Cash Games run daily:

NLHE
1/2, 2/5, 5/10

LHE
2/4, 4/8, 10/20, 20/40

7 Stud
1-3 spread, 1-5 spread, 5/10, 10/20, 20/40, 75/150

Omaha

Cash Games run occasionally:

NLHE
10/20, 10/25. Typically run when there are major tournaments going on (WPT, Megastacks, etc), but sometimes also run on random days.

LHE
5/10 w/kill. Used to be a regular game but now just runs sometimes.
40/80 or 50/100. Typically runs on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday evenings.

Omaha
1/2 PLO and/or 1/2 PLO H/L. Most days at least 1 of these games will run but not always.
2/5 PLO sometimes gets started as well.

OE (Omaha H/L, 7 card H/L)
10/20 or 15/30. Runs a few days during the week.

NL/PL Buy-ins:

1/2 - $60-300
2/5 - $200-500
5/10 - $500-2k
10/20 - $1k-5k
10/25 - $2.5k-unlimited

Other Cash Games:

Higher stakes games get run during major tournaments. Also mixed games can pop up at any time, anywhere in stakes from 5/10 to 150/300, and any mix of the games that make up HORSE (HORSE, OE, SOE, etc… H and R are rarely seen in a mix outside of a full HORSE game).

There is a webpage set up that shows all of the games currently running, updated every 15 minutes.
http://www.foxwoods.com/currentgames.aspx

Some general rules:
  • The betline is merely a courtesy line for the dealers. Please place all bets inside this line. It is not used for legal enforcement of any action.
  • At showdown, you must show 2 cards to make a claim to the pot, even if all others muck without showing.
  • There is no IWTSTH rule.
  • Players (up to 2) are allowed up to 1 hour away from the table, after which you risk being picked up by the floor.
  • There is a 3rd man walking rule in raked games. If there are at least 2 other players away from the table, you only have 10 minutes to be away from the table. There is no such rule in timed games.
  • In PL/NL games, $100 cash bills play, but other cash denominations do not. In limit games, most cash denominations play.

Tournaments:

Foxwoods runs several daily tournaments. They also run lots of special tournaments, such as Megastacks (quarterly), Foxwoods Poker Classic (Mar/Apr), WPT (Oct/Nov), and several holiday events. Tournament monthly schedule can be found here:
http://www.foxwoods.com/dailyevents.aspx
More information on these tournaments can be found in various tabs/links on the Foxwoods Poker website linked above.

Bad Beat Jackpot:

Foxwoods runs 2 player-funded bad beat jackpots (BBJ) – 1 for holdem and 1 for stud. The games that contribute to and are eligible for the BBJ are:

Holdem
1-2nl, 2-5nl, 2-4, 4-8, 5-10, 10-20.

Stud
1-3, 1-5, 5-10.

For holdem, a hand of quad 8’s or better must lose to a better hand for the BBJ to be hit. Both hole cards in both hands must play, and for quads the player must hold a pocket pair (A8 on 888xx board doesn’t qualify, despite the Ace playing). For stud, quad 2’s or better must lose to a better hand.

50% of the jackpot is awarded to the 2nd place hand (the “loser”), 25% awarded to the winner, and 25% split among the rest of the players. You must be dealt into the hand to receive a share – if you were away from the table, you’re ineligible.

These are the general rules. Please visit the website for further specific rules.

Comps:

Comps are tracked using the Rewards card. These can be obtained at any of the several Rewards desks found throughout the property. The floorperson can also create one for you. All you need is a valid ID.

Foxwoods Poker Room utilizes the Bravo tracking system. The dealer will swipe your Rewards card when you sit at the table, and log you out when you leave. Your points will be immediately available on your account.

Points are the equivalent of dollars, which can be used anywhere in the casino, except for gaming (hotel, restaurant, retail, etc). They do allow you to cash out your points, at a rate of 2 points for $1 cash. Retail gift cards, such as Mobil gas cards, Stop & shop cards, etc, can be purchased for 62.5 points for a $50 card. If you use points to purchase gas at the Mobil station, the rate is 1 point to $1.
Comps at restaurants - Points are redeemed at 1:1 at all restaurants with the following exceptions:
Guy Fieri's - the point:dollar ratio is 1.25:1
Bake Culture - the point:dollar ratio is 2:1
The amount of points you earn varies by game. Each game title will be followed by the letter L, M, or H (example: 1-2 No Limit H). This tells you the comp level for that game. L = 0.85 pt/hr, M = 1.275 pt/hr, H = 1.7 pt/hr, HC = 1.7 pt/hr (Time collection instead of rake).

There are weekly/monthly comps that are awarded, such as cash giveaways, gifts, show tickets, free points, free rooms, etc. The way to earn these as a poker player is relatively unknown, as the comp system is rather enigmatic in this regard.

Tier credits are earned at poker at a rate of 4 credits per point earned. So 1 hour at 1/2nl earns 1.7 pts and 6.8 credits. Occasionally the casino will run promotions which multiply the earn rate. Tier credits are what is used to advance in tier card status. Please see the website for more info on tier card benefits and requirements.

Hotels:

There are 3 hotels within the structure: Great Cedar, Grand Pequot, and Fox Tower (formerly MGM). There is a 4th hotel on the property called Two Trees Inn. There is a shuttle which runs between Foxwoods and Two Trees every 10 minutes, 24/7. All hotels have wireless internet.

Here are some Pros/Cons to each:
  • Fox Tower – Generally accepted as the nicest hotel, having the most comfortable beds, large bathrooms, great showers. Rooms are around 400 sqft. It is the farthest from the poker room, taking most people around 15 mins to walk.
  • Grand Pequot – Has the largest rooms (450 sqft), renovated around 2 years ago. Most centrally located on-property of the 3. Prices were raised when remodeled.
  • Great Cedar – Renovated around 6 years ago. Closest to the poker room. Smaller then Pequot/Fox Tower (350 sqft). Tiny bathroom. Lots of noise from hallway/outside.
  • Two Trees – Generally the cheapest of them all. Motel quality, renovated around 2 years ago. Inconvenience of waiting for the shuttle (or walking/driving).

There is no poker rate for the hotels. Hotel rates will vary for each person based on their player rating with the casino, as well as the usual factors (day of week, availability, etc). Floors will usually have no problem finding out what’s available for you if you inquire while playing. All quoted prices will have a $25/night resort fee added on (except Two Trees, which is $18) as well as 15% tax. No resort fee on comped rooms.

There are lots of hotels/motels within 15-20 mins driving distance around Foxwoods. A google search should reveal most of them. They will generally be much cheaper than staying on property. Search this thread for ‘priceline’ for tips on staying for cheap.

Parking:

The closest garage to the poker room is the Rainmaker Garage. The closest surface lot is J Lot (also the closest parking overall). There is also the Rainmaker Valet just outside the parking garage.

I was actually going to make that the first post but was pretty sure it would have driven everyone away from the thread.

in all seriousness...

I live about an hour north and I have never been yet (almost 22)

I am wondering...

How are the games during weekdays?
What time of year is juciest?
best game to buy in for around 300? 1/2, 2/5 w/e
any tournaments worthwile (same $300 max)
how much do rooms cost on average?
is it worth it?

I realize i could find the answers if I searched but this thread was just made so might as well put some content in it

juiciest for 300 id say is the 1/2 tables only because theres alot of people that buy in for bare min 60 and just go nuts with it sit back relax and wait for some hands and just own it. il be there tommorow usualy there 3 times a week or more. idk much about the sit n gos other than the 60 dollar ones are super fast and are like turbos and only top 2 get paid the 120 buy ins top 3 get paid 500 300 100 they do have alot of tournaments usualy going. if ur into the small buy ins they do a 60 dollar turbo with usualy like 65-80 people seems fun. gl everyone hope to see some of you there

November is the best because of the bigger WPT event. I've broken my personal record every year, for losing.

just got back, played 1/2 tonight, game was good to ok. week nights tables are hit or miss IMO, but by no means tough or anything, just sometimes more on the weak tight side.

Yes, thanks for getting this thread started!

I'll be there tomorrow afternoon (Friday), until Saturday afternoon. If one of you guys are at my table and I do something really stupid I hope you won't admonish me on here. Although a pm with serious commentary would be appreciated.

Whhooohooo...staying over for the first time. I was thinking of parking in the Rain Maker garage so that it's the shortest distance when I leave. I'm planning on taking my bag with me to the table if I get there way too early for check-in. Then taking a short break to get my room when I can. Then doing things in reverse when I check-out. Anyone see anything wrong in my thinking?

If you get there any time after 11 am you will probably be able to check in immediately as opposed to carrying your bag to the poker room with you. For what its worth I would usually just leave my bag in my car until i check in and bring it directly to car after checking out. Even if you are on a table you will have up to an hour to go and complete check in and then get back to table or go on dinner reseating and you will have 2 hours and be placed 2nd on list when you come back. Also the Great Cedar garage may be a nice midpoint to park unless you are staying at Two Trees.

A month of rigorous investigation indicated that Cedar's Steakhouse makes the best burger in CT.
