Yea I was at MS in December and they couldn't seem to get their sh*t straight at all (system-logging-wise). Have they replaced their tables yet btw?

re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

For me, it was the combination of the horrible cards, terrible chairs, failure to comp properly, rude/incompetent floor, and the tables without drink holders. There were some nice features but I think theres too much that irritates me to go back to MS. They promised they were going to change the decks of cards months ago, same with tables. I dont think either have been replaced yet.

Yes I did, they told me to talk to floor the next day if I see a discrepancy. Well, I play 6 days a week and it would be an every day thing.

But they do finally have cup holders..whoopie shyte..lol

So did they eventually give in and comp you for all the logged hours they overlooked, or did they just apologize and say too bad?

Whatever problems with the point system that existed at MS have seemed to be fixed. I haven't had any problems with points being rewarded for at least a few months. Also if you play enough hours each week you will get a lounge pass, a lounge that's much better than FW. Also don't know why some of you don't like the chairs, they're much more comfortable than FW IMO.

I asked a few of the regular 2/5 players last night, and they all said that points are on their cards by the next day.

All the tables tops have been changed to have cup holders.

The cards are the same.

Have not checked lately but you can ask floor or at signin desk to check your days/hours played, and see where you stand black card wise.
BUT I still can't find out if you play past 6AM do they count another day to your total?
Go 2-3 times a month and in May will be going 2-3 times a week untill I get the black card so I would like to know too, if I can get 2 day credit after 6AM.
Thanks

re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

Hello all, been a long time player at Foxwoods but never thought to look up a discussion until now. Could have something to do with becoming unemployed and thus having more time/commitment to playing. I'm fortunate in that I live just outside Hartford now, so the trip is not too long. I've been playing at the Woods since 2001, starting out at 4/8 Holdem and eventually getting involved with 1/2 NL.

That is where I have stayed with the exception of the occasional 4/8 Omaha game. I was about to move up to 2/5 right before they increased the max buyin for 1/2 and just decided to stick with what I knew. It's worked out pretty well, and if you've played or checked out the 1/2 tables consistently you've probably seen me. The only real defining characteristic is my dark beard and the fact that I like to bring my Oakley Thump glasses (the ones with the headphones). I also like to talk to the dealers a lot (especially the cute ones). Now that the introduction is taken care of...

The last couple of weeks I've been there roughly between 1am and 3am and staying until whenever. I prefer this simply because there is no list, a lot of my favorite dealers/floors work swing, and I am usually there while my family is sleeping rather than missing time with them. (Sleep while my daughters are in school, wife is in work) If you happen to notice me, feel free to say "hey". I can often come off as being quiet or not wanting to talk at the table (sometimes exact opposite and been asked to shut up), but all I really need is someone else to start talking.

As to the actual purpose of my posting, I had a question for you all. Fairly recently (couple months maybe?) they instituted a new policy regarding called hands. Now when a hand makes it to showdown only the winning hand MUST be shown. In other words, if I call a bluff and the player wants to muck, the dealer won't show it even if specifically asked. This to me is mostly about etiquette; I am the kind of guy who if you call my bluff I will usually show first or at the very least tell you what I have in a general sense (ie "Ace high"). You paid for that right, and I'll show.

But the real killer to me is that after the bluffer mucks you are forced to show your hand to claim the pot. It seems to be redundant if the other player has already mucked, I obviously have the winning hand, I am the only one with cards! Furthermore, you are forced to expose your play to the entire table, while the bluffer gets off showing nothing despite being the one who bet last. Obviously we know he/she bluffed, but I handle people who semi-bluff on draws a LOT differently from how I handle people who fire three bullets on air.

It just seems a bit uneven to me. It should be one or the other. If the winner must expose then they should have the right to force the bluffer to expose. If the bluffer is allowed to muck, the winner should be able to take it down with no cards up. I realize they may be trying to protect against teams by forcing the winner to show, but again, force the bluffer to show and I am fine with this.

Opinions?

Yes, there called Acts.

Act 1.. $65 buy-in, 10 players, top two get entry an Act 2 entry voucher.

Act 2.. $250 buy-in (or entry voucher from an Act 1) 10 players, top two get an Act 3 entry voucher.

Act 3..$1,100 buy-in (or entry voucher from an Act 2) This is a MTT, 1 seat too the big show for every 10 entries.

The "I want to see the hand" rule is discussed a lot on these boards. They started the new rule because people would ALWAYS ask, even though it's only supposed to be used for collusion. It's been abused a lot all around the country.

You have to show the hand to win the pot though. That's just a standard rule.

re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

Weird hand occured at my table while I played on Thursday. Heads up as the river is dealt between some loose player and a woman at my table. After the river is dealt the loose player (1st to act) open folded his hand.

The dealer claimed at this point that the woman HAD to show her hand, she argued against this. She claimed that if the loose player hadn't opened folded then she could have bet and then the loose player would have folded and she would NOT of had to show.

The floor was called and initially ruled that she had to show her hand to claim the pot. She complied ( it ended up being like the 5th pair on board, which was probably the best hand but in reality she was *bluffing* the whole way as she had the *Im a girl and have the nuts always when I bet image*)

She used the argument that if she was big blind and everyone folded to her she wouldn't have to show to claim the pot. This was refuted by the arguement by another player that the big blind is in actuality a bet that was uncalled.

It never really got resolved but I thought it was unfair that she had to show based on the fact that she never had the option to bet on the river to protect her from showing the hand. But the floor stood by the rule that a winning hand MUST be shown unless there is an uncalled bet that prevents this rule from being applied. To me, this was a ridiculous interpretation of the rule.

re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

i play there alot and this is how it seems. you call the floor for a ruling they give you one rule. you call a diff floor person you get a totaly different ruling. which is ultimately annoying. theyre great guys there but they relaly need to get together and figure things out theres been multible times where the short older blad guy has been in arguments with players and than another floor person comes over and basically fixes things and it makes the first floor guy look like a fool for arguing and being wrong the whole time..

re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

i know this may seem crazy guys but im not on any (hard) drugs...

i went to foxwoods around the end of febuary, and when i got to my 4/8 table i could of sworn kido pham was in the 1 seat. i was in the 10 seat so there was obv a dealer in between us but from what i saw i could swear it was ****ing kido pham. i know this might seem crazy but has anyone seen kido playing at foxwoods or someone who looks exactly like him?

PS - kido or not i ended up putting the cooler on for a very healthy 4/8 pot

Current Foxwoods Conditions???

Looking to take a trip up there next month. What is the Sun - Thurs games like? scale of 1 -10 1 being a morgue and 10 being a rocking weekend with lots of tourists.

Also, do they rake 1/2 now? or still time charge?

The 1/2 action is always good, with usually 10 - 12 tables......

How are the 2/5 games during the week? The more I play live the more I wonder why I even bother with online poker. I mean, volume obv. and definitely a higher hourly expectation online...but for me I can play 3-4x longer per session live.
