Little early to be thinking about that. The World Poker Finals should be good though

Tonight I dealt to a young man who says he likes to browse this thread, but does not post.
I had a 10 PM to 6 AM shift for the first time since being here, and I was tired as can be at the end of the night. So happens that his table was my last one.
So for you stranger at table 78, that lurks these threads, I am sorry I you had to deal with a less than competent dealer. haha

Hey Joao, what would you say is the best and worst part of dealing cards, also do you work the pit games too or just the poker room? I've always been curious how that works.

I was the kid at 2/5 who kept getting into arguments with some ******ed frenchie last night. Sorry if you were at my table, dude was a total douche.

I was in the poker room last night, I have never seen the place so empty on a friday night before. I was over playing 4/8 and 5/10 LHE.

Best part would have to be being around poker and learning everyday, I never get tired of it. I used to be a grinder playing poker, but to be honest I was a break even player with really bad bankroll management skills. I figured the best thing for me was to deal, that way I could fight the urge to play over my head and hopefully learn enough to get there.
There are many good parts about dealing, but that is probably the best factor. I consider dealing as a fun hobby I get paid to do, not really a job.

The worst part is probably dealing with people who blame you for things that are out of your control, which believe it or not happens often. From a technical side, I don't like dragging in bets from the right side of the table, as I am lefty, haha ( if you ever play at my table and are sitting from the 7 seat on, please stack your cheques on a bet, that makes it a lot easier ).

I do not deal in the pit, but really would love to learn all casino games. They do offer free training for other games, but only a handful of times per year... so I am waiting for the next set of classes.
But in terms of poker I have dealt 15 different disciplines, and all kinds of stakes. I bet you never heard of Baducy ( no, not badugi ), well I dealt that at the WSOP this past year.

i noticed this as well this past week. have been going more than usual, so i don't know what's really normal, but i've been surprised the last few months how busy the woods was on weeknights.

I played 2/5 tues night, games fizzled to one table by 5am, died soon after. that's fine. weds seemed a little better, did not stay all night. thurs night went to Mohegan, just to get away from all the same grumpy reg faces i'd been seeing, and i found 4 tables of 2/5 with one must move, at 6pm. nice. 2 tables left by 4am, 1 by 5/6 am. that game never broke, it was pretty crazy. i saw people leave it, go rest for a few, and return around mid morning, as i left. someone told me that same night (thurs) there was only one 2/5 goin at the woods, which surprised me.

i met at least one guy who had a comped room at the woods but was playing at mohegan. (same with me) i also learned mohegan has decent room rates and promotiomnal rooms, which i did not know. always thought it was a pain to get a cheap room there. The Mohegan regs seem very loyal and happy with the room.

More 2/5 games at Mohegan will mean more interest in 5/10NL, etc. maybe more game variety. if players can get cheap/free rooms and similar game selection at Mohegan, with a room, a real drink in a friggin glass instead of a picnic cup, and comparable to softer games ...

just seemed to me the signs were suddenly not so rosy for Foxwoods poker.
a little competition is good for us all, as long as they get the message

It's decided, I'll be at Foxwoods tomorrow morning for one or two $65 Acts. I just hope the place isn't dead and it takes like 3 hours for a table of ten to fill up, would like to catch at least the 2nd half of the Pats.

in terms of of it being slow...
I was adviced that September is a slow month for the poker room before I was even hired ( which was in August ). I am not sure the reasons, but I know it will be booming in October for the World Poker Finals.

Okay, I did not need to see that Bing Blang Blaow picture, Joao

Yeah, I can understand why September is a slow month. A lot of the regulars are probably burned out from the summer rush (like the WSOP). Also, most of the college kids have gone back to school and are just settling in now. I think it's also a busy time for many businesses (for example, my father's in real estate, they're always desperate to sell houses now before the oh-so-slow winter months), so a lot of regulars with jobs can't come in either.

If you want more dealing work, maybe you could apply at Mohegan and work out some kind of double shift between the two. I don't know, it's one idea.

I'm a little surprised to read Foxwoods has been so slow lately. I have a room for Monday night and was planning on going to play 2-5 that night and all day tuesday. You guys think I would be better off playing at Mohegan instead? I have been playing at both places lately but did not notice that Woods has been so slow as commented on this forum.

Heard from dealers / management Friday night that Foxwoods is moving to a player-funded Bad Beat Jackpot, with an additional $1 drop on pots over $20, and it would be quad 8's or better cracked to qualify. I heard the rundown on what games it would run on -- don't quote me but I think it was 1/2 NL and 2/4-10/20 FL. They seemed pretty high on the idea that it would bring more people into the room. I don't know if they're right or not, but I'm not psyched about it.

Anyone else at the 5/10 table when the guy slowrolled that girl on the river with a fullhouse. Was a 300 bet and raised to 600, guy tanked quite a long time and finally calls. Straight versus fullhouse into a fairly big pot. Was a lot of people in and out of the game today.

I was there, but playing a tourney on the other side of the room. What happened, was she pissed?

When do you think the room (cash games) will pick up for the next wpt event? Specifically when the 5/10 games start really getting good.

Thanks.
sorry just seeing this question - depending on your standing with the woods I went to the host desk asked for openings and everything was pretty booked up - she then offered me a room at Bellisimo for 50 points and i took it -

she called over made the reservation and gave me a conf number - i went over to BG and was greeted and treated like a king for some reason - think they were trying to impress foxwoods as it was their first month running a promo together

Can anyone tell me the latest on these tables (if they even exist anymore) at the Fox?

5/10 NLHE
10/25 NLHE
5/10 PLO
2/5 PLO

Are these games dead at Fox on the weekend? Are they alive at Mohegan? Planning an October or November trip. Not sure if signups are too big during WPT?

i would have to guess the woods has to have at least as many tables as
Mohegan going. if your room's there, try it first. Mohegan has their own regs who are pretty much daily regs, and my guess is that might be most of who you see on a Monday. it would be a very bad sign if Mohegan is regularly getting more 2/5 tables monday/tuesday

I played Thursday, Friday and Saturday (until 3:00 A.M. Sunday morning). I'd say there was a higher percentage of regulars than normal, but I only go up to FW every 2-3 months. I play mostly 2-5NL.

Only strange thing was that Friday there was a must-move to a must-move table going. Even the floor guy was confused why it happened.

Saturday was a wild day for me. I got stuck around 2k, and made back around 1.8k, and had the longest streak of bad cards I've ever had. Never really did get a hand (best hand I had for 12 hours was a set). Pulled in a $700 pot with a K high though.

5/10NL runs pretty much regularly. At least 3 tables on the weekends, whittling down to one late night. 10/25NL (which is usually now 10/20NL) hasn't been running, but when you come around tournament time, there is sure to be a game, at least on weekends. There will likely be higher games as well during the tournament.

I don't think PLO has been running at those stakes at all. They struggle to get a 1/2PLO going every once in a while. But again, around tournament time, these games will surely pick up as well.

Mohegan struggles to get a 5/10NL game going, but your best shot is Saturday around dinner time. Not sure about PLO there, but I doubt they've had much of anything going. Hope that helps.

How is the 1/2 NL Holdem game at Foxwoods. I used to go there all the time a few years back but since moving to GA I have yet to have another chance at going. I finally get to come home this week and figured I would make a couple of trips there to see how it was. Any thoughts?

<cross-posting in MS thread as well> Going to either FW or MS this weekend, what kind of games can i expect? I'd be playing anything from 2-5NL+ or 15/30LHE+... do many games like these get off these days? Are there any PLO or mixed games on the weekend?

Check two posts up. 2/5NL runs regularly on multiple tables at both places. I don't know much about limit.
