Edit: Speaking of tearing cards, Foxwoods uses plastic cards correct? Anyone know the maker of the cards and the size?
Foxwoods uses Kem brand cards (US Playing Card Company), bridge sized, regular index.

how much do rooms cost on average?
is it worth it?
I play 1/2 about two or three times a week at foxwoods, the games during the day on weekdays are uneventful and boring most of the time ( just a bunch of nits that rarely give action ) but there is still some good value cause they are awful players but nice people. Thursday nights are the good though if you cant play the weekends. If you can only bring 300 you should stick to 1/2, 300 dollars isn't deep enough for 2/5, imo...... foxwoods should bump up the buy-in for the 2/5 games to 300-800. If you do end up going good luck, always nice to win the first time you go

I am at the bar and my friend starts telling me a poker story, he also plays at foxwoods.

1/2 my friend has ~$700 and villian has ~$600

Friend is in MP raises to $15 w/ 1010

Villian calls out of the blinds with 55

flop is J 10 5

villian bets, friend raises, villian reraises, they end up getting it all in, he ended up saying later on the pot was around $1300

turn blank, My friend states that on the river, the dealer burned and then proceeded to peak down at the card without flipping it up, then goes "Ohhhh noooo" and slowly flips up the 5 making quads for villian.

Easy to say my friend went on some serious tilt afterwards.

He did not end up calling the floor or doing anything, i was blown away and i must of told him that he needed to like 50 times. especially after you just got dealer-rolled in a pretty big 1/2 pot. Gotta love Foxwoods.

Just play often, and after a few months you'll start getting cheap/free Mon-Thurs rooms.

First get a Dream Card. I actually just talked to them this morning and my Free room offers are running out next week. She said they get busier in the Spring and Summer time. I have a comped room for tomorrow nite and Wednesday nite. Checked the rates for next week and I could not get comp but could get a Producer's Suite at MGM for 50/night.

To get a poker rate you have to go through the poker room. I am pretty sure you have to be present as well. When you are walking past the 1/2 board with it on your left there is an area halfway up on the right where the Supervisor sits and he will check the poker rate for you.

I have never really got a poker rate that was anything special tbh. Good luck though.

Best advice is get a Dream Card and make sure they have your email address for timely notification of the best offers.

I had a friend receive the Mon-Thurs free rooms after only going once every other month, just playing long sessions. I'm not sure if there is an exact formula for receiving the Mon-Thurs free rooms, but I think it has to do more with avg hours per trip.

On a single trip basis, they run poker rate discounts from time to time. Call the poker room and ask: 860-312-3177. More likely to get it weekday.

I haven't stayed there, but some recommend Bellissimo for cheaper room deals which is close prox to fox: http://www.bellissimogrande.com/

I'll be there from early friday a.m. to late friday night playing 4-8 LHE, maybe some 5-10 if the game looks good. PM me if you want to say hi, or look for the guy who stands up between almost every hand, 6', 185, short flat top, receding hair typical of a 45 yo, prominent ears.

It already plays like that late at night...but besides mohegan has the 800 Max and it plays very nice

Yesterday morning I tried to start an interest list for a 10/20 HORSE game (it ran last tuesday and I was hoping the same players would be in again, we are tring to get it going every tuesday)

But I was told "NO" !!!!!!!!

It seems last week while I was playing in the 10/20 HORSE game, the 10/20 LHE game broke.... And some how the players and/or management thinks it was because the games are the same????? And they should not run both of them at the same time ???? I understand that "we the players" would not want to break one game for another.

But I feel they are two completely different game and have two completely different players pools !!!!!

What do you guys think? Should this ever be a problem ?

ps. we did get a game going later on last night around 8ish different floor people helped us with this.... We played 10/20 with a half kill just because we did not any problems..... Game was still running when I left at 230am

I had the same problem Sunday trying to start a list for 10-20 HORSE. I was turned down a few days ago because (as I was told) the 10-20 LHE and Stud players "screamed bloody murder" because they thought it would kill their games.
(Which is ridiculous. The player pools are indeed mostly different, the HORSE players generally do not want to play straight 7-stud or LHE; the attraction of HORSE lies in O8, Stud 8, and, for a perverted few of us, Razz, and in the variety itself.) (Also, I noted that both the 10-20 stud and LHE games had waiting lists constantly, all day Sunday.)
A day or two later, someone else apparently got them to actually start a 10-20 HORSE list sometime in the mid-morning. When I left at 6:30 PM, there were 9 names on the list (!), but the game had never been called (!).
It seems to me that FW should post the lists as requested, and let the players vote with their feet (and money).

I got a food coupon in the mail today that is good for one day only. It is for the 21st, a Wednesday. Why wouldn't they make it for the 19th, which is a MA holiday?

Because they know that Wednesday is inconvenient and that you're probably NOT going to go. They still get credit for "giving you the offer" yet you won't ever use it.
