This!

Even tho $35m is peanuts when they just erected a $2.6b building. It's just flexing until I see otherwise.

I don't really care what it's called as long as something opens late June in that spot.

What's the latest on potentially pushing back the opening date? I'm going to be with family nearby around July 4th and was hoping to take a day trip in to check the place out.

I don’t think there’s any newer info than the earnings call where they said they may or may not push it out one or two weeks.

Encore should put some fear into all these politicians who are all counting on the $ from Encore every year going forward. They really pissed off Encore who did nothing but try to correct mistakes and just move on but to embarrass people and an organization was a little too much. It was probably smarter to fine them 50 mil but say things like highlight all the firms they hired to fix things and to make things better going forward and actually implement the changes by spending for the resources this demands. It is impossible to create a sexual harassment free environment but if you take it seriously everyone will treat it seriously and that's all. It really makes everyone look bad but especially the Massachusetts politicians.

MGC meeting today, Encore says delayed opening is not happening. They plan to be open June 23 at 10am.

Alcohol service until 4am (between 2am and 4am only to active patrons on the gaming floor) also approved.

lol what?

in what world do you live where issuing a fine to a company for gross misconduct is a bad thing

Nevada gaming commission fined them $20 million for the same thing, so why should Massachusetts be expected to back down here

if NJ had a Wynn property I guarantee you they would have done the exact same thing

the fine represents a 1.3% cost overrun on building the casino

The fine isn't really the issue for Wynn/Encore, but the entire process here in Mass. has been much longer, more complex, uncontrolled (too many players with vetoes) and generally more hostile than in Nevada, and much more so than they expected.

It isn't so much the fine as the language included in the release compared to that of the Nevada case. I discussed a few pages ago about how unnecessary it was to go on and on about the personal conduct of the CEO that was way overboard for an official release. Nevada didn't go to half of that extent on their release regarding Steve Wynn who you could argue did deserve to be publicly shamed.

Yes, the fine is not a big deal, Encore would gladly pay $50 million if they didn't humiliate and berate them with public hearings and questioning so many things that have been addressed by true third party experts and then demanding dozens of last minute additional expectations.

But at least it is done.

Wait until the New England players begin complaining that the rake is the new industry norm of 5+2 unlike Wynn in Vegas. The same company in one market doesn’t necessarily operate identically in a completely different market nor should they.

This implies that encore will run promos? Any reason to think that?

I’d be beyond shocked if they didn’t. Beyond. They want the room filled and as we know from data compiled in other area rooms it is the promos that do this. Of course the room will be busy regardless but only poor management/leadership would be satisfied with only that......and I don’t expect poor management/leadership from this company. They are publicly traded and have a fiduciary responsibility to its shareholders to maximize revenue and earnings.

While I totally agree with this sentiment - it was the guy saying

“They really pissed off Encore who did nothing but try to correct mistakes and just move on”

that was unbelievably ignorant

the entire fine had virtually nothing to do with the actual sexual harassment itself, but rather a publicly traded company using stockholder $ for hush money payments

By definition they didn’t try to correct mistakes, they misled both investors and regulators

This is mass. I fully expect them to not have games for good of people cause our mayor is an idiot. Surprised they will have everything.

So it looks like we know the following:

1/3 500 max
2/5NL 700 max
5/10NL 1500 max

Did they disclose the rake/time structure?
05-24-2019 , 07:33 AM
any word on PLO?

Sure, it’s a game of no words, card game, everyone dealt 4 cards. 5 community cards, must use two in their hand and 3 possible highest on the board.

That’s the word. And it’s not Bird.

If that's true then the LV room is breaking their fiduciary responsibility? Wynn also doesn't allow strollers in the casino. How many potential customers are they turning away? How many shareholder lawsuits have been brought?

Wynn's whole M.O. is they cater to a wealthier clientele. The last thing they want is low rollers filling their poker room looking to min buy into 1-3 and try and hit a high hand.... and thank god for that.

Aria, Bellagio, Wynn, afaik, don't have promos because they don't have to. The rooms stand on their own.
