I had a winning hand when I flopped a flush heads up and won about sixty dollars.
A few hands later i get qq. Whole table is in front with a straddler. I bet 40 dollars and get 2 callers. I have about 220 in chips 180 after the bet. One caller is girl who just got 2 paired with aa pocks and the other caller is guy that 2 paired her. He had just taken at 150 dollar loss earlier when flop came 1022. Guy who folded mentioned while hand in progress that he had a 2. So he went all in when ace hit river with king kicker however guy who called him had ace 2.
Back to the qq hand flop comes six seven 8 rainbow guy checks I bet 40 girl folds he calls.
Turn comes 8 i put him on 10 j ace to king and all in he insta calls . I ask him what he has says straight and turns over nine 10. River was a blank and I was gone as didn't want to rebuy after that.
I should have folded after he called the 8 turn. I guess its bothering me that he would call with nine 10 off for 40 any thoughts?
Post this in the small stakes NL forum - and break it up into paragraphs (I do one paragraph per street...).
My thoughts are that you made his $40 call profitable by being willing to go all-in once you saw a horrible flop and then worse turn. Your advantage pre-flop is that he will win only 20% of the time against QQ with T9o so if you can minimize the loss you take on that 20%, you come out way ahead. In hindsight you have to check behind the turn and call a reasonable sized river bet on a blank. I make this same mistake all the time because I apply LHE principles to NL...
Another thought: Your $40 pre-flop bet is part of the problem in that it creates a huge pot that will make it harder to let go of your QQ when beat. Normally you will win a very small pot with a bet like that or face AK, AA, KK... Even at FW its unusual to see T9o call for $40 - so, being results oriented it turned out to be a good bet but terrible flop...
