+$485 in 8 hours playing 1/2NLHE - got really hot towards the end of the night.

I'm amazed at the calls I was getting after playing like a nit. fold for 90 minutes straight then get 3 callers for pot sized $25 bet after flopping my set makes for a nice pot

The play at the tables was so much easier than the shark tank I've been playing at.

Late in the evenening a drunk girl showed up at the table and has no idea how to play. She limps from UTG - pot ends up $12 - flop A82 - sb check, BB check, she pushes allin for $88, flips her A8 face up in front of her and reaches for the pot... dealer trys to explain to her that there is still action... everyone folds. Over the next 15 minutes, she blows through $100, goes gets another $100 and is walking around the card room lost. Half of our table stands and waves and hoots/hollars trying to get her attention. Drunk girl returns and promptly blows through rest of cash

Later, I call a $7 raised pot w/ 96 flop comes 962 - I check - maniac behind me bets $16 w/ 2 callers, as I announce raise and start pushing my stack into the middle, dealer puts up the J. before I can finish my bet - I'm - and he explains the card will be shuffled back in the deck... maniac calls w/ QQ - 96 holds up
That sounds awesome. I really need to try and get up there some time.

It really does seem that they don't pay attention there...you can just camp out for ever, and when you think you've established a table image, you realize that they weren't paying the least bit of attention.

1/2 no limit live plays like this 90% of time all over the world. People always get excited hearing stories of donkey play when in fact 1/2 no limit live is like this everyday in every casino with the exception of some Casino's day time locals playing like nits.

This is true in my limited experience. I have just been playing too much 1/2 in local charity games recently, where the games are full of old nits and avg to decent younger guys.. with only the occasional spew monkey.. unless you get at the right table at the right time you're basically playing against the rake, which sucks..

In games with the older tighter nits just raise 6$ with any two cards in hi jack and cut off seat. If your reraised just fold (wich is very rare). Alot of times the Vegas nits know of continuation bets and will call your c bet. What I have found is wait until the turn to fire the c-bet works better. Of course if they bet on flop just fold.

Well, it's been almost half a year since the last post in this thread - anything new with FireKeepers that I should know before my first visit? Thanks.

How's the action been this summer? Do they ever run shorthanded games? Like 5 or 6 players?

I was there Saturday, and all of the tables were playing 1/2 (with one 2/5 exception). The action was pretty juicy, a lot more money on the tables than I had expected. The staff is awesome and the room is nice, nicest I've played in (freshly 21 for what it's worth).

Anyone have any information on how the crowd is on Sundays? Do they run tournaments on Sundays, is it usually pretty crowded? Looking to drive up there this weekend and trying to see if it is worth my time.

Thanks in advance

First visit to Firekeepers. 8-hour session on Sunday night.
  • Only 3 tables of 1/2 (1 of 1/1 or 2/4 limit?), which broke to 1 at about midnight; Very, very slow.
  • No 2/5 games; Floor stated that those games generally run only Friday and Saturday nights.
  • Alcohol is not free; Don't drink myself when playing but want others to.
  • Chairs, though not adjustable, are comfortable; Solid lumbar support.
  • Dealers tended to be unfocused but friendly; Straddles often unannounced, as well as number of players to the flop; At detriment to play, dealers talked to regs too often.
  • Comp is only $.80/hour.
  • Room not closed off to casino, so lots of noise and smoke seeping in.

I'll be playing there for a while I'm in town for winter break, probably in a full tilt hat listening to headphones. Feel free to say hello.

Will have a few hours this Wednesday, early afternoon thru evening. Thinking of heading to Firekeepers.

Worth the trip? Or a waste of time for this time of the week?

they have a wednesdays tourney at noon $80/4k in chips, limited to 72 players, I'm heading up in a couple weeks, have heard it's a nice tourney. But I'd imagine they'd be pretty busy early afternoons with 72 players there and busting out from the tourney

hello everyone,
I live about a half hour away from the casino, but have
never really been rolled enough to take a shot at trying to
grind out the tables there. But since stars got shut down I am
seriously debating on take some of my student loan money and
giving it an honest shot. I am just looking for some advice on how
to go about doing this.
The most I have ever really played is 25nl, but i hear 200nl live is about the same level as 10nl online. I think that as long as I choose right spots and play my A game I can potentially beat the tables out there and build a solid roll.
I guess I am just wanting to know any kind of advice that would help me get started at doing this, like what sort of bank roll I would need, what is the best times to play, who should I stay away from, or any kind of advice. Thanks in advance for any help!

Firekeeper's now offers a bad beat jackpot. Lose with aces full of jacks (must have pocket aces) or better for 50%, 25% to winner, and 25% to rest of the ROOM. They rake a buck after the pot exceeds $30 and split it (not sure on exact percentages) among the main jackpot, as well as two reserves, and a small 'promo' pot for added money for tournaments/high hand/etc (tbd). The casino donated 20k to the original jackpot pool, and someone actually hit it the next day for 12k (6k to the losing hand), so it's at about 8k right now. Excited to see it grow, and hope it brings about loose play and maybe even a nice payday

I, for one, have made peace with the fact that I will NEVER win (lose?) a bad beat jackpot, despite playing 30+ hours a week the rest of my life.

Yeah I agree. I'm much more excited about the room I grind in having it though, because it should attract more fish and make people play worse preflop once it gets bigger. Also the 25% room share on a smaller room wouldn't suck if I happened to be there when it hit at another table...but not getting my hopes up for that, either.

Any particular tips on grinding the tables though? I am more experienced in Tourneys I used to grind out MTTS on stars and built up a solid bank roll starting with $50. I am not much of a cash game player. Since my last post I bought in to the casino with $150 and on like the tenth hand I opened up with AA and got one caller from the sb. It was two flushed board with Jack high so bet about size of pot after his check. turn is a T which adds straight draws to the board but this time he leads out. I raise, he 3bets and I shove and he flips over 44. He set mined me on the flop. I felt like **** and walked out with my head low. Man I just need some kind of help or advice on how to grind on live casino tables.

I don't really have any tips for you, sorry.

For the past three Fridays, there's either been 1/3 NLHE/PLO round by round or 1/3 PLO running. I'll be trying to get it going again this Friday, if anyone plays.
