I played once this year and min-cashed, and that was after 1:00 AM. There were still 5 tables at min cash

I know, off the top of my head, 10 players from Boston who are “regs” who will not be traveling to Foxwoods once Encore opens. I also know several Rhode Islanders who plan on making Encore their main casino. I also know several Connecticut players who plan on making the hike at least some of the time.
I don’t pretend to know all so I know there are likely way more that I don’t know.

Geez, you make it sound like I'm claiming nobody will leave. Do you realize how small a percentage you are talking about compared to all those who have already left? I'm at MGM right now and the room is 40% Foxwoods and 40% Mohegan players......they-already-left. Here are the games right now....

FW - 14
MS - 14
MGM - 17
Chasers - 12

So maybe Foxwoods will go from 14 to 11-12 next year at this time as opposed to 25-30 to todays 14 from a year and a half ago? That's exactly my point unless you're claiming they will have like 4 games which I don't expect to occur.

As the great Mark Twain once said: “Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”

BTW: Did you parade around the MGM taking a scientific poll to come up with your 40% numbers or are those just the numbers that support your uninformed argument? Also the numbers of games you are pontificating to be running at each place is inaccurate but never let the facts get in the way of your story .. jus sayin'

100% accurate per Bravo and Poker Atlas (for Chasers) at the time I posted. Yes, there were 2 unknowns at each 2/5 game with the other 16 players regs or semi-regs from Foxwoods and Mohegan. I know this because well....I know who the players are. What else you got?

You don't need to be obtuse I'm only contributing the information for people to understand what has already occurred within the New England market.

What else do I got? I feel bad for you and wanted to lay off but since you insist...

Your table count comparisons are useless because today is a promo day at MGM while Foxwoods has no promos. If I made the same comparison you did today on Monday when there was a promo at Foxwoods you would have seen 70+/- tables running at Foxwoods to maybe 5 or 6 at MGM.

Also the reason why you saw familiar faces there today from either CT room was because they were chasing promos not because they have already bounced on either Foxwoods or Mohegan... Hows that?

I don't get why you just can't understand that when Encore opens there will be many players going there and not to Foxwoods... you seem stuck on the story that anyone who is leaving Foxwoods has already left and frankly you couldn't be more wrong. But like Jpsychlady says in post #22697 (you should reread it) you are a self professed expert and I am the exception even though I know at least 15 people that will be leaving and she seems to be aware of 10 or so that have the same plan and I am sure there are many that neither her nor I know who are doing the same thing.

Don't get me wrong I love going to Foxwoods, its like Disney World for adults but they are in for a bumpy stretch starting next summer and the poker room may be the least of it. The hurt put on the rest of the casino by the Encore opening will be much more damaging than the lost poker room business.

Lay off of me giving an accurate account? Ok lol. In every post I've used the disclaimer of Foxwoods promo days or a tournament series which draws players. Every familiar face in the two 2/5 games at MGM but one have moved to MGM full time. I'd list every name if it were allowed.....these weren't promo chasers.

Non-promo days at Foxwoods drew 30 tables a year and a half ago, right now on a Wednesday night there is 12. You continue to ignore the already massive drop off while focusing on "10-15 people I absolutely know are leaving." Yes, a few more will leave however the bumpy stretch is already here sir.

i have been going to FW for over 20 years to play poker.

yesterday was the first time ANY DAY of the week...ever (sans snowstorm) that the room was THAT dead...for 4pm and on

it was VERY sad. I am going with the oversaturation of games. I mean if i didnt go ith the intent of playing the 6pm tourney...I would have gone to TR no doubt...(i dont care about ammenities, good floors, etc...all poker rooms are filled with scumbags anyhow...so I am not drawn to "nice" rooms)

with that said....in no way will the ENcore change what i saw last night....12-20 tables during the week will be the norm from here on out just too many choices that are closer

its also possible there just arent as many people playing poker anymore....those days are past us. look at Vegas.....the number of rooms from 10 years ago has dropped a TON

just my .02

Obviously not a scientific poll, but having played PLO at Chasers several times over the last several months, the PLO crowd there is at least 30% former FW players. (The PLO community is a good deal smaller than the NLE community, and we absolutely do recognize each other). This by itself is the equivalent of 1-2 tables moving from FW to Chasers every day (which is roughly what has actually happened on PLO).
I doubt that NLHE has been much different.
OTOH, I still play mostly at FW (free rooms mitigate the commute), and we do discuss other rooms at the table. There are still a lot of players there who have not migrated to TR, MGM, or NH yet, for one reason or another (TR is a badly-run dump, game selection, lack of overnight games in NH, free rooms at FW, geography, inertia, whatever), but who say that they will migrate to Everett when it opens.
Obviously, none of this is scientific, just everyone's opinions and anecdotes, with some Bravo numbers. Obviously, TR, MGM, and NH have already had a significant impact, but I still think that Everett will have a serious additional impact on FW. We'll see.

FWIW

TR when it opened had hours upon hours of wait time. fast forward two years after they opened 6 more tables....and on a friday night....there are unfilled tables and the waits are minimal.

again...more options = less players at a single venue. there is a youtube vlogger that had TR as his home for 1/2...but now that MGM Springfield open thats his home.....

Would at least like to see Foxwoods make some effort to compete with other rooms (USB chargers, new light fixtures, better chairs). Right now just feels they're content to let the room die...which at this rate it will.

Adjustable seats would be a huge upgrade from what they have now.

Light fixtures?

I swear, no matter the room, no matter the lights someone somewhere will complain about the lights.

Maybe I am still young and can see, but I have never been in a room and said, geeze these lights suck.

Oh god. Thanks for reminding me
Back in my day you little whipper-smackers, the lighting was sufficient so we didnt need to drag out our spectacles to distinguish between spades and clubs.
