Loving the fact that there is a Day 1 of the MSPT that starts tomorrow at 4pm. Able to go to work and still play in the evening. I was in there today for a few and the area next to the poker room is cleared out for tables again so looks like room for 200 or so a day.

Cool. I was hoping to get in some 1/2 over the next few days but wasn't sure how that would work with mspt going on. Sounds like cash games are still running.

Fire keepers 1/2nl game is much better than motor city in Detroit...$400 max buyin and spewy action from even the good players from my experience. Anyone grind the low stakes at fire keeper during the week regularly? What's the action like? How many tables? Mainly regs?

Nothing to see here during the week. Everyones solid. Move along.
Weekday evevning games are incredibly soft. Some regs but a lot of them suck. Seek out the old guy with his wife sitting behind him reading a book. Usually 3-4 tables running until midnight, starting to break a bit after that. Only downside is the $400 buy in might not matter as most stacks are $50-$150.
Any updates on how things are going for people?? I happened to stop in on a whim Friday and forgot about the mspt, and ended up playing some Plo, and hit a couple hands and ended up leaving about 9pm.... the table I was at was super juicy...probably had a easy 10 to 15k, of money in play on the table

Lately, there have been at least six 1/2 tables and a 2/5 every Friday and Saturday night.

Occasionally there are two 2/5 tables, but this usually depends on the PLO action. The game is good either way.

1/2 plo runs pretty regular on the weekend. Usually 1, but sometimes 2 tables. FK is on the bravo app fwiw. Im sure you wont be disappointed with the games if you stop here on any random weekend. It's a great room.

Working in Holland Mon-Wed this week. Any of the Firekeepers donkaments worth the 1.5h drive each way, and in particular, do they finish up by ~10:30?
thx

Eh. Mon & Wed are $65, 20 minute levels, usually 25-45 runners. Could go til 11:00 I think. Tues is a $40 with 15 minute levels, will likely be done around 10:00. May get a few more runners for that one. $1-$2 action is there every night though.

buuuuuuump; has anybody from this thread played at fire keepers recently or play there often?

Thinking about driving up from illinois to play some 1/2 nlh but have never played live at a casino before. Basically has it changed at all over the past couple years and if so whats the action like now? Hopefully not a bad question since this thread hasnt been updated in almost a year.. Any help or word would be greatly appreciated.

Go to the Detroit thread and ask about Firekeepers. Many of the Detroit regs have some experience playing FK's

WOWoo ... Didn't realize there was a Firekeepers Thread .. Or maybe I did and we decided to ignore it!!

Come take a look at both the Detroit and West Michigan threads for more traffic I would think.

My thoughts ..

1/2 at 'Keepers is usually very good. If not going through the night it usually starts up by 900 AM with a table trying to sneak into the high hand promotion before it rolls over at 1000. Stacks can range from $100 up to $1000 at these tables with usually 2-3 tables running past 2-3 AM on weekend for sure!!

2/5 is growing by the month down there but is still sporadic during the week. The game plays bigger of course .. and a little slower .. than the 1/2 game but I believe the game is much more skillful at this level. There is a little bit of scared money syndrome at times as well whereas some of the moves at the 1/2 tables will shake your poker core!!

1/3 PLO runs a few times a week as well and is probably the biggest game consistently spread. There is a core group of players that rely on 'learners' to fill the game during the week, but it usually runs strong on weekends. This game is 'match the stack' so you will get some players sitting right down with $1000+ later in the evening. I've also seen 2/5 PLO and once a 5/10 PLO spread here as well.

Home of 2 (Spring and Fall) MSPT stops in Michigan .. Firekeepers runs excellent tournaments and has an unique series of Sunday tournaments running from $120-400 depending on the week. These tournaments usually draw at least 80 players and that last $400 BI (Only run on months with 5 Sundays) had well over 200. The expanded poker room should allow them to run the tournaments without slowing down the cash games as much .. but these larger tournaments will 'rule the day' when they are spread (as they should).

Comps of $0.80 per hour don't hurt and 'logged in' poker players are included in the casino promotional drawings as well. This doesn't happen at most casinos IMO.

Dealers and floor are excellent (most of the time) and I believe they survived some turnover in staff this Summer without much issue at all as well. Believe me, the floors run the room .. not the players .. and that is a very good thing for a poker room!!

Come enjoy .. MSPT qualifiers and satellites are running with the ME starting October 13th. Cash games will be more than excellent through that weekend. GL

Great showing on Day 1A of the MSPT event ($1100 BI). Around 190 entries (not people, entries) for a new high on 1A.

I'm not even sure if they had a waiting list the whole night for the tournament and the cash table lists were never past the 1 page in the early hours of the tournament.

I think the room expansion did them well. I bagged some tournament chips so I wont be back until Sunday. Hopefully they do just as well handling the event on Friday and Saturday and get that 1st place up to $200K!! GL

I went last night (Friday) at about 8pm. The place was packed. Lots of excitement and more than 100 on the various waiting lists. Still they seated me within half an hour (I called ahead). The tournament tables broke quickly and they were quickly filled with cash tables.

It's been a while since I've been there and I was quite happy with the cash games. There was some $5-$10 and some big PLO playing until about 4 in the morning.

Another great MSPT weekend at FK!! I didn't see (or hear) of any major snafus at all. I had no issues with any of the new dealers either. A couple were a bit slow, but they were being very deliberate and trying not to screw up!!

I min cashed the tournament and played cash until 12:00. The tournament final table was still 5 handed when I left.

Next 'for sure' date down there will be on October 30th for the $400 '5th' Sunday tournament. GL

Don't forget that the 5th Sunday $400 BI tournament is this weekend. This event usually draws in around 200+ so is well worth your while to give it a go.

I didn't play the May event, but in January the top 4 each got just below $11K in a chop arrangement. GL
