About the same mix of regulars/fish

^ I can't stand weak-tight players. It's like extracting plutonium from a lemonade stand. A few regulars have moved down to 1/2 because it's way softer. Personally, I thought in the summer/fall 08 the 2/5s were getting HARD/too many regs.

Are the side games kickin' in March, guys for the WPT/Classics? I've had one win/loss session; pretty average SOP on my part.

The 2/5 regs are not that great, but they are not spewey. So a good 1-2 table can be more profitable in my opinion than a reg dominated 2-5, but there is often at least one decent 2-5 table if you can spot it and get moved to it.

I could not get moved to the table I wanted this Sat but a 1-2 PLO table went off for a while so I moved to it. It was hard to keep the game going as there just plain dont seem to be that many folks that even know how to play PLO. If it were not for two live ones and the occasional bored stud player the game would have ended pretty quickly. Unfortunately the stud players all wanted to play PLO8 and there was a lot less action when we were playing split. I hope we can find away to get more 1-2 or 2-5 players to try PLO, as its a lot more fun and profitable, but based on this Sat I dont see that happening anytime soon.

That's all I got - I'll be back up there next weekend for another easy payday, but would love some feedback from the FW NL regs on here - did I miss something or has the stuff I've been reading just been way off?

You can fly into TF Green [Providence airport... technically in Warwick, but that's irrelevant]. The alternative is.. Hartford I think? But that's a little further away. From Green, you can grab a bus https://secure.grayline.com/conway/airport.cfm $24 with some sort of $30 voucher for Foxwoods [I think it's a matching bet... not sure]. It's too far to cab directly to the 'woods [you could, but it'll be @ $100]. At that point, a car service might be worth it, but I'm not sure of the pricing there.

Boston is further away (~2 hrs?) but there's more flights available into Logan and regular bus service from Boston to Foxwoods. Depending on how much you feel your time is worth...rather than cooling your heels at either airport for a few hours waiting for the next bus, it would probably be easiest to fly into Providence and rent a car.

Anyone know a good cab option out of FW? First 3 suits I talked to seemed to have never heard of a cab before (wtf?) When I talked to people at the bus area I finally got some info, but they claim best I can do is call some place in Norwich and wait at least 30 minutes for them to drive over.

Are there any better options? I only need to go 5mi and feel they might give me a hard time or even turn me down if they have to come out that far

[ I also like to talk to the dealers a lot (especially the cute ones).] Please, I'm begging you , don't do this! A lot (most) of them have trouble following the action as it is. When someone flirts with them forget about it.

Wow, "Another 5k". You should do nothing but play poker. How can you stay away for a month?

There used to be a cab stand in the J lot but no more. Perhaps having the front desk call one for you at Great Cedar Hotel might work.

Seriously, I got stuck at a short handed game where I couldn't get moved because there were so few people the table would have to agree to break (and the others wouldn't) and no new players were joining as it was 3:30 AM.

What happened to all the cute (and not so cute) young Russian (?) girls working in the cashier's cages in the poker room?

I remember last summer nearly every cashier I dealt with was Russian or Eastern European, but my last few trips, no Russians, maybe the recession has put an end to that program?

What, is there a secret handshake or something? Tap out "2p2" in Morse code with a chip?

"Brown trout" or "sup 'Bro" tend to be the secret phrases, however I happened to bring the site up as I suspected a player two seats over from me posted (he actually only reads) due to his mentioning of AHK script, guy to his right hears "2+2" and jumps in to the conversation, turns out it was reedcusa.

I've been playing at the Woods since 2001, starting out at 4/8 Holdem and eventually getting involved with 1/2 NL.

That is where I have stayed with the exception of the occasional 4/8 Omaha game. I was about to move up to 2/5 right before they increased the max buyin for 1/2 and just decided to stick with what I knew. It's worked out pretty well, and if you've played or checked out the 1/2 tables consistently you've probably seen me. The only real defining characteristic is my dark beard and the fact that I like to bring my Oakley Thump glasses (the ones with the headphones). I also like to talk to the dealers a lot (especially the cute ones). Now that the introduction is taken care of...

The last couple of weeks I've been there roughly between 1am and 3am and staying until whenever. I prefer this simply because there is no list, a lot of my favorite dealers/floors work swing, and I am usually there while my family is sleeping rather than missing time with them. (Sleep while my daughters are in school, wife is in work) If you happen to notice me, feel free to say "hey". I can often come off as being quiet or not wanting to talk at the table (sometimes exact opposite and been asked to shut up), but all I really need is someone else to start talking.

As to the actual purpose of my posting, I had a question for you all. Fairly recently (couple months maybe?) they instituted a new policy regarding called hands. Now when a hand makes it to showdown only the winning hand MUST be shown. In other words, if I call a bluff and the player wants to muck, the dealer won't show it even if specifically asked. This to me is mostly about etiquette; I am the kind of guy who if you call my bluff I will usually show first or at the very least tell you what I have in a general sense (ie "Ace high"). You paid for that right, and I'll show.

But the real killer to me is that after the bluffer mucks you are forced to show your hand to claim the pot. It seems to be redundant if the other player has already mucked, I obviously have the winning hand, I am the only one with cards! Furthermore, you are forced to expose your play to the entire table, while the bluffer gets off showing nothing despite being the one who bet last. Obviously we know he/she bluffed, but I handle people who semi-bluff on draws a LOT differently from how I handle people who fire three bullets on air.

It just seems a bit uneven to me. It should be one or the other. If the winner must expose then they should have the right to force the bluffer to expose. If the bluffer is allowed to muck, the winner should be able to take it down with no cards up. I realize they may be trying to protect against teams by forcing the winner to show, but again, force the bluffer to show and I am fine with this.

Opinions?
If a player is willing to muck without seeing your cards at showdown, then you should know the range of hands mucked. Also, don't try to embarrass a bluffer, he's less reluctant to try again.

By the way- as a poker player is there any real reason to swipe in at one of the sweepstakes kiosks when you come in the casino, other then like a one in 10,000 shot at some money? A few years ago when I first got my card I thought you got $5 points just for swiping in, but I was paying close attention to my balance this last trip and didn't seem like I was getting anything. Am I imagining this?

I find it shocking they don't have someone overlooking those things, since nobody >40 can ever work it and the lines just build up

Also worth (if the line is not too long at the "Dream" booth) to sign in every week, you will get an additional 5-20 comp points a week (based on your hours of play) just for dropping by, go at off peak times (3am always works for me) and it will be credited immediately.
