Yeah, I can't see a weekly tourney doing well at Fallsview. It would be better if they just advertised one every month with a decent sized cash pool. I'm sure they could get 150+ players to play a 200$ mtt on the last week of every month.

Would just be nice to switch it up from cash games.. it would probably beat going to Turning Stone for tournies lol.

Wow, that sounds so idiotic. All Fallsview had to do was get it going on the first day with whoever showed up, and more people would have followed in the future including me. Now I'm looking for single-table tournaments but it looks like the Fallsview and Brantford scheduled SNGs never ran. It seems that there is no demand for live STTs except during the WPT/FPC satellites.

Has anybody heard if they will have another Fallsview Poker Classic and try to compete with the more popular WPT events in Montreal?

WPT pulled out and rumour is FV did such a poor job of running the tournament and their inability to properly deal with the demand for more cash games WPT would never come back.

what are the best days to play 5-5 or 2-5?

iv heard weekends it takes 2-3 hours for a seat and therefore wednesdays and thursdays are the best

also i have no problem playing 1-2 or 1-3 or whatever lower limit game they have if i have to wait

also i plan on coming to play from about 6pm-6am the next day

No 5/5 game it's a 2/5 with a $100-$500 bi and on weekends 5/10 runs. You can call and put your name on list up to 90 minutes before you arrive and you should do this or waits can be long.

It is a very poorly run room but 2-3 hour wait isn't accurate....if you call ahead I would say most times wait is less then an hour especially if your there before 8pm or so. I usually take my full 90 mins (or within 10 mins of that and I usually get a seat within 15 mins or less if I arrive between 4pm and 7pm).

The 1/2 is at a different casino about a 20 min walk or 5 min drive (Casino Niagara) 2/5 is the smallest game they run at Fallview.

Good luck....as much as people complain about how bad the room is run (and it is) the action is still good and the level of play is horrible.

Is Fallsview's comp the same as Woodbine's 50¢/hour Electronic Poker CASH Rewards? Unlike Fallsview's expiring comps which can only be used for food and you get ripped off your points if you don't reswipe the card overnight or forget to sign out, the OLG Slots' new cash rewards are automatically tracked from the minute you sign in to a PokerTek screen and when you quit playing. It can be used for electronic tournament buy-ins, bets, rakes and even the moronic rabbit hunting if you are one of those degenerates that just can't resist wasting money.

What I'm wondering about is why hardly any of the Fallsview "semi-pros" or regs bother reswiping their cards in the morning before their whole night's comp points are reset to zero (~ 3 AM?). I hate Seneca for its 30% tax withholdings, but I remember that a floor person would ask for everybody's player cards in the morning so that they will get credit for the previous night's session before all the points are reset in the morning. It seems to me that the Fallsview regs that slave away to see 250 hands over a total of ten hours would at least want to get credited for comps, while the Woodbine regs only have to spend five hours to win with the same number of hands.

Fallsview no longer has comps for poker.....they took out 30 cents an hour away a while ago. The only reason to swipe your card is to get free parking.

man, the fallsview casino sure was beat for a mid-may thursday night. thanks for the rec's but not much went down there. something indeed seemed strange until we realized why it was so quiet. no sounds from the pit/silent slots. eerie. i didnt get a chance to sit in a game but there were a couple running so there was hope. i did briefly play this texas holdem pit game that i hadn't seen before. you ante, get two and pay to see the flop with the option to bet the t/r vs the dealer. it was pretty fun actually. +1 BB over ~45 min with some nice swings. w00t.

had a gorgeous view from the presidential suite at the embassy, which i recommend. i think our room was the best party in town. will go back one day and try to sit again. but i sure hope its more lively next time. it looks like a nice room.

Ontario casinos do check for ID of anybody that looks under 30, so you have to wait until October to play at Fallsview, Woodbine, etc.

Is there such a thing as a live study group in the GTA just like there are a lot of online study groups? I remember Xuan Liu grinding at Fallsview years ago, and I think one of the reasons for her huge success and other pros was being able to talk to winning players about hands & strategies.

I would be interested in a live GTA study group. I live downtown and started playing at woodbine full time recently. It's been going well so far

I phoned to get on the list just before driving out to Fallsview so I wouldn't have to wait 3 hours like the last time just because my name disappeared after I was already in the lineup at the desk. However, I found out there were only 5 tables running & no 5/10. I remember a few years ago going there every Thursday night and it would be packed, but it is dead now. I phoned Woodbine and they had all except one of their tables running, including a 5/5.

I think there were at least two 5/10 and possibly a 10/20 when I played on a Saturday night. I have not seen any PLO or Limit games run. At Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, I see a list for PLO.

Has anybody else noticed that a lot of the regs in the GTA casinos are not playing this week?

Lots of regs are in Montreal for the Full tilt event next week at the playground.

FV doesn't ever run limit and I don't think PLO has run in months. 5/10 has been running Thursday-Sunday's with 2 tables on Saturday night and sometimes 2 on Friday night.

PLO runs Tuesdays at Seneca, 5-5-10 blinds, with a $500-$2000 buy-in, I believe. Wednesdays is the $200-500 buy-in PLO game, with, to my knowledge, 1-3 blinds. Both games run regularly...

Yes good point....and the $2k buy in isn't enforced at all. I know some of the regs buy in for much more.

Not to mention Seneca room is run so much better.

Also, I saw a sign up sheet in there for Friday, October 11th, for a $25/50 PLO/NLHE game, $2500 min buy-in, no max... Game switches every half hour from NLHE to PLO... Session on the Tuesday 5-5-10 is only $5/half, which is quite lower than anywhere else I've been. Seemed like a decent list was forming. I've never played the PLO at Fallsview, but have heard the horror stories just from hold'em about the dealers/staff. The Seneca dealers, in my experience, allow PLO games to run smoothly.

To each their own. Something like that would succeed in Canada, where the poker dealers basically suck. In Vegas, those tables failed miserably over the years in many places they were tested.

Saturday night game was kinda crap. Only 1 table, and broke early. Friday was a lot better.

The action at FV dries up a little more every month. It makes me very sad. 5/10 used to open every weekday at noon.

So I'm in Toronto next week (on the waterfront)... no rental car.

Best way to get to Fallsview/Niagara?

I'm typically a 1/2 player and take the occasional shot at 2/5 when the games are softer looking.

Also like other table games to pass the time too.

Suggestions? Anyone want to offer a ride? Monday (the 21st) looks like my day to play.

Pretty sure there's at least a half-dozen, maybe more, buses that leave directly from the downton bus terminal (Bay + Dundas) that take you directly to Fallsview. Coach Canada is one that comes to mind, there for sure are other companies.
