I'm ok with this rule as one of the saddest things I have ever seen in a casino was at Mohegan walking around at 2am and seeing some schlub standing just outside the gambling floor in a walkway with a stroller and baby while his wife was at a blackjack table by herself playing like 20 feet away.

No thanks!

Actually, it's a game of four words: "Pot! How much, dealer?"

(ME: You just bet the pot, and you don't know how much is in it??? Come on, guys, I can't do the thinking for all nine of you! You call yourselves PLO players, but you sound like, "Thirteen ball, corner pocket! Dealer, where's the corner pocket?")

I was more alluding to what structure are they going to run PLO at Encore if he had similar info as he did about the NLH Buyins. That is all. I enjoyed both your non-informative responses. Nice to see some big games running at Chasers like that. Good omens of what to come!

I didn’t receive a response which could mean he doesn’t know and didn’t feel like researching his papers, letting me figure out that it’s the same limit as NL, completely forgot I sent him the message, etc.

You cannot underestimate the lure of a good count.

Wynn's whole M.O. is they cater to a wealthier clientele. The last thing they want is low rollers filling their poker room looking to min buy into 1-3 and try and hit a high hand.... and thank god for that.

Aria, Bellagio, Wynn, afaik, don't have promos because they don't have to. The rooms stand on their own.
You’re assuming the Las Vegas market with a large pot being tourists in town for 4-5 days are searching out the best poker promos before deciding which casino to visit. Their competition is not doing that either. The Boston market will be and already is far different.

I’ll be glad to be way off on this as I don’t want a $2 drop with a $7 take on most pots. From the business perspective this is what I’m expecting which is that this is what the New England poker market requires to draw customers especially those who have better ease of access to others with juicy promos.

Hah! I just had a bar conversation last night about the origin of the Bird is the Word song.

That’s the word. And it’s not Bird.

I just posted that so people know what the general cost will be to regular guests. I understand that poker will have validation. It wasn't to say we're going to pay that price. We're all going to have non-poker playing friends going there to 'check it out'. I know a bunch of senior citizens who can't comprehend why they're not offering food vouchers with the bus ride there, etc... like Mohegan/Foxwoods.

MBTA not known for handing out food vouchers.

No worries. We're all just trying to get as much info as possible about this place.

I was talking about all these senior citizens who get on a Greyhound in the Boston suburbs that hit up Foxwoods/Mohegan on day trips and they pay $15 and get like a $15 food voucher and a $15 match play or something like that. They all think they will be able to do the same thing but highly unlikely.

I am happy that this will be a high quality upscale place so that people with $ who lose at poker won't be so upset. Ditto the occasional whale who actually loses less at poker than blackjack or baccarat.

Mohegan and Foxwoods have to bribe people to come out to the middle of the forest. Encore is already in a densely populated area. They don't really have to do anything but open the doors.

This is true, but it's entirely possible that after 6 months or so, once the newness wears off a little, you might see a bus schedule from say the north and south shore.

Time will tell of course, but MGM, Springfield had very high room prices when they first opened and now even I get free room offers,

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but anyone know if they will offer tier match with MLife?

Surprising absolutely no one Wynn pays fine to Mass Gaming Commission but disputes criticism of CEO Matt Maddox. Looks like June 23rd is a go.

Safe to assume they'll have 1 hour call ahead seating?

If so just call when you get to either rotary. By the time you make it into the garage and upstairs you should be right on time.

Better wait until you get THROUGH the rotary - just to be sure

Got my invite to the soft opening, guessing the 23rd is looking good for full open.

A few more updates on the poker room. During the Gaming Commission meeting yesterday EBH Executives mentioned the poker room would have 88 tables, but 14 of those will be in a separate tournament room and only used for tournaments. They also reiterated that the poker tables would be 9 seated.

Today EBH updated the website and it includes a bit more information on the poker room as well. There is an 11 table high limit area in the center of the room, railed off from the rest of the room. Additionally, there are 6 separate VIP tables, it's not clear where they will be. The poker room is on a mezzanine above the casino floor. Across from the poker room is the high limit area. Beside the high limit area are 8 private saloons, with several tables in each. Not sure if there would be VIP poker tables in that area or if there is a VIP room off the main poker room.

Also, ITT there have been questions about promotions. On the web page it says there will be a BBJ for games up to 2/5 NL and promos for games up to 2/5 NL.

Has there been discussion regarding discounted or comped parking for poker?

At this link they talk about parking, this is all that I've seen from EBH.

Encore Boston Harbor Parking

The offsite parking lot at 1 Rivergreen might be the cheapest option. It is 1.5 miles away. The Encore Neighborhood Runner (local shuttle bus) will stop there and it runs every 20 minutes. This lot is about 1.5 miles from the casino.

Good stuff. I noticed there are a couple poker related accounts on Twitter although they are not yet verified and haven’t yet posted: @EBHPoker and @EBHPokerTD

Rhody if you are still active itt, do you have any further info? Parking will be important to me as I would probably be staying in Woburn and using my car
