stan the man.

Borgata is the only casino in the tri-state area I rate higher than Foxwoods for poker...but the comps have been better at Foxwoods over the last couple of years.

I would definitely suggest doing this. More people need to be voicing their opinions and give them suggestions. Honestly, that place should really be bending over backwards trying to get players in the room. 45 tables and 9 of them are in use. gtfooooooooo

Ya I have kind of kept quiet about the whole Mohegan vs. Foxwoods debate but I haven't been to Mohegan in years and am not in a big hurry to go back. They never EVER gave me anything there and that was based on a lot of play back in the day.

I remember rude staff and the number one rudest pit dealer(blackjack) I ever came across. It was probably like 8 years ago and a group of us went to Mohegan and a few of the people with us never really gambled much before or been to a casino.

Long story short, a miserable blackjack dealer(guy was in his 40's iirc) pretty much berated my noob friend for making a mistake at the blackjack table. I can't even remember what he did but it wasn't like touching the cards or anything. Guy was just a prick.

Cliff Notes: Mohegan sux.

Very true. Why they haven't adjusted this, I have no clue. I mean hell, even Stop & Shop has "figured this out" to an extent. You scan your card, it keeps track of your purchases. At "X" points, you can go to the pump and use points off gas. It's obviously going to be a bit more elaborate than that. The Total Rewards card that Harrah's, etc use is designed pretty well, imo.

My friends and me played BJ quite a bit in the last year. One guy used to count. We have not played in like 6-months. Well my friend Matt is mostly a poker player like me. We played all the same sessions and same bet etc. Well he took advantage of a lot of their concert offers, free rooms, and prize giveaways since we stopped playing BJ. I couldn't because I work 55 hours a week.

Well, since he went and didn't play pit games and only poker they cut him off of free rooms. I have not taken any of their offers and still get free room and free show offers. So I think if you cash in offers and don't gamble then they cut you off.

This is funny to me. Our last BJ session at FW we are betting a $15 unit and our first dealer is this 50ish year old white guy with white hair. Well our first hand my 2 friends hit Blackjack and I get 11 vs his 6 and DD. I slap the table and say "it's gunna be a good night." Dealer bitches at me for being too obnoxious. My other friend says "when we bet big we get excited." Dealer replies "You call $15 betting big." We then leave to find a non-douchebag dealer.

This is exactly right. Your friend utilized offers and decreased his play, so his profitability rating went down.

I find that more often I hear dealers at Foxwoods saying inappropriate things versus Mohegan.

I've had issues with the attitude of many table game dealers.

A few times some poker dealers made me go

But I've been known to say absurd stuff so I let it go... but a few dealers have definitely shocked me.

This just goes to show how important competition is to the casino industry. With Foxwoods only competing with Mohegan, they understand that they can reduce their offers to people and not give away free swag. Borgata on the other hand is a fantastic hotel and casino (went many times in college) but because of natural AC competition they hook up comps and mid-high limit players constantly.

A friend of mine plays the highest NL and ML games at Borgata, he rents a condo nearby in Egg Township...however he has told me many times that he has free rooms no matter what whenever he wants...that's service folks.

The attitude and quality of the dealers is the main reason i prefer MS over FW, but besides that the casino staff in general just seems friendlier and more accommodating.

Was looking on the foxwoods site for the structure for the $120 6pm 15K in chips deepstacks that run every saturday and couldnt find it. Was it right in front of my eyes? Anyone have the link to it?

I could never find it either. It sucks. They call it a deepstack but after 2, 20 minutes levels, you are no longer deep. It's a joke
