Thanks! Good informative post

So, what does Wellington charge for parking ? And what is the incentive to park there and take the bus ?

silverline > seaport > water taxi might be the best option

During the earnings call today Wynn Resorts CEO Matt Maddux said the June 23rd opening date could be delayed by a week or two.

In other news they had a press event to show off the water taxis. https://www.masslive.com/boston/2019...o-everett.html

One could also take the Silver Line to Chelsea and then get on a free shuttle from there to Encore. The Encore Neighborhood Runner is a 28 passenger bus that will run every 20 minutes from the Chelsea Silver Line stop to Everett City Hall to Rivergreen (a 600 spot parking lot at the old GE site) to Encore.

Local news this morning before I drove to work, $5-$7 for water taxi. Open to everyone, not just casino patrons.

$22 to park for 4 hours or less (it might be six, I can't recall).

$42 for longer than that.

Wynn Resorts could push back Encore Boston Harbor opening, CEO says

Wynn Resorts Ltd. could push back the planned June 23 opening of its Encore Boston Harbor casino in Everett to make sure the property is “flawless,” CEO Matthew Maddox said during the company’s first-quarter earnings call Thursday afternoon.

“I don’t know if the opening date will be June 23 or a week or two later, because we’re going to make sure that it’s flawless. And clearly the regulatory complexity we’ve been through has been a challenge. And so now we’re doubling back,” Maddox said. “We may give ourself another week, we may not. But the property looks great.”

Maddox’s comments were in response to last week’s Gaming Commission decision, which found that the Wynn Resorts Ltd. (Nasdaq: WYNN) is suitable to hold a casino license in Massachusetts. But regulators assessed a $35 million fine on the Las Vegas-based gambling empire and a $500,000 fine on Maddox. Commissioners have said Wynn has until May 31 to pay the fines.

Wynn Resorts’ first-quarter earnings report highlights a $35 million “nonrecurring regulatory expense.” A company spokesperson confirmed that “under appropriate accounting requirements, we have accrued $35 million for the fine imposed by the MGC.”

But Wynn Resorts has not confirmed it will comply with all of the stipulations set by state gambling regulators as a condition of keeping its casino license in the state.

“We are still reviewing the decision as it relates to some of the secondary and tertiary conditions,” Maddox said on the first-quarter earnings call. “We do not believe, if we choose to appeal, that it will impact our ability to open the project at the end of June.”

Beyond the $35 million fine to the company, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission has also levied a $500,000 personal fine on Maddox and ordered Wynn Resorts’ board to hire an executive coach to train Maddox on leadership development, communication, sensitivity to human-resources issues and team building.

“Mr. Maddox has work to do to attain CEO-level proficiency in regulatory compliance, employee relations, and overall communications,” the commission’s decision states.

The commission also intends to select an independent monitor, which it says Wynn Resorts will pay for, to review and evaluate all policies and organizational changes Wynn Resorts has adopted since ex-CEO Steve Wynn departed the company under a cloud of sexual misconduct allegations. He has publicly denied the allegations.

“We’ve been through a significant transition, and there has been some turmoil over the past 15 months,” Maddox said. “But that is all behind us.”

In determining that Wynn Resorts is suitable to keep its gaming license in Massachusetts, the commission stipulated in its 54-page decision that the suitability is “subject to the fines and conditions set forth” in its decision.

A Gaming Commission spokesperson was not immediately available for comment.

It's one thing to slap him with a half mill personal fine......but then to unnecessarily publicly humiliate him seems pretty harsh. To be a fly on the wall during those closed door discussions.

Gosh, who could've seen THAT coming?

I mean he was either incompetent enough to not know what was going on when high level employees were surveilling Elaine Wynn/paying hushing money, or knew what was going and hid it. Either way it's a pretty bad look for him. Honestly I think that's really not bad of a punishment considering, I wouldn't have been shocked if part of the conditions were that he had to step down.

When I logged into my EBH Red Card account today I had a couple of offers. Previously when I logged in all I had were offers for Vegas. YMMV

Any word on whether they'll have safety deposit boxes?

I just got an email offer for Boston Harbor: rooms as low as $581 through August with $150 in food & beverage credit.

Only $581/night? That's peanuts . . . for Jeff Bezos.

But seriously, I need a room. I wanna take a week or so to check it out after it opens. I stayed with Zefa in Vegas for two weeks last November. I am clean and pay rent early. If you have a room to spare in the area, PM me.

If you want to scope me out I have a pg&c thread.

I've hardly played any table games at the Wynn Las Vegas and I just logged in and no offers for Encore Boston but have a few for Vegas that seem like decent bargains for their quality. I wonder if they'll have a 'poker rate' ha for any tournaments they'll eventually have.

Airbnb is your friend.

If you can find them, I can't imagine AirBNBs in Everett being that expensive...

I'm looking at those as well. The market should adjust once the casino opens, I don't expected these cheaper rates to last.

There are over 6,000 Airbnb hosts in the Boston market. I’m not sure how much impact the casino would have over such a large number of homes. The lure of lower pricing is what fuels the Airbnb model.

Does anyone know if their room will host major poker series like the WSOP or WPT?

Yah AirBnB will be affordable. You can expand and I would recommend if you are visiting to live a bit further depending on what you want to do. I'm right at the intersection on Medford/Arlington/Somerville/Cambridge and there is plently of housing there. Right now I'm an $8 Pool ride and $14 Uber X ride tothe casino,. Its surging for AM rush. That goes down to about $5 for a pool ride at non peak hours.

Now if you think you can just move to Boston and find affordable rental units long term you are in for a rude awakening. It just isn't happening anymore. If anyone is going to move here long term to play you best be winning at some higher stakes to be able to afford the cost of living.

At $581 a night you're better off taking a Uber home, if you living within in 150 mile radius.

Does the “soft opening” mean anyone can enter casino and they are capping amount of guest at 5000, or does that mean there is already a 5000 person guest list (not familiar with the opening of casinos). I would love to play when I am in Boston visiting friends but if they relate I may not be able to.
