i have a question about Bellissimo Grande hotel.

on their website it says they will match local rates but their rates are way higher than what you can find on travelocity. is there a trick to getting good rates at Bellissimo? or are you better off going with other little hotels that are a bit farther away from Foxwoods?

I don't know what you consider good rates, but I stayed there last week for $79. I thought it was fair. Nice place, though with the high ceilings in the room I was wishing for a basketball hoop to shoot around a bit.
and they charge $10 for internet.....I thought everywhere included that by now.

A warning for showing your cards? That's ridiculous.

It's the first player's fault for not checking with the dealer if a call had been made, that's a basic mistake.

I've turned one or two cards over several times in key spots and it's always helped, never had anyone complain, never had the floor involved, seen many people do it, never been a problem.

I went down Friday night, surprised it wasn't busy, played 1/2 and it was open seating, got there around 7, didn't expect that, but I'm usually a weekend morning player.

Personally, I never show a card or a hand for a reaction, but it doesn't bother me if others do it. It's been a part of the game for a long time, and I think it should be allowed. But I'm really commenting here on the confusion surrounding it at FW; either policy would be OK if made clear and consistently enforced. (I guess that's asking a lot.)
yeah, been there the last two days.. interesting couple tidbits that i had to lol at..

one hand, i had top top, he degen tanks his way thru and bets out on the river, i flat it, and he tosses his hands into the muck.. then the dealer starts going thru the ****ing muck to find his card, taking advice from the other players at the table.. i call floor and the goon lets the play stand.. i won the hand, but i had to take a walk, heh..

another i watched a guy going heads up with another cap on the turn, then the dealer drops the deck into the muck and puts her head in her hands.. she calls floor, floor has her mix up all of the cards with the muck, then cut the deck, and burn and turn the river. . is that correct? i've never really seen anything like it..

Beware Foxwoods folks. I was there yesterday and in between the 9 am tourney and the noon one I went upstairs to kill some time, since some degan moron gets lucky on the river to knock me out. I sat at the crazy 4 poker table for some fun, and after 15 minutes the dealer was crushing the table. Sets, two pair, straights and flushes, hand after hand. Being the superstitious moron that I am I asked the dealer to wash the cards before she put the deck in the shuffle machine. She got defensive and said NO. I asked for the pit boss and he told me that there was a gaming commision rule that said they couldnt wash the cards, also very defensive. Made no sense to me. Another pit boss came over to back his buddy up. So did the supervisor. All 3 stated it was a gaming commision rule. I said where is the gaming commision and they had to make a call to find out where it was. I went over there and asked a few questions. 1) Is the gaming commision there to protect the players? They answered honestly, imo. and said they were there to protect players and the casono. 2) Who pays you? To my surprise the answer was "the tribe". I explained the situation, they looked up the "rules" on the computer and told me there was no gaming commision rule that said the couldnt wash the cards, and that the only card washing rule was when new decks were put in play and they must wash the cards. I returned to the table, told the players that we were lied to by 3 casino employees. Of course the shifts had changed in the mean time and I ended up taling to the new shift supervisor, who actually was sympathetic to my story and said he didnt know what he would do if asked for a wash. He also admitted in all the years that he worked the pit, he had never been asked for a wash. The wonder of it all....PS, I am pretty sure the casino doesnt want to wash the cards cuz it takes one minute and if they do it for me, someone could ask for a wash after every hand, and slow the action to a crawl.

Unintelligible nonsense from someone that takes 4 card poker seriously, is ruled by his superstition, and confounded by his ignorance.

Oh and try paragraphs and punctuation, looks like something an 8 year old would write.

theres no pitt bosses in the poker room they're called floormen. I've never heard of not being allowed to wash the cards...pretty sure they usually comply at the 5-10 whenever the angry miserable old men scream at the dealer to wash the cards so they can find other excuses as to why they're losing they're money because they refuse to believe its cause they don't have a clue how to play the game

Actually, for the last several weeks, FW dealers have been saying that they've been instructed to refuse to wash decks. No mention of Gaming Commission (!), but they've said it's because it slows the game.
(Personally, I've always thought it was a silly waste of time, but I've never worried about it if some other player requested a wash occasionally.)

having experienced this at the woods, i can shed light on the floor's response to showing one's cards to elicit a reaction...they know full well it's within the rules but because it at times can lead to arguments (and require their attention god forbid) they purposely intimate that it's bad etiquette, frowned upon, etc...this always pissed me off partly because the rest of the droolers at the table, who couldn't read between the lines, would then start policing it and tell me it wasn't allowed when in fact it is and should be...

This is impressive.

First, it ensures more hands played.

Second, it will tilt the superstitious players.

I was playing at the Borgata recently and they refused to wash cards (except for new decks). I thought this was a plus for the Borgata vs. Foxwoods. Happy to be wrong.

See now I'm seeing people say about the showing cards heads up in cash game ****. I really wish Foxwoods floors would have a general conscencus and make a standard rule and inform the dealers so the questions don't arise.

So I finally got up to Foxwoods this past weekend - a couple of notes:

- The $2/$5 is a joke, as is the $5/$10
- Frankie Flowers was nothing special - I was expecting a maniac and didn't even see him three bet that often (he's the NY guy with a mustache, right?)
- The floor, dealers, etc. were totally fine - from all the threads on here about FW, I was expecting like a bunch of incompetent slobs. All the nits on here complaining about those guys need to go spend some time in the midwest!

That's all I got - I'll be back up there next weekend for another easy payday, but would love some feedback from the FW NL regs on here - did I miss something or has the stuff I've been reading just been way off?

You have proven that players exaggerate in poker forums But I agree that everyone in Foxwoods should play in a brick and motor in a certain MIdwestern city.

I should probably point out that my two dealer errors in 23 hours of play isn't terrible in my opinion; rather, I was simply pointing out interestingly lame-o spots I saw..

Floor overall has kept me safe a number of times when the silliness ensues when drunk 1/2NL guys get rowdy and I don't feel like fistfighting over a 3-bet, lol.

Mmmm, I'm one of the people who commented on some dealer / floor incompentencies. I'm not a nit, have played at FWs a good amount of times, and still stand by what I experienced first hand - not exaggerations.

I unfortunately haven't had a chance to play the last couple of weeks though. Will be up there this Sunday through Tuesday so will hopefully have a better opinion of things this time.

Right on all counts. If you can beat 5/10 NL consistently, my hat's off to you.

Good points. Actually, I've always thought that a player's requesting a wash was a pretty good sign that their understanding of math, luck, and randomness was probably somewhat limited.

There are a few differing views on the dream points you get for playing 1/2 NL ( $1/hr or $1.50/hr) in this thread.

I asked a floor on Monday and he said $1.50/hr. I also am about 95% sure I confirmed this by checking my balance before and after my session on Monday although I forgot how much that bacon/egg/cheese sandwich I bought with my dream points cost.
