5+1

Difference being most casinos rake the bbj at $20, and they take the buck after the pot exceeds $30.

is it 5 maximum rake every street? Or the whole pot after the hand is completed?

How often do 2/5 and 1/3 games run? Was there once last year on a weekday. Only 1/2 games ran. With the $200 max, it was not worth it.

Whole pot. $5 each street would guarantee no games.

1/3 most Fridays and Saturdays, with 2/5 when the 1/3 players occasionally when they stop nitting it up.

You might get some feedback if you post in the Detroit Thread:

I haven't seen anyone talk about fire keepers in many many months in that thread. Why not call the casino?

What time do the $1/$2 NL games usually get going on a typical Saturday?

Current Status of Room is a overwhelming amount of nits playing 1/2 NL. 50-200 buy in. 1/3 NL with a 100-500 buy in runs regularly on Friday and Saturday nights. 1/2 or 1/3 PLO runs regularly on Thursday nights as the 6:00 PLO tournament breaks down.

Tournaments are $80 buy in Wednesday and Sunday @ Noon and draw 50-72 players(which is max) and $65 buy in PLO tournament on Thursday's @ 6:00 draws 40-50 players.

Room does not run as many promotions as most, but does offer a WSOP Satellite twice a year. Bad Beat is Aces/Jacks beat by Quads and is currently around 25k.

Clientele is generally laid back (very few asses) and the dealers are the best in the state (they keep their own tips, so they are motivated to get hands out and be invested in their game). Overall a nice room considering their market isn't as big as Horseshoe (Chicago) or the Detroit Casinos.

I have found that Firekeepers has the best staff in the Michigan. Unfortunately they are struggling to get any big games past 1/2 right now. The biggest is a 1/3 that runs on Fridays and Saturdays.

Really can't say enough how well this room is run compared to others in the Midwest. If you are a low stakes player it is a good place to go.

Wednesday is an $80 NLHE tournament @ Noon (usually approx 50 players). This runs into 3-5 cash games in the evening (usually all 1-2 NL).

This Wednesday will be the exception as they are running a special NFL promotion with drawings for seats into two separate nine player $1000 free rolls, so the room should be full for most of the day.

I don't understand the aversion to playing short handed. I feel my edge increase and variance decrease as the table gets shorter.

A 9-handed game is great as long as the room implements "third man walking." While I like playing 6-, 5-, or even shorter, too often the other players quickly shut down when they perceive the table as too short. Throw in the fact that Firekeepers is already a very tight room along with the max buy-in being a low 200 (at the most common game) and you have a recipe for boredom.

The 3-6 limit without kill game is unbelievably soft, although it has a high rake. Game runs only on Fri and Sat nights. There is a quite appealing bad beat jackpot that pays the whole room.when it hits. People play any 2 cards and poorly. A lot of older farm types play and some older ones are of a certain age (ancient). I higly recommend this game, obviously. You get one dollar an hour comps, too

Visited last night for my first time @ Firekeepers. Nice place - lots of activity at the Poker Room - my table cycled through players, but new ones were added somewhat consistantly. Enjoyable and not as nitty as some earlier posts mentioned. I believe they were running 3 Tables of 1-2 NL and 2 limit tables running 3-6. On a Wednesday night, they had at least 5 semi-full to full tables going. Bad Beat currently @ $71K. They pay the whole room.

Tournaments here are a joke. $60+$10 for 2,000 chips, and a $10 dealer gratuity add on for another 2,000. LOL flipaments.
