Go to their website. They have recommendations for nearby accomodations, but it would be quite a walk!

I will be there with family and friends all day Sunday. Wreck it!

Ordered a scotch at the table. $13.00 Yikes.

Dealers were good but chatty.

Players were solid for the most part.

Enjoyed my day there with friends.

Don't know how much further this is for you, but Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant has some pretty light competition. And you don't have to deal with that PokerPro crap.

The Blue Chip does not have Poker Pro Machines. Perhaps you mean 4 Winds?

Mini TR from Blue Chip the other day:

Got there at 4pm on Dec 30. There was 2 full games of $1-2 NL going, I had to wait about 20 min to get a seat.

Game was pretty good. Bought in for $150 and played pretty tight for awhile, drank $3 Bud Lights all night, this got a little expensive, but oh well. I like to drink and play cards.

About 2 hours into the session, this hand came up:

I am the BB, mp and button call the $2 and look down at K-9 off. Flop comes K-9-3 all spades. I bet $10 and mp calls. Button folds. turn is Q H, and I check and mp checks. River is a brick 2 D, I bet $20 and mp calls and shows 5-2 of spades. Whoops. Oh well. The rest of the night was ok, built my stack back to around $200 and around 2am i am dealt KK and run it into AA, and lose the $200. I stumble to the 24 hour dinner right next to the casino and choke down some nacho;s and fried chicken which was free from my comps, I had around $20 on my card from the day of playing, i assume bc i just signed up for the card that day. then i stumble to my room which i only paid $50 for and pass out.

Fun Fun. -$150 for the day.

The same 5-10 RXR game is held Thursdays, but the max buy in is 5k, I'm pretty positive thats correct.

This is a a sick juicy game that revolves mainly around 2 players who have the money to lose and want to gamble. It also has some pretty good players in it, including the guy who won a HPT at Soaring Eagle a few months back, and the local guy from GR who final tabled the 1k WSOP event this year, taking fourth.

Do these games still run?

Too late to help you out, but for others who may have the same question, there is a Quality Inn next to Firekeepers. It's pretty close, but not walking distance by any means, it's the only hotel in the area. I stayed there a month or so ago when i went. It was what you would expect from a quality inn, but more than adequate. They have a free shuttle to and from the casino (and actually have a surprisingly decent seafood restaraunt at the hotel).

How is the action here during the week? I have days off from work Tues-Wed., curious to know how many tables of 1/2 2/5 would be running if I were to go up. What would be the best time of day?

I popped in on a Wednesday afternoon a few weeks back, they had one 3-6 table, and 3 1-2 tables all running full. Not bad for midweek. I asked around, and they said it was pretty consistent.

That sounds reasonable. I just didn't want to drive up there, have there be no pokers, and be forced to degen off my monies playing BJ and craps.

Round by round. Generally alternating orbits of NLHE and PLO.

I was afraid of the same thing...I actually ended up being on the list for about 30 minutes, which allowed me to take my first ever stab at the limit game. Needless to say, I was glad when my name was called.

FYP. Live limit is a much more complex game that NL players believe whereas NL is very similar to playing a slot machine.

You take the worst of it preflop, just like the slot player, hoping to hit and take the other guys stack, just like the slot player hopes to hit a jackpot and if you take the worst of it too often, you will go BUSTO, just like the slot player.

That sounds nothing like the live NL game that I play...somewhat successfully I might add. In my brief experience, the Limit game actually matched your description. There was far more "getting there" as the hand progressed.

That's what I was thinking. 7-9 going to the flop every time, people chasing non-nut draws all the way down. Sounds a lot more like bingo to me than any NL game I've ever been in.

Great trip last night - first trip to firekeepers - A great atmosphere, love the auto shufflers, really prefer the casino atmosphere vs the card rooms in lansing, cocktail waitresses were quick with the drinks and easy on the eyes

+$485 in 8 hours playing 1/2NLHE - got really hot towards the end of the night.

I'm amazed at the calls I was getting after playing like a nit. fold for 90 minutes straight then get 3 callers for pot sized $25 bet after flopping my set makes for a nice pot

The play at the tables was so much easier than the shark tank I've been playing at.

Late in the evenening a drunk girl showed up at the table and has no idea how to play. She limps from UTG - pot ends up $12 - flop A82 - sb check, BB check, she pushes allin for $88, flips her A8 face up in front of her and reaches for the pot... dealer trys to explain to her that there is still action... everyone folds. Over the next 15 minutes, she blows through $100, goes gets another $100 and is walking around the card room lost. Half of our table stands and waves and hoots/hollars trying to get her attention. Drunk girl returns and promptly blows through rest of cash

Later, I call a $7 raised pot w/ 96 flop comes 962 - I check - maniac behind me bets $16 w/ 2 callers, as I announce raise and start pushing my stack into the middle, dealer puts up the J. before I can finish my bet - I'm - and he explains the card will be shuffled back in the deck... maniac calls w/ QQ - 96 holds up
