Did you notice any tables of higher NL running? 2/5, 5/10, 10/20 and what the wait lists were like?

[x] Smoke free room
[ ] Eating allowed in teh room
[x] Nice amount of fish ready to gambol
[x] Decent amount of crazy Azian gamblerz (one last night sat down at 1/2 with all green chips, didn't want to swap some for reds, and proceeded to bluff every street 3 hands in a row until he had given away 2 buy ins and left)
[x] Cool hand dryers in teh bathroomz
[ ] Good looking cocktail waitresses (a few good ones I guess)
[x] Comps: 80 cents per hour
[x] Promotion: first 108 players to log 108 hours get entry into a $25,000 free roll. (so to me it looks like instead of $1 an hour comps for everyone, they are going to be distributing more of that to teh grinderz/regs)
[x] Very friendly rake reductions when 6 handed or less. But make sure to request it when the table gets short.
[ ] Bad beat jackpot. (one in the works and coming soon from what I hear, though)
[x] Staff is very well educated and consistent on enforcing the rules, while at the same time not making you feel like they are Judge Judy. ("sorry, sir, but you can't talk on your phone at teh table" etc.)
[x] 1/2nl buy ins: 50 min 200 max 2/5 nl: 200 min, 1,000 max
[x] Poker room call ahead seating number: 269 660 5631 It's the standard 'you have one hour to check in after you call to save your place on the wait list' like most casino call aheads work.
[x] Straddling at 1/2 nl: the only thing allowed is $4 utg
[x] Will open any game/any limit at any time as long as they have players, a table, and a dealer
[x] Pretty much the nuts for this area. Regs from the charity rooms I've played in are all gravitating towards this room, and I played with several people from as far away as Indiana and Ohio. I don't see the interest in this room significantly declining anytime soon.

Interesting/pathetic story: I have been playing there quite a lot and so most of the dealers recognize me already. They know that I immediately request a rake reduction when someone leaves the table and we go to 6 handed or less (tables are 9 max I think..can't remember). Since they usually lower the rake to something like $2 or $3 max from $5, there's no reason not to. Fast forward to tonight where we get down to 6 players: I get sidetracked and don't mention a rake reduction for a couple hands when the dealer calls the floor over without anyone asking. He comes over and the dealer says "rake reduction?" and the floor leans down and tries to I guess make an attempt at whispering "who asked?" Dealer says something along the lines of no one or I'm not sure, and the floor 'whispers' "we only reduce it if a player asks, ok?" I'm sitting in like the 4 seat and I easily hear the entire conversation... classy. I ended up keeping my mouth shut since another player came soon and the last thing I wanted to do was get the poor dealer in trouble. I then shipped him a few chips when he was at an empty table sorting cards and told him why I kept my mouth shut at the time and that what he did was much appreciated. Didn't piss off the floor man and gave an 'atta boy to the dealer for his good looking out abilities so it was cool I guess.

**Also: the floor is getting better about this since a lot of people raised hell about it, but MAKE SURE when you switch tables, whether the floor manually broke your table or you requested a seat change, or even if you've been at the same table for a few hours, to have them make sure your name is still signed in and earning comp points. This is because they will not give them to you even if they pretty much know you have been there for 12 hours and only have 5 hours in teh system.

I'd like to add two more updates:

-They also spread a 1/3nl with buy ins of 200-500. Seems pretty cool. I believe it only runs on Fri/Sat's though.
-Also, I take back my remark about them having not hot wait staff.

There was 2/5 running for sure, but the other ones I'm not sure. I'm a microstakes player online so my BR isn't even ready for 1/2, let alone 10/20.

When he told me I was 104 on the list for 1/2NL I asked if they had any PLO at all and he said no. Hopefully it will calm down soon and you'll be able to actually get a seat without waiting 3+ hours.

I was there opening day and it was pretty crazy, nice poker room though. Ate dinner with wife at one of the middle priced places and food was very good, and the wait wasn't bad.

poker room said it wants to start doing tounys in october, but no dates as of yet.

its only 25 min from my house so thats really nice.

Anyone know of a thread I can read that has info on the new Firekeepers Casino poker room.... or can someone give me the low down on NL tables, what limits their usually running and if they have any tournaments set up. Their website has minimal info on it.

I was there on 8/19 from about 1:15 pm to 7:15 pm.

Nice room. The room is in the back of the casino, but convenient to the bathrooms and a self serve drink station. Additionally, waitress service was steady and available.

But man, the table I played was full of passive rocks.

There is only a $200 max for 1/2 NL buy in, and there were very few large pots. The table had a lot of limpers and passive calling stations that seemed to always catch that card on the river.....

Oh well, thats pretty standard for mid-week daytime poker in a casino... a bunch of weak tight nits, over 60, who don't seem to shave very often.

I did meet a couple friendly players and pretty much enjoyed myself.

I subtract points for the drink service as they did not have hot chocolate available. Other than that, it is a clean, open, modern poker room with OK chairs, some good dealers, some not so good. But it is another option, and overall I feel this is a positive for the poker community in Michigan.

I just found outmy friend Billy Marshall is working there. I have no idea if he is in the Pits or involved with the poker room, prefectly capable in both regards, IMO.

If one of you happen to run into Billy, tell him Andy said, Hello!

Figures. You won't get a lot of loose "urban / city" type action. There are loads of seasoned poker people, in that area of Michigan. Some, very experienced, Soaring Eagles players are playing in that room.

It depends. During mid-week afternoons I agree that it is going to be really nitty. I've done over 15 sessions there (all evenings/nights/really early morning) and I think I've moved tables due to nit infestation only about 3 or 4 times. The most recent was when a preflop pot totaled 23 bucks and got to around 40 total on a 9-high board. Nit #1 had queens. Nit #2 had kings. But that is an extreme example. I played the 1/3 game and it was extremely loose, as are most of the 1/2 tables. I would disagree with the lack of "urban/city" action, but definitely agree that there are plenty of solid players there, too. It's not like the casino was built in the middle of a corn field...oh wait..

played there.... 1/2 $200 BI

they had a few 1/2 tables, less 2/5 and 1 3/6 LHE table

they seemed a little slow at filling seats but not on the order of Greektown.

overall soft play at my table, rocky soft, not loose wild soft.

few solid players and bunch of old nits, friendly game.

the place was quiet in the morning and crazy busy by the early afternoon

walleye sandwich at the "24/7" restaurant was ok, it was prepared well with a good remoulade, the fish was ok especially for lake fish purchased away from a lake, but not the best I've had; it did come out very hot. I couldn't eat all the bread but I ate all the fish.

they have a drink station and restrooms right outside the room, which is a hike from the front of the casino.

annoying mamma mia "money money money moneeeeyyyyyyy" at 90 dB when someone hit the shlots.

easy access of I94, they track hours played but not sure the rewards.

no BBJ no HH jackpot, $5 rake

the casino is smoky, the room is only hint of smoke from the casino.

Just to pass along...pretty good crowd for a Sunday afternoon. Four tables of 1/2 200max running with one 3/6 limit game. The room is beautifully done. Tables and chairs are comfortable. Dealers were competent and friendly.

Minor complaints would be small televisions and far away made football viewing poor. And poor/inadequate drink service. The girl servicing the poker room was also taking care of the slots floor.

I was the one in the Colorado Skysox cap flopping quads twice in one orbit!

Made a good chunk of change in the following hand...

I have about $400 behind and J5off in the BB. Four or five limpers to me, check of course. Flop comes J75 two suited. I bet pot and get one caller at the other end of the table. He is a little loose, has about the same stack size and my thought is he might try to make a move. Turn is a 6 suit unimportant. I bet $20 and he raises to $80 pretty quickly. $60 to me with around $130 in the pot. Okay, I think for around 45 seconds and decide to just call and see what comes as my range for him is wide.

The river is a brick deuce. I check and he forcibly bets a $100 stack. I call and he shows one pair plus the flush draw. Ding ding ding. Not sure if I could have been more aggressive somewhere in there, but I will take it. I live in fear of unraised pots in NL and I knew he could smell it - I got lucky and he rammed the river. $$$. (I had evidence that he would bet a busted draw.)

And I really did flop quads twice in one orbit. First time with QQ, second with 66. Crazy daisy.

it's a nice room that gets crowded with lousy televisions and no hotel on the casino property. They have a bunch of 1/2 and 2/5 and some low limit limit

They hold a 5-10 RXR game every teusday night with an uncapped buyin, usually table is full, they start around 6-7ish. Call ahead for a seat, but they give preference to people who play every week. There is a feeder table if there is enough interest for the game. With the uncapped buy in some have sat initially with $20k.

The same 5-10 RXR game is held Thursdays, but the max buy in is 5k, I'm pretty positive thats correct.

This is a a sick juicy game that revolves mainly around 2 players who have the money to lose and want to gamble. It also has some pretty good players in it, including the guy who won a HPT at Soaring Eagle a few months back, and the local guy from GR who final tabled the 1k WSOP event this year, taking fourth.

They play the rxr every tues at 6pm and thurs at 4. They either play 5-10 with a 500min or 10-20 with a 1k min no max either day. Last time i was there they had a list for 2-5 plo on sat also.
