i don't really play poker there anymore, but blackjack over at mgm. Anyone know what's up with the lounges at mgm? or lounges in general. I just got a platinum card but have no idea what my benefits are.

The MGM lounge is pretty weak. It's located behind the VIP check-in desk in the hotel lobby. It's just a TV and some finger sandwiches. And for some reason you don't automatically gain access to it, you still need to ask a host. The best lounge is Pequot 21st floor IMO.

Biggest Platinum benefit IMO is the 2 free rooms/week... *any* 2 days. You can get Fri/Sat for free, which is sick. Beware - like the weekday freebies, there's a limited number of free rooms... you'll still need to book a couple weeks in advance if you want it free.

Other good perks are 3 entires/day into any FW lounge (Newport might only be 1/day though, can't remember. That's the one in the Pequot high rollers area and open 24 hrs). You'll get 2 free tickets to almost every show. The private parking is kinda nice to have too. I guess being able to cut in line at restaurants while it's real busy is good too, though I almost always eat in the lounges.

If you *just* got it (qualified for it sometime this year, past 3 months) it's good through December.

i do my fair share of tipping. I saw that on their site but it's not very clear. Seems like they want to keep all the benefits hidden from you even though you have access.

Correct, though opposite... 800 for Gold, 2000 for Platinum. Fixed 6 month period (Jan-Jun, Jul-Dec).

Sup FW regs. I am thinking of making the trek to 'The Woods' April 23-25th, however it seems the only rooms available are at the Two Trees Inn. Is that truly across the street from the casino (as their website claims)? How reliable is the shuttle?

Help a newb out

It's more down the road than across the street. A friend of mine stayed there recently. The rooms are pretty pleasant as well. I'm unsure about the shuttle, but my friend said it was reliable.

Have you tried booking online? It seems like there should be alot more options than that. www.foxwoods.com go to the upper right and check out the online bookings if not. If you fail or already have tried that, try calling the poker room and ask for rates if youve played there before.

I'm not surprised by the limited availability. It's a weekend less than a month away. Plus there's a Vietnamese show that Saturday, place will be packed. I actually looked at rooms yesterday for that Saturday and I came up empty.

Yeah, I tried online and the only rooms it gave me were at Two Trees I'm really only looking for a place to crash in between sessions, so if its truly "across the street" I'd probably be ok with it. Obv much prefer to stay at the casino, but what can you do :-]

It's really not bad at all. I stayed there two nights last week and the shuttle was fine. You could walk it easily but I just assume take the shuttle. Just make sure you tell the shuttle driver you want to get off at Rainmaker Casino.

The rooms are fine and the restaurant isn't bad either.

Got two nights at MGM next week. Rooms are so much nicer there

I have started to realize that by booking farther in advance instead of last minute is your best bet. You can always cancel a day in advance. I just set a reminder on my phone.

Two trees isn't bad but I would much rather be at Great Cedar or Pequot. Cedar has the worst rooms but is best location for everything. MGM's rooms are so damn nice though it's worth the walk.

Edit: Just realized you were paying and this is for the weekend. How much they charge you per night?

Just thinking, the walk from MGM rooms to the poker room is probably the same distance as the walk from the poker room across the parking lot to Two Trees.

2trees is a short walk. Or if what I hear on the news, you might be able to swim.

MGM might have the nicest rooms but it is definetly a solid 15 minute walk tot he poker room, 10 from the gran pequot. that sucks that you cant find anything better online

No doubt about the walks that is why I prefer Great Cedar. The shuttles were running pretty good last week. I waited less than 5 minutes for every one I took. Two Trees probably is a shorter walk than MGM although its outside. You can take shuttles from MGM to Rainmaker also if you want. I don't really mind the walking though.

I'll be down for the day tomorrow. I think I am playing the 120 at 11 a.m.

How do you get to MGM from the poker room anyways? I've always wanted to walk down there but haven't had the chance yet.

Just go like you are going to the Grand Pequot and stay to the left and walk past it. Keep walking about 5 miles lol and you will come up to it eventually.

It's not really that far but after walking back and forth 5 times in one day it does get kind of old quick.

Not sure if you guys know but a good tip for you as well. If you have a WPT dream card you get ten percent off your bill at the stadium. Just make sure you remind the bartender when you give the card. You can get the card made for you in the poker room if you just have a regular one.

are there any added benefits to getting a WPT card as opposed to the regular dream card? I kinda like giving them the regular dream card, dosen't jump out that your anything more then a casual player

The only benefit is the 10% stadium discount mentioned above. That's it.

Ya that is the only one benefit that I know of. You can have as many cards as you want fwiw. If you have ten dream cards they will all be valid...
