If anyone thinks that they are going to pull this license then you are dumber than a box of rocks. There is way to much money at stake here and I'm not even talking about Encore's money I'm talking about what government/the state of Mass stands to make here... a pulling of the license or even a delay would put a dent in the coffers of the state and local municipalities, they will just be shooting themselves in the foot. There will be the normal blah blah blah followed by a big fine, followed by Encore opening on the exact day it plans to open on... nothing more nothing less. You heard it here first.

It might be a little more complicated than that, I think the MGC is prolonging because they very well know the other companies that wanted that same license could start a lawsuit on why they weren’t awarded the license if they were “squeaky clean” back then also?
Why did they prefer Wynn over anyone else, and now all the shenanigans pops up!

Everyone is trying to cover their asses which is normal. The MGC is trying not to get sued by Mohegan or Caesars or anyone else but there are many secrets with every organization and the MGC did their best with the info they had at the time.

Donald Sterling was a racist and many other horrible things and when he was 'discovered' he was forced to sell the team and Steve Ballmer bought the Clippers for 2 billion. Doc Rivers, the head of concessions, the valets, ushers, etc... didn't know about all the shady stuff. This isn't exactly the same thing but this is life, we can't stop the world from moving along for every man who gets it on with a woman.

I do think because the MGC was put in place by politicians and those politicians will gain from the revenue things will result in a fine but who knows. Some Indian tribe from Idaho could be running things in a year.

It really isn't at all, it's actually quite elementary

Most companies that have been caught will have procedures, systems, policies, etc... in place to prevent this from happening again. If they give the license to Mohegan, Caesars, etc... they prob don't have these things in place and who is to say there are not already things being covered up at those companies. This is just a crap show. If the MGC just wants to fine/extort Encore for 20 mil go ahead and say so.

I want the place to open, but they deserve whatever they get. They hid info that might have kept them from getting the license from the MGC and they got caught. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Heard it today from what I expect to be a very reliable source the 1/3 will be the starting limit for NLHE.

Sounds legit right? Sers though.

Makes sense. Same as Encore Vegas.

Glad they're doing everything possible.

I've seen the headline about that donation to inauguration celebration, and immediately thought of Trump raising $100M for his (and only spending very little of it, raising the question of where the rest of the money went...but that one barely cracks the top 20 of Trump scandals).

I'm glad you posted that link. I started wondering, "Do really need to go crazy with these things for Governors, too?", but the link says this whole inaugural thing was done for <$50k. I felt greatly relieved.

The wheels had been in motion for awhile......

“The firm also made donations to the inaugural fund in 2015 during Baker’s first term, according to campaign finance records.”

Now they discovered bribery!
But will MA really let a 2.6b resort sit there, while they lose out on tax revenue?

It's standard practice in any business. Throwing money towards campaigns for favorable treatment or influence is nothing new. The fact it got highlighted, like oh wow....next.

Too big to fail....

So let's all plan on showing up and playing whatever stakes offered. You want specialty stuff, need to show them demand. Most places would potentially make alterations, on possible stakes/games if it is financially beneficial to them.

Even if every table is full of 1-3, 2-5, and 5-10 NLHE it will be a success.

I personally think NLHE is the best game for tournaments as blinds escalate pot limit or limit games become too shallow and equities run too close and there is no real decision making other than pick a starting hand and go with it.

Deep PLO is more fun but most beginners and entry level players hate the variance and they don't want every street changing things, etc... they just want AA and hold on for dear life by the river.

I expect there to be a ton of PLO in this room. I’d imagine a good number of mixed games too.

What do you guys think about limit O8, limit Big O, PLO8, and PLBigO running here? At one point they had 5-10 LO8 at Foxwoods? They do have 2-5 PLO8 on Fridays at Foxwoods once a week. They used to get 1-2 PLO8 running occasionally.

I'm a fan of limit Omaha in any variation/stakes.

Dramaha?

https://www.bostonherald.com/2019/04...asino-license/

The company acknowledges it screwed up and has made strides to do what it can. Not sure what they want them to do besides pay another big fine. Firing the CEO, etc... will do what?

Why is the MGC so surprised that people who work in large companies do not know what is going on in other areas even if it is a huge issue? That is why large companies have HR, General Counsel, outside legal firms, etc...

In Boston there are literally dozens of universities where hundreds of girls have had inappropriate relationships with their professors and everything is handled by the Dean of Students Office, the campus police, lawyers, and outside law firms and the Deans and President know absolutely nothing about any of this stuff.

The point (or at least part of the point) is that there are people who did know, and very conveniently never brought it up in a licensing / suitability process that’s supposed to determine whether the applicant and qualifiers (ie, the testifying executives) demonstrated “integrity, honesty, good character, and reputation.” They managed to cover-up their way into a license. Will they be allowed to keep it? Probably. Will I feed bad for them, or blame the MGC if they decided to take it away? LOL, hell no.

The real point is I want to play PLO without having to drive to frigging New Hampshire! Let's go already!

I'm 80% confident there will just be a big fine levied and things will proceed. Nobody wants to see the regular payments being delayed for a long relicensing process. They might even care about the tax revenues and employee paychecks too.

I will note that Donald Trump got into the casino business in Atlantic City when Hilton had their license stripped at the last minute. He bought the place from Hilton at a distressed price, replaced the name from Hilton to Trump and opened it without changing anything else. That could happen too if someone can step in fast enough.

Won’t be Caesars cause they broke AF.
Won’t be Mohegan, because the mayor of Everett has the right to refuse the sale of the property, and he flat out doesn’t want Mohegan in his city.
Can’t be MGM cause they would have to sell Springfield first.

Who’s gonna step in?

MGM will GIVE AWAY the Springfield property for a chance to own the Boston market.
