Encore Boston Hype Thread (Everett, MA) Encore Boston Hype Thread (Everett, MA)

More than one source confirmed (hired employees) that Encore Boston is ahead of schedule, and will be opening in late May. Anyone heard similar rumors?
02-20-2019 , 02:18 PM
Yes, someone else mentioned similar in 1 of the other area threads within the past month.

All the work on the outside seems done and they have plenty of time to work on the inside stuff now. There is apparently a lot of random bad press about the gaming license, all this stuff because Steve Wynn used to be involved, and how every deal for the land and much more was because people were buddies.

If every CEO in America's sexual deviance was made public, and if every business deal had to be between people who had no prior history or buddy buddy dealings with each other, and there is no backroom shenanigans or you scratch my back I'll scratch yours type stuff going on, nothing would ever happen. I just hope there are no delays due to some regulatory thing or they have to sell the casino to Mohegan Sun or anything like that.

If they open in May before WSOP that would be sick. There is usually some truth behind every rumor. One time....

wouldn't it be bad timing opening before WSOP?
02-22-2019 , 03:23 AM
99% of the players couldn't even spell WSOP but perhaps if it is up and running during the WSOP it will generate some buzz and excitement if they would stream some events or have publicity and run some satellites or whatever.

Even if it opens on 6/24 as anticipated they could run a week of satellites and imagine the free PR they would get if a guy got in from a $60 super step satellite and won the Main Event.

There is no bad time to open this casino
02-22-2019 , 11:28 AM
Ha yes, no bad time. Open this place up tomorrow and it will print money for the rest of eternity.

Foxwoods management has run the place into the ground. Last few times I've been there it is a ghost town. Not just poker but pit, restaurants, stores, bingo, etc... I routinely park at a low level right next to the elevators which was unheard of years ago.

Mohegan Sun seems to be doing a little better. All the buses go there now and for me it just seems more lively and not as quiet. Even the food options seem better and more innovative and unique.

Gov. Baker is pushing to legalize sports betting. Can we assume that if the bill passes that it will be available at the Encore?
Does anyone know more details about this?
02-22-2019 , 12:02 PM
That's a safe assumption. I would assume they had some foresight and designed an area to accommodate it once legalized. Often it's merged with the racebook, and I'd hope they built it large enough anticipating this. Unlike say Twin River, which I hear has a brutal sports betting area.

They have dates nailed down for opening with multiple events already scheduled. Can't see them bumping up the opening from that time, which is late June.

I'm also imagining the cast of characters that are going to be at the poker tables. Going to be fun.

That's exactly what was in the back of my mind, if they planned ahead for a convenient sports book area.

I've placed wagers at Twin a couple times recently and it's not as bad as it was first reported. First time we had a big line but it moved reasonably fast. Second time was less crowded. The room has a bar but it's simply too small and not much bar space or seating. Somewhere where you want to go place your bet and leave. Not a place you'd want to hang out.
I imagine Encore will do a much better job.

Twin River is a glorified slot parlor dump. Encore will be a golden palace floating on puffy clouds. There is no comparison.

subbed, temp plan is to move closer to everett area in September
02-23-2019 , 01:19 AM
I think the early open rumour is stemming from encore asking hired/potential dealers if they can be available in May. I imagine this could be for a variety of reasons besides an early open.

Would u eat or drink there? That land was all contaminated before. Could they possibly clean it 100%? Big corps love to cut corners on things like that
02-23-2019 , 11:06 PM
That is my question too. Is this a whole new water source? Is there any radiation or contamination that wasn't 100% removed despite spending a lot of money to clean this place up? Is it like breathing in asbestos or 2nd hand smoke and will there be any long term effects? I would assume they could never get away with cutting corners but if they can they will.

Poker is going to be 1% of this joint's revenue.

They Do Not GAF about the WSOP.
02-25-2019 , 07:29 PM
Yes, so true. Between slots, table games, hotel, restaurants, entertainment, shopping, conventions/meetings/events, race/sports book, and so much more poker will be 1% and it is just an after thought in their big decision making process.

I hope I am wrong but I hear it would be so tough for them to open before 6/24/2019 with all that they planned around that date. But oh well, that is now less than 4 months away.

It would be helpful for everyone if they had a poker rep on here much like MGM National Harbor did leading up to their opening. Hopefully we get that type of service sooner rather than later especially with so many unknowns regarding buyins/caps, tournaments, competitors tier exchanges, etc etc

This is the hype thread. Let me fix this for you.

TR is worse than a slot parlor dump. It's good to see you've tempered your expectations for Encore.

Are they growing their own veggies on site?

Based on my experience in offshore sports books: the LAST thing I would do is try to kiss up to this forum.

No matter what he says/does, a Poker Rep can't win here. The comps won't be big enough, the rake won't be low enough, the Rep won't reply to posts quickly enough....every little dealer error will be presented here like a SCOTUS hearing, demanding the Rep account for himself and his company...

...and for what? You guys are <1% of the poker player base.

(Again, this is strictly my experience with sports bettors. Perhaps things are different here.)
