It's a safe bet there will be shuttle service directly to the casino from Wellington Station. Where else Wynn decides to send shuttles to/from remains to be seen.
So my recommendation for the time being, to someone who wants to see some of downtown Boston along with having easy access to Encore, is to stay along the Orange Line, near Haymarket or Downtown Crossing. Possible something near the waterfront could be worth looking into as well, but you'd have to hazard a guess as to where in the harbor their boat service terminal will be: http://encorebostonharbor.com/the-ha...water-shuttle/
If really all you want to do is grind and be as close as is possible without paying whatever the casino is charging, then stay at one of the places mentioned above.
I'm not so sure. I live right in this area, literally. What you may not see is the traffic over to the Wynn is beyond horrible already. The city is getting the squeeze on both sides as condos are now going to start overtaking all over Medford, Everett, Chelsea, Malden etc etc. Couple that with what already has changed over by 99 and 16 its already way too congested most of the day.
Nice hotels but people aren't going to want to stay that far away jsut for a casino. Boston is becoming so isolated and its there is really limited access to move around due to all the ****ty growth and ongoing corporate takeover. its going to be years before the city figures it out and makes it livable for all people.
talking with multipe people yesterday its beyond ridic traffic. My brother is taking 30-45 minutes one way to commute 3.4 miles, i took 45 minutes for a 1.8 miles round trip errand during rush hour.
the boatss will help but you best believe my degen, low rent ass is going to paddling around with a pirate flag up looking to deliver one last bad beat to some yuppie heading home. the mystic will not be safe to travel on. little known fact, legally its international waters so beware. it is known.
