[x] Smoke free room
[ ] Eating allowed in teh room
[x] Nice amount of fish ready to gambol
[x] Decent amount of crazy Azian gamblerz (one last night sat down at 1/2 with all green chips, didn't want to swap some for reds, and proceeded to bluff every street 3 hands in a row until he had given away 2 buy ins and left)
[x] Cool hand dryers in teh bathroomz
[ ] Good looking cocktail waitresses (a few good ones I guess)
[x] Comps: 80 cents per hour
[x] Promotion: first 108 players to log 108 hours get entry into a $25,000 free roll. (so to me it looks like instead of $1 an hour comps for everyone, they are going to be distributing more of that to teh grinderz/regs)
[x] Very friendly rake reductions when 6 handed or less. But make sure to request it when the table gets short.
[ ] Bad beat jackpot. (one in the works and coming soon from what I hear, though)
[x] Staff is very well educated and consistent on enforcing the rules, while at the same time not making you feel like they are Judge Judy. ("sorry, sir, but you can't talk on your phone at teh table" etc.)
[x] 1/2nl buy ins: 50 min 200 max 2/5 nl: 200 min, 1,000 max
[x] Poker room call ahead seating number: 269 660 5631 It's the standard 'you have one hour to check in after you call to save your place on the wait list' like most casino call aheads work.
[x] Straddling at 1/2 nl: the only thing allowed is $4 utg
[x] Will open any game/any limit at any time as long as they have players, a table, and a dealer
[x] Pretty much the nuts for this area. Regs from the charity rooms I've played in are all gravitating towards this room, and I played with several people from as far away as Indiana and Ohio. I don't see the interest in this room significantly declining anytime soon.
Interesting/pathetic story: I have been playing there quite a lot and so most of the dealers recognize me already. They know that I immediately request a rake reduction when someone leaves the table and we go to 6 handed or less (tables are 9 max I think..can't remember
). Since they usually lower the rake to something like $2 or $3 max from $5, there's no reason not to. Fast forward to tonight where we get down to 6 players: I get sidetracked and don't mention a rake reduction for a couple hands when the dealer calls the floor over without anyone asking. He comes over and the dealer says "rake reduction?" and the floor leans down and tries to I guess make an attempt at whispering "who asked?" Dealer says something along the lines of no one or I'm not sure, and the floor 'whispers' "we only reduce it if a player asks, ok?" I'm sitting in like the 4 seat and I easily hear the entire conversation... classy. I ended up keeping my mouth shut since another player came soon and the last thing I wanted to do was get the poor dealer in trouble. I then shipped him a few chips when he was at an empty table sorting cards and told him why I kept my mouth shut at the time and that what he did was much appreciated. Didn't piss off the floor man and gave an 'atta boy to the dealer for his good looking out abilities so it was cool I guess.
**Also: the floor is getting better about this since a lot of people raised hell about it, but MAKE SURE when you switch tables, whether the floor manually broke your table or you requested a seat change, or even if you've been at the same table for a few hours, to have them make sure your name is still signed in and earning comp points. This is because they will not give them to you even if they pretty much know you have been there for 12 hours and only have 5 hours in teh system.
