Lolololol foxwoods management.

29 on 2/5 and they open a short 5/10

I waited an hour for a seat and I was on 3 lists.
Every dealer has said that it’s because they are running too many tournaments per day. They are also down to 220 dealers when they usually have over 400.
It’s no excuse but that’s their reasoning.

If the cost of parking at Encore is really what I heard ($49 valet, $29 self-park), I don't think other area casinos are in much trouble.

$29 parking, paying for drinks, paying for food with no lounge access, lacking ease of access to casino, and no rooms...…..

Yeah, everyone should be fleeing Foxwoods and Mohegan on June 23rd lol.

There is no doubt that this was poorly executed by Foxwoods during this Poker Series. They shouldn't be running 3 events upstairs on a Saturday knowing full well that they are not physically prepared to handle the traffic downstairs due to a lack of dealers. The good news is that this is an easy fix......a) It won't be an issue during non-series weeks and b) even during a series they simply need to plan better and move one of those smaller events from Saturday afternoon.

Easy fix? Dealers are leaving AND being let go. They need a hiring wave and finding good workers is not easy.

1... You are incorrect sir cocktails at Encore will be complimentary and they will be served longer than Connecticut (20hrs per day from 8am till 4am)

2... Lack of lounge access doesn't affect 85% of poker players anyway seeing as you need to play close to 600hrs of poker to keep a platinum card for a year (which grants you Hampton access) and outside of the backpack toting nit reg wannabe "pros" not many recreational players reach this level anyway.

3... The parking fees if implemented do indeed suck... not sure what the thinking is there, maybe they are trying to squeeze people into taking public transportation or the water shuttle or maybe they will give free parking to player card levels above the bottom level (like M-Life does)
or validate parking if you are gambling. Even still the $29 is about the same most people would pay in gas and wear on their vehicle making the 2hr drive to Foxwoods so in reality the $29 fee would potentially be a wash.

4... Google is your friend you should read some of the articles that quotes experts in the field telling of epic changes coming to Connecticut after June 23. The contraction is already evident at Foxwoods as they prepare for Encore as well as upcoming future changes as in: A: when the poker room moves upstairs (to the currently walled of section of the original Rainmaker casino) they are going from 95 cash tables to 65. B: the closing of the festival slot room coming in June +/- (this room has more slot machines than any other room at Foxwoods). C: The closing of the Hampton lounge and moving it to where Burke in a Box used to be and seriously downsizing the food options. FYI: This information comes from a very very very reliable source and not from table banter in the poker room.

5... I agree with you on the rooms it will be one edge Foxwoods will have over Encore for sure. I'm guessing comped rooms at Encore will be like hens teeth and the paying rates will be insane.

Bottom line though is the poker end of it will not be very high on their list of worries, they are really going to get their teeth kicked in on the pit games and slots which is where they make almost all of their cheddar. It should be interesting to see if MA or CT wins the race to see who gets sports betting up and running first. (also heard that although obvious it's confirmed that when the sports book finally opens at Foxwoods it will be in the racebook which will be right in the middle of the cash and tournament areas for poker.)

I had no idea about 4B and 4C. It's unusal for a FW player lounge to be off the casino floor but they'll share the same backroom as Newport now. They'll probably put regular slots in the current Hampton area and take down the half wall (not the wall separating it from high limit slots), especially since Festival is closing.

You are correct... not that it's a big area but they are going to be putting slots in the current Hampton lounge. Logistically and payroll wise it will be easier to operate both lounges out of one kitchen area.

As far as the Festival room goes the roof is in need of massive repairs and the original plan was to fix it before it caved in but in true Foxwoods fashion they made a 180 and decided not to spend the money on repairs and just close the room.

Downsizing Hampton’s food options? There are no options now. Rock hard, dried out chicken and pork, lunch meat and lettuce. How can they offer less than that? Breakfast is the only meal that’s decent

They might go to only serving hors d'oeuvres. That's what they did in the Cedar lounge.

I stand corrected......it will be an EXTREMELY easy fix. Simply run two tournaments on a Sat afternoon of a series rather than 3. Had this been the case there would have been the standard minimal wait times yesterday.

* I was referring to both CT rooms regarding lounge access where any semi-reg player at Mohegan would have access using their monthly choice credits. Agreed it wouldn't affect the Foxwood players nearly as much as Mohegans.

* Wynn in LV will validate parking with $50 of food/shopping spend that does NOT include gambling so that would need to change to help us. The difference in the wear and tear is that to Boston that covers one day while at Foxwoods it could cover 3 days with the standard 2x per week rooms.

* As far as #4 goes they should have been downsizing the past couple of years as so much space is already wasted. They haven't needed 95 cash tables in like 5 years and even the Monday Madness days don't fill them up now. No doubt that the pits and table games will suffer a much greater decline than poker who will still get your players coming in for 2 nights per week whereas they won't be battling Boston traffic and parking fees for one session......after the initial curiosity fades away.

Oh c'mon lighten up I'm only playing around. Having said that, I maintain my position that one simple tweak would eliminate the issues everyone apparently had yesterday. Would you not agree with this?

I know of two dealers leaving for Boston who are already not happy with the commute/traffic/shuttle and regretting their decision although they are going to give it a chance.

I made a pilgrimage to FW yesterday. How has it become acceptable to take $3 out of a pot at $10 ($2 on flop and 1 for promo)? And then I'm supposed to tip these dealers I know pretty well?

No thanks.

It's still better than FL and CA where 5+2 is norm with some taking on flop or even on no flop. Magic City in FL you raise and win $7 blinds at 2/5 they rake $3 and you win $4. Obv that is the extreme but CT is finally catching up we've had it too good for so long. Mohegan Sun recently increased theirs from 4+1 to 5+1 once their new room opened.

Ummmm, I don't have to go to Cali or Florida to play. So idk why you use them as examples. That IS NOT the competition.

Why take out frustration with rake on the dealers? It's like stiffing your server because the prices are too high at the restaurant. Not their fault management is greedy. If I don't like something a room does I don't play there.

More than half of the usb charging ports do not work. How many months has it been since they were installed? 4? 5?
Then you alert a floor to this issue and their response is “okay”. Are there plans to fix or replace them? Or does the fact that Foxwoods can claim that they have USB ports at every seat(whether they function or not)suit their purpose?

To be fair, I didn't stiff dealers. Just stating that fact.

After my experience yesterday, I won't be playing there and am astounded people just accept the rake policy.

Ok, the way it read for me was "tip the dealers, no thanks." Sorry about that.

As far as their rake, I agree it is a terrible policy but honestly, if I play at Foxwoods I do very little if any limping and since the standard raise has become $12-$15, the pot is almost always $50+. If the game is really tight I'll generally transfer.
