It's been this way every damn month since I started getting the offers in the mail. Are they real or a mirage?
There are a few possibilities as to what is happening to you.

Foxwoods seems to run their hotel room pricing similar to the way airlines price their seats. They have a few rooms reserved for free, then some more at preferred rates, and then as they fill up the rates get higher and higher.

For example: I have booked some free rooms. I have called to get a free room and been given a $29 rate. I have also gotten a $49 rate. And it goes up from there.

Also, there's a quirk in their on-line system which displays a discounted room cost when you book a "free" room.

Similarly, when you book a free room on the phone and then look on-line you will see the same room cost that you would have seen had you booked it on-line yourself. Also, when I have booked a free room on the phone the reservations person has always warned me that if I check on-line it will look like the room isn't free even though it is.

Nevertheless as a result of this quirk, I always try to book a free room on the phone.

Incidentally, I have heard that if you are too late to get a free room and check with a manager when you arrive they may give you the free room anyway...

my guess is the free room offer is figured out by some marketing formula.
no use in asking, you either get it or not. i was coming infrequently for the last 2 years, originally got my card with an out of state address. i played no table games, logged few hours, but i started getting free room offers about a year ago. i would be surprised to hear regulars asking me how i scored the deals. i only started using the free rooms this past summer. in august and september i logged more hours than ever at foxwoods. i also did a bit of blackjack, and even some roulette and craps. i wanted to stay on the radar.

as of october my room offers stopped, and im back to getting just 15 points
instead of 30 if i check in to the dream rewards desk once a week.

oh well. i think the offers are to entice people, even low stakes poker players. once i established that i'm hooked, they stopped.

thats just my guess. but maybe its not the brightest formula, as it
does not register that i'm only really playing poker, and there's a perefectly
fine competing room just 9 miles up the road that has started offering
competitive points/etc.

I no that there are players that are cheap nits but this guy was over the top complaining about every little thing I've never heard this type of attitude at all and then complaining to the shift manager about a fill...it was just sad

Would like to hear some other stories on how much of a whiner this guy is
Well known for talking non-stop and loudly, whether complaining or not. May be best known for going 17 bets on the river with 3rd or 4th nuts and losing.

Is this the guy that leaves his cell phone in the cup holder and takes notes about players at the table on it?

God, I HATE 1/2 NL!!! Went down yesterday, ended up losing a lot to a guy who overplayed 94 of hearts until nailing a flush on the river. If this is the way people play, then please God, let them keep playing this way, and please God, stop putting me on the receiving end of nonstop screwjobs!

Sorry, just had to let that out. I gotta learn to stick with tourneys, cash games suck.

Cowboy? He may tilt you but is nowhere near the top of the irritating totem poll. Not above me anyway.

Well most live "pros" are annoying douchebags, I haven't played with him though because he only seems to play limit hold'em. Just remember to bring your ipod to tune it out and you'll be all set.

Im playing 4/8 with my friend and cowboy is to my right, somehow the conversation turns into how lagtardtacular 2/4 is and then he starts off how it dosent matter what game you play there are fish all over the place, then he takes this oppertunity to tell me a bad beat story while he was playing 1/2! look at my friend like is this guy serious? did he just tell a bad beat story too two complete strangers? I immedietly put in my ear buds and grab a couple racks and start chipping up, table change!

was it a big guy? headphones and maybe a hat?

i got my pocket Ks cracked by a flush he hit on the river with 94h - he had a huge chip stack and didnt believe my push...then he said something about them being his favorite numbers and plus "they are suited" when called

and to the tip trick up there...its gonna be hit or miss...i mean ive gotten upgrades with no tip (until after) if there are rooms available and your point worthy you have a good shot...

MGM is very difficult so best bet is to stick with the others

I'm not sure he's not referring to another longtime reg with a fondness for skull chip protectors, first name begins with M.

I remember a hat, but no headphones. Probably not the guy you're thinking. Still, gotta love people overplaying all these suited hands, eh?

Now that I've calmed down, I will admit that, combined with that flush hand, I actually made two key mistakes leading to my loss:

First was when I had 72 of clubs from BB on a board of 8542, two clubs. That's 17 outs at the most, and a guy went all in for only like $30, and I called figuring 2.5-to-1 was just about the right price. I'm not so sure anymore, especially considering he had trip 8s and I missed.

Second was when I overplayed pocket tens. This was soon after the flush hand crippled me to like $100. Flop was 976 all spades (so overpair, gutshot, and flush draw). After a blank turn, Villain checks, I check, Button bets, and Villain Hollywoods for a good five minutes, moaning and groaning and whining. Eventually, he calls. I look at my stack and figure I'm all or nothing now, I had $70-80 on a pot well over $100 and the original bet was like $25. Stupidly, I decided to shove, both called, and Mr. Hollywood shows AQ of spades and smiles like a douche.

I guess I can be blamed for buying the act, but still, Hollywooders should be shot. They're almost as annoying and lame as slowrollers. I mean, it's only freakin' 1/2, what's the point of doing that just so you can win a hundred bucks or something? You're no pro so stop pretending, you delusional phony!

God, 1/2 gets me tilted just thinking about it. I need anger management

[I know, double-post, sorry]

By the way, while I was down there Sunday, I noticed the Bad Beat Jackpot was up to like $25,700. Getting pretty big pretty fast, it's probably already closer to $35K today.

But while down there, I heard that in order to qualify, players must use BOTH their hole cards. So if you get quad 8s, you better hope you have pocket 8s. Is this really true? If so, that's just ridiculous, if you ask me. Say the board is 8TJQ of spades, you got the ace of spades while the other guy has the 9 of spades, and you one-out him the royal, oops! Not good enough since you both used only one card, sowwy!

Come on, Foxwoods...

is the 5-10 LHE game dead or just run without a kill now? Do they run an 8-16 now or is it just 4-8 and 10-20? I'll be there Friday a.m. to late Friay night, haven't been since July.

disagree on this one.
it's pretty standard to have to use both hole cards.
otherwise, with the number of tables they have, they'd be paying off quite often, the jackpot would never grow.

think about it.

That part is standard, both hole cards.

Semi-standard is "natural quads" with a pocket pair. I hit a jackpot in Detroit 2005 with A9 vs JJ on a board of A A 4 A 6. We each play both of our holecards, but now that wouldn't qualify in neither Detroit nor Foxwoods
